You know what, silliness aside there is one thing that makes me interested in this chapter and that's getting Nanao to have some focus. Between her and Nemu getting a chance to shine a little, I'll take what I can get. The only bad thing I see happening is if the Vice Captains that are left are getting time to shine, I fear that the Rukia and Renji stuff might be a bore fest. Beyond that, I liked the chapter despite the weirdness.

The main difference between Shunsui's twin zanpakutou and Ukitake's or Ichigo's twin zanpakutou is that Shunsui's is the only one to be two blades while sealed.
So it's quite possible that one of those blades is actually Nanao's zanpakutou.
I'm not even gonna bother thinking about how the rules of possession work in that circumstance.

I believe he is talking about using an active Zanpakutou. A zanpakutou is formed by a vessel sword (the asauchi) and the spirit inside that embodies the power of each Shinigami. When you take the sword of a dead person (like Zaraki, Tousen and probably Ikkaku did), you are merely taking an empty sword.

Taking a zanpakutou in the sense of a sword with "someone's spirit" inside shouldn't be possible, but Shunsui apparently managed to weild Nanao's.

So basically Zaraki meeting little Yachiru = Zaraki's empty zan finally gained its own spirit. Only that said spirit is visible to everyone's eyes, can interact with them, has spiriton flesh and bones (that can be turned into cookies) and even has its own zan.

This is pretty much the last nail in the cremated coffin of Quincy power consistency. I know the days of "uses spirit energy to form bows and stuff" are long gone, but for a time they more or less stuck with their general letter theme, and were more or less human (barring RoboQuincy, whatever his deal was).
Now In the beginning, Quincy Snipe was just some dude who could pierce stuff with beams through the power of X-Axis. Then, he himself could be pierced without harm. But then he transformed into a teleporting burrito with cheese wings. Then he transformed into some freakish owl-snake monster when decapitated - because X axis? Kirge had to absorb Allon into himself to become freakish, but I guess Quinzy ZOwlmarri is such a super special quincy human being that he has magic owl powers?

And what really kills me is that A) He's talking about this owl form as if he's had it all along, and it isn't some byproduct of his last minute power boost, which means that he just sorta forgot about it when facing the Zero Squad, which B) he one-upped through a spiffy new Vollständig transformation, with proper angelic angelwings to signify its specialness, which both he and Pernida have neglected to ever show again.

Also fallen by the wayside as of late: The concepts of Blut Vene, Quincy Kido, and of course, the Quincy spirit energy vacuum cleaner.

As has been said so often before: Kubo can't write these villains for shit.

Yeah, it sucks because it was pretty solid. Always thought that Kubo's style was better suited to anime than to manga medium. And the soundtrack was awesome too. Just imagine if the animation was at Ichigo vs Ulquiorra level all the time.
