Have been binge watching one piece lately, in specific Thriller Bark, Shabondy, Return to Shabondy, Punk hazard and Dressrosa and noticed that all of these arcs are barely 2 days long if at all. This has probably been asked to death, but how much time did the straw hats even spent together pre timeskip. It feels like less than a month if we include 2 days of party after each arc.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
also, do we know what happened to the Salamanderfruit after Slimey died? Did anyone pick it up from the apple bag?

This was published years ago. It makes sense that it wouldn't explicitly give the race of Pekoms and Bepo back then.
It also was probably all written by an assistant and just supervised by Oda.

I did a quick search and found this: http://apforums.net/showthread.php?t=17121
According to that, the time can be estimated to be nearly two and a half months. Of course this is entirely based only on bits of evidence and some guessing work done by the fanbase. Would be nice if Oda could give us a more precise figure some day.

I haven't re-read anything in a long time so there's a tonne of stuff I must have forgotten by now, but I'm confident that nothing was ever shown of that fruit beyond seeing it appear after Smiley's death.

My understanding was it explicitly stated Bepo N Pekoms were not of any of the tribes we know of.
Any other opinions?

It says their race is a mystery, and was published in 2012 before the Mink Tribe was shown on Zou. It really doesn't confirm anything about them.

I can't read japanese, so I'm gunna have to rely on other's translations. Here is what i've found.
The headline of the box says that they belong to unnamed species.
What's really interesting here is that Bepo, Pekoms, and Koala the three-eyed girl from Big Mom's crew are apparently listed as being unidentified species
These are the only i've found so far and they imply that they belong to a species we haven't heard about. We have heard about Minks so.. they can't be Minks.
I have a hard time with Oda okaying this if it's wrong(and he's not trying to mislead us for the purposes of the story).
I really want to hear the general consensus on this. I don't have a strong opinion either way.
Considering how Bepo wondered if there were female bears at Amazon Lily, I'm of the consensus he's literally a sentient bear.

Solid point. Minkmen are not animals, they are minkmen. They should have no sexual interest in regular animals..

Hears new chapter is out. Forgets stupid argument and geeks out.
I'm about to start a re-read of the entire series. What is the best place to do this? In the early chapters I think many sites use the same translation, but I wonder which site is best to use when getting to the newer chapters. Since nowadays mangastream beats mangapanda and such. I'd like to consistently use one source to re-read the whole thing and not switch halfway if possible.

I doubt you'll be able to read the older volumes in good quality / translation on the Internet. However, for the most recent ones, I suggest :
Powermanga.org (http://read.powermanga.org/latest/1/)
(chapter 717 to current chapter)
VizAnon's album (http://vizanon.imgur.com/)
And cnet (https://mangahelpers.com/t/cnet128/archives/translation?manga=906)
Was it ever mentioned that a mermaid and a human had a child together?
Since mermaids after the age of 30 could walk on land i suppose it's possible, right?

kokoro did that since chimney is 1/4 marmaid

Kokoro had a half human child (son, I think). That's why Chimney is a quarter mermaid
Yes, Kokoro has an unnamed son who was half-human, he in turn fathered Chimney with a human woman.
But there are also some half-fishmen (which only difference is whether the mer/fish parent had a tail or legs, otherwise same race)
Wotans are half-fishman/half-giant. Big Pan of the Foxy Pirates is a wotan.
(one in yellow gloves in the back)
Before Dellinger, the first half-fishman/half-human shown was Sapi, in Lougetown .

Try re-reading in color on batoto: http://bato.to/comic/_/comics/one-piece-digital-colored-comics-r10004 You'll need to sign up.

IMO,you should download and then read the volumes for good quality.since batoto has taken down the normal black&white version anyway, there is no decent place left to read online if you want to read the normal version.i'd suggest bakabt. it's the best collection of the manga.
of course,if you want to read the colored version, just read it on batoto.
I just want to read it in black and white and quality has not been an issue so far. All I want to know is from what point on I should use what site to get the good translations, is what I'm most concerned about. So far the best answer I have gotten to that is Powermanga, which apparently uses the good translations. But they only have from 717 onwards. But the division between mangapanda-bad and mangastream-good translations must have started earlier than that.

That's where I'm reading for the time being. But they don't use mangastream translations. What I want is the site where I can get the good translations from the earliest point possible.
this has always bothered me, and not only in one piece, in dragon ball z for example, goku could probably teach instant teleportation to everyone easy.
in one piece, ussop just awakened his observation haki but he didn't even mention to anyone that he could somehow see luffy and law so far away, luffy and zoro could explain to him that it was haki and help him train it a bit, but nothing like that is shown to us yet. Things like this happen often in the story and while i can understand it from a story telling view, it just doesn't seem realistic.
end of rant:getlost:
Ain't nobody got time for that.
(I agree it makes no sense, but…)
Usopp doesn't even know he was using Observation Haki. He's completely unaware what was occurring.
And what's there to talk about? The crew already knows what their basic abilities are. They already know that each of them are strong and have gotten stronger in their own unique way.
Usopp doesn't even know he was using Observation Haki. He's completely unaware what was occurring.
i know, but he did realize something not normal happened.
and the fact that he doesn't even know what haki is, or what observation haki is, is another example of what im saying, how is it possible that such an important knowledge isn't being passed to the whole crew?
Usopp knows what haki is, but it's only a basic, off-hand perspective from seeing Luffy use it. The entire crew saw him use CoC at Fishman Island.

by quality i meant both picture quality and translation quality.for old volumes, mangafox or any other site like it,has probably old scans, which are barely readable and often have the never forgotten translations like "tounjido lauflamingo" and stuff like it.not to mention even if the translation is understandable, chances of which are low, they compress the pages and make them look more like shit.
one piece is quite a long and old manga, and mangastream/mangapanda are relatively new.so,one piece has been translated by a variety of groups.the bakabt torrent collects the best scanlations for the manga.batoto was the only place which had the good versions of the chapters for online reading, and even then a lot of chapters were missing because some groups didn't want batoto hosting them.
so,bakabt is the only option if you want the good scanlations, but if you don't want to download for some reason and only want to read online, then there really is not much choice.just read wherever you want,it won't make much difference
at the end,it's your choice.

I'm at chapter 200 now and so far I have had very few issues. Next to none, actually. Of course the picture quality isn't great but I didn't expect that of the older chapters to begin with.

You're going to run into piss poor translations in the 30s volumes. things should be good until volume 25. 26-29 are good image quality wise but suffer in some places where there is complex dialogue (not often, but once in a while). Nitoryu's 30-31 is excellent. 32-39 fluctuates from average to "what the fuck is this" (nitoryu is working on redoing these). 40-50 you'll see a gradual but sure improvement of the translations. After volume 50, you'll start running into cnet's translations, which are almost professional quality. these should carry you into the powermanga chapters.
the problem here is, most of these "good scanlations" are done at a later date than the weekly chapters. which means they're not always on aggregate websites. Hence why people are suggesting downloading the bakabt torrent.

I would assume knowing when to expect bad translations even on the website hosting the bakabt content would be helpful.
To get to the admiral position, you would have to be a vice-admiral, right?
So, with that in mind, isnt it very possible that Green Bull is not a new character, but rather someone we already know?
that said, we didnt knew Issho, so its like a 50/50 percent chance in my opinion, cause too many people are being introduced..dont know how oda will manage to handle everyone
(i know that it didnt sound like a question, but i would really like to know what some of you guys think about it )

Both Fujiitora and Ryogukyu were recruited via the WG's global conscription. He was not a Marine prior.

As SC Amigo said no. They were conscripted directly to the position of Admiral.
I'm on chapter 346 of One Piece.
If Iceburg didn't want people to know about the blueprints, wouldn't he just burn them? Why pass it around generation to generation? Wouldn't that just increase the risk of someone finding it?
Again, I'm only on 346. I forgot a lot about the water 7 saga and I'm rereading it for the first time in several years.

Holy shit. I'm on a re-read as well and I just finished reading chapter 345. The coincidence.
So from what I've been reading just 5 minutes ago, Iceberg is saying that the blueprint was devised so that if the weapon Pluton ever fell into the wrong hands, a second one could be created to counter the first. The shipwrights were keeping them for that purpose. However, he does say that "once the government knew he had them, he should have burned them", so he did realise his mistake.
EDIT: source: http://mangasee.co/manga/?series=OnePiece&chapter=344&index=1&page=12
From here he starts discussing Pluton. On page 15 he says that he should have burned it.
EDIT 2: Actually no, on page 16 he says that he couldn't burn them because as long as Robin is alive, there was a chance that the weapon would be awakened. So then he would have needed the blueprints to counter that. With the way it is translated it first sounds like he regrets not burning them and then he immediately says he couldn't have as long as Robin was alive. Anyways, I guess it's that.

My turn for a question: what are the 8 points mentioned? When I think of what they could be, I only arrive at 7: the 4 Blues, Grand Line, New World, and perhaps also Mariejoa, although that one is questionable.

at marijoa we have cp0 which is not part of those 8..probably oda. didn't have 8 specifics points in. mind
When Whitebeard attacked and Shanks intervened, die all of them go through fishman island? Seems quite the hastle to always go through Fishman island.

well,yeah..it's the only path from paradise to new world for pirates..also,the other path involves get rid of your ship on the other side, which is not possible either since both of them were on their main ship

Maju's right, the only other way is to go through Marijois on the top (straight above Fishman Island) and as he said, they would have had to leave the ship behind and get a new ship BUT also needs permission to travel through the Holy City, something they would never give to pirates.
It wasn't a case of passing the calm belts (which I think Yonkou crew can do, I mean certain marine ships can) here it was the Red Line, that giant wall, that blocked their way so no short cut sailing there. so the only way they went through was Fishman Island
In chapter 356, they say "Shihousen".
They're obviously just referring to the judiciary ship of course right?
