I've heard Soifon was even based on his ex while they were still together.
That would explains so much.
I just don't know what.

What about Soi Fon's relationship with Yoruichi? :ninja:

Everyone knows that's the OTP of Bleach :ninja:

I must thank her, then. I was deeply in love with Sui-feng during the SS arc, she was so genuinely bitter, like an old person who became overly cynical due to unresolved feelings (well, not just "like it", that's exactly what she was).
But once she got her closure with Yoruichi, she became your everyday tsundere bitchy character. Had she died after that fight, now she would be one of my all time favorite manga characters. But as always, being a long-lived character in Bleach equals to over staying your welcome and be reduced to a trope.

In her defence, she´s still pretty cool Yoruichi-less.
At least during the fight with Barragan.

And here we have one of the biggest problems of Bleach. Characters start out great (well, at least at the beginning of the series), and if they were around for a while they become dull and boring. Then the few fun characters either die soon (Mask) or get sidelined hard (Chad) where we have to watch the boring characters act smug for 100 chapters. I'm just glad we got that Mayuri fight, because this arc would've been even more dull if not for that.
So do we know what bach's endgame is or not? Or is it that even kubo doesn't know himself, and is stalling for time?
So do we know what bach's endgame is or not? Or is it that even kubo doesn't know himself, and is stalling for time?
At first I was assuming it was "Usurp god and rule the world," but now with how little he cares about the potential fallout of killing said god (or anything else really) I'm now assuming it's either "Destroy world, recreate it in own image" or "Me hungry, me eat world."
Or is it that even kubo doesn't know himself, and is stalling for time?
That is more likely. He's already at the "I have become god! Then.. what?" point. He got bored so quickly he fell asleep as soon he sat on the throne.
Bach's motive could be good old revenge.. but it doesn't make any sense either since in the flashback, he was shown to be one who started the war in the first place. If the translation was fine, I remember the quinzi townsfolk questioning why Bach would even do that, implying that either they fear SS or simply had no reason to stand against them yet.
Also, is it normal in a story where villain's motives and goals are still unknown even after said villain's already winning and the good guys are preparing for counter attack?
I still adore Soifon like no one's business, but I feel she's been shafted this arc. Wasn't her last battle with the robot Quincy?

Sadly, this is true. Rukia is the prime example: she bickered with Ichigo, slept in a closet, made kooky drawings…now she's trying to emulate Byakuya's "I don't really care" attitude. Like the battle she showed off her Bankai.

Think we'll see robot quincy in action?
The problem with this is that kubo has way too many characters to keep track of. It doesn't help that he will bring in a bunch of new characters whenever he's bored, or can't think up material for the story.
Alright, so I was going over in my head all the times ichigo lost his power only to regain it ten chapchapters later, and that got me thinking about what Nimaya said about ichigo not being a "real" shinigami and not using an asauchi. Anyone want to tell me exactly what the hell this is?
There's a logical error here.

You're going to have to explain what that screen shot is supposed to be first lol. I have no context for it. Is that Ichigo's dad? What's contradictory about it?

Just as normal as the general workings of the universe still being unknown 650 chapters in…

Rukia was effectively cut off from Ichigo's groupie to continue her duty as shinigami after Aizen's Arc. Makes sense if she takes up more of her brother's traits.@Xanegoh:

Idk, that Nimaiya guy sorta messed up the continuity for me, especially zanpakto-related facts. Maybe he's trying to say that Ichigo hadn't been real shinigami just because he didn't personally receive asauchi from him? Being mongrel that Ichigo is, his power probably wasn't meant to be that of actual shinigami, but merely something that emulates it.
Lille….. what have they done to you ? I preferred the cool, composed Lille over this radical change that happened to him (physically and emotionally).
Poor characterisation....

sorry, that's isshin holding the reiatsu sword Rukia later stabs ichigo with to give back his shinigami powers. If what nimaya said about no shinigami drawing out their zanpakuto without the aid of an asauchi is to be believed, then that reiatsu sword should not exist.

Hmm, fair enough I suppose. But it seems that more and more characters seem so indifferent when fighting these days.

Along with Fullbringer arc. :ninja:

Wasn't that crap just retrace of how Ichigo first got (or rather, awakened) his shinigami power through Rukia? Even if we can take Nimaiya's words as truth, it only cements Ichigo's special snowflake status even more.

No I got the symbolism of rukia returning his powers. I just refuse to believe that ichigo's powers were quinvy in disguise. This whole business of ichigo being a hybrid of all the races is utterly ludicrous.

The whole shtick of old man Zangetsu ~=~ Bach has stomped over the memorable/emotional exchanges of the series' beginning.

I love how nimaya berates ichigo and renji for their lack of understanding their zans, when it's really kubo's fault. Ichigo only ever bothered to learn about zangetsu during the SS arc and his training with the vizards, which was really inner hollow training. But other than that? No.
I simply can't accept that Old man Zangetsu was meant to be the kind of person Bach used to be.

He wasn't. Things were changed to suit whatever's currently going on. Most everything in this series is made up on the fly. The last time anything was seriously planned out ahead of time was when the arrancars were foreshadowed after Grand Fisher's first defeat.
well there's the other zanpakuto everyone was looking for ….
Hey look, tertiary character backstory with virtually no foreshadowing!
Also, a flying centaurpede with an owl's face. Huh.
Okay, I give up.
How the hell do you go from a sniper to….whatever the FUCK that is?!
Are you trying to make us laugh Kubo?
WTF!!!! just happened…...........am out
I guess we are getting a backstory next then!!!
Well, owl be damned.
This ams sinfuls.
And I suppose that's not even his final form…
So, what's that shit again guys? It's some sort of indefinable idontknowwhatthefuckimpressionistbird?
First, Giant God Hand, now, Holy Owl Centaur.
I'm now wondering what kind of monstrosities Thor and Fabio will turn into.
Because after… that, Kubo certainly will be trying to one-up himself in the "WTF?!" factor.
Kubo has a program that generates random words; he just combines the first five things to come up and calls it a day.
The RNG really loves moths and/or butterflies for some reason.
Okay. Now let's play a game. You guys come up with 5 random things for Thor or Fabio. From the top of my head:
Thor:
The worst part is that Kubo will probably come up with something even dumber than any of us.
Judging from the comments from you guys, this looks to be a stand-out Bleach chapter if the main reason you're reading it is cuz it's dumb.
I'll check this one out.
Page 1: If this was the page you were introduced to Bleach with, would you want to keep reading? If this was the first page someone is ever introduced to the series with, I guarantee you they wouldn't be able to discern a single thing that was happening.
Page 2: Looks bizarre.
Page 3: Now it looks shitty.
Page 5: I feel "hopelessness" for the creative depth of your author.
Page 6: A streak of white covering half the page. Bleach is still Bleach I see.
Page 7: Same thing. Like, I see that there's destruction on a massive scale, but I don't care because what is destroying it is a non-thing, just a white beam with zero detail.
Page 9: No matter what symbolism Kubo is trying to achieve, I still can't stop laughing at the fact that he's trying to get me to take a goddamn angel owl thing talking about SINSSS seriously.
That should sum up how I feel. This still continues to be the worst series I've ever read. If there's worse out there, that is a feat worth applause.
Bleach Discussion 0: Sins of Owl Fathers.
Kubo and dark skinned characters….
Pretty much sums up my reaction from reading whatever the fuck is going on in Bleach immediately after reading this weeks One Piece chapter…
[hide][/hide]
Seriously though, what the hell is going on? CheesusChrist dude transformed into a half swiss-winged Owl, half marscepony creature with dry eye? Okay
Well, at the very least, GorgonzOwla quincy is more visually interesting now; visual insanity was the saving grace of the Mayuri vs A Giant Hand fight. Shame that we're back to BEEEEEAAAM spammage, and that Bird-brain gives me greater Zommari vibes than ever before, with the whole "ranting zealot" thing. All we need is a BANZAI BACHBEARD ZAMA!
Also, Nanaos mother is her sword? Which was Shunsuis? Shunsui had sex with a sword, is that right? Where does Lisa fit into all this?
I came here because I was confused as shit after reading the chapter. I thought I was just stupid. Glad to see everyone else is on the same boat.
Lol at GorgonzOwla. You have a natural talent with portmanteaus, Daz.
Kubo must be on some powerful acid or shrooms, lol.
Ok, I get that owls have awesome vision but there was nothing specifically connecting Lille and owls until he tripped out this chapter.
And he's like some centaur now. Centowl.
Translation is too weird for me to understand what exactly is going on. Nanao first wants Shunsui to take her Zan and then he says he's going to return it to her. Whatever. Glad to see the other Zan from anime is here. Someone should have guessed that was going to play some part, but I don't think a lot of people here care enough to think about Bleach too deeply.
I thought that owl-centaur-grasshopper-thingy kinda reminds me of Tweety Bird.
wait….did he like turn white from black?
That was um....interesting.....
His design...i sorta like even if it feels a bit wtf.....
On the plus side of things, at least this Quincy is proving to actually be a very formidable enemy, and didn't just go down like that....
Also, These new and improved quincy seem to be way overpowered
All hail Owlceus, creator of all knock-off Pokemon.
