Anyone see signs of being charged yet? Rightstuf is getting worse and worse lately ever since the new site came around. It's less than a week away at this point.

My local anime store has been getting shipments later and later as well.
I questioned them, and was told that FUNimation has changed distributors again. Probably related to their deal with Universal. My store had to go into their contacts to find a company that deals with Universal in order to get products faster. He promised me they're working on it.
-
Shame. Guess there's no longer benefit to buying from rightstuf. Will move my business to Amazon. At least we have the elite early release.
-
Lmfao! It's official. Rightstuf is the worst place to buy anime online now. LOL
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
How do you fuck up your own Corporation now? XD
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
You made Amazon Elite look better in comparison. Now that's sad.

is it everything or is this just a result of FUNi's switch to Universal for their distribution?
*I have this upcoming Voyage on preorder from RighStuf but it's basically the first thing I've preordered since April. I'm still waiting for my April "preorder" for No Game No Life to ship. At this point I've basically made it a game, yeah I could send them an email and end the process but I'm just going to keep waiting and maybe their system will let them know I should have gotten it a month ago! (the end of the game will probably come next April, if/when it hasn't shipped by then I'll just send them a cancellation email and say something like "I'm just going to get this from Amazon instead, at least I know I'll get it in 2 days instead of have to wait a year!"). This is basically why I've stopped preordering for now, I don't trust their new system, I don't want to have to keep sending emails asking when an instock item is going to ship when their system should be doing this for them.
-
I see Monica Rial brought out her "rough" voice for Ran.
I want to figure out who voices Hancock, darn it it sounds so familar. Marigold's and Sandersonia's voices seem to be on point.

If you watch Fairy Tail the person who voices Hancock also does the voice of Ultear, Llydia Mackay

Oh snap Nagasumi's mother from My Bride Is a Mermaid? Not my first pick, but I guess it could work.

I'm not entirely sure that was Monica Rial. I thought so at first but after watching the trailer a couple times it doesn't quite seem like her voice to me. Actually, her voice kind of reminds me of Ms. Monday’s voice, so I’m thinking Clairine Harp.
I’m pretty sure Marigold is Julie Mayfield (who was Kureha) and Sandersonia…seems familiar, but I can’t recall from where…

Hmm I'm still banking it being her. To clarify: we ARE taking about the same Kuja right? The one who aimed an arrow at Luffy, one eye closed, next to Daisy (orange-haired one that always laughs)
-
^^Yeah, that's the one I was talking about.
-
You can blame Right Stuf all you want, but just about every retailer I've contacted doesn't have the set yet. Funimation is really not releasing this one early.
-
Hey I don't plan on leaving Rightstuf yet. I've been with them for years now so I plan to stick it out for a few more months to see if things improve. That's a fair point about this likely being FUNi if none of the other retailers are getting it early. But I still haven't been impressed with some of the new changes we've had forced on us since Rightstuf changed their site. And we have admittedly been pretty spoiled getting it a month or three weeks early in the past. But I'd like it to ship out before the date and not on the date since shipping will be late.
-
just going to put these interesting tweets here.
This is as close of a confirmation that they are working on marine ford right as we are going to get for the time being.
Well something is better than nothing right, i am very anxious to get to Marineford, the very best arc in my opinion other than the ending :(
-
Honestly I don't think I can stress this point enough: Funimation will continue the series until the end. Confirmation of future seasons or not.
-
Funimation will continue the series until the end.
It depends on whether the DVDs continue to sell. That shouldn't be an issue for a while since Impel Down and Marineford are popular arcs and will most definitely sell well. However I could see them dropping the show if sales suffer during the Fishman Island releases.

Sorry, but you're going to have to provide a lot of supporting evidence to get me to buy that.

We've seen from shows like Sgt. Frog, D. Gray-man, and Toriko that Funimation isn't afraid to end the dub of a show if the revenue it brings doesn't justify the costs to produce it. After all, they're a business. One Piece is fine right now, but I wouldn't outright guarantee they will continue to dub such a long show until the end without taking things into account such as licensing costs and DVD sales.
-
But even in America, One Piece is vastly more popular than the shows you listed. So even low sales will probably be better than the highest sales for those other shows.
I don't think they'll ever drop it. The only questions how long the breaks will be between seasons.
-

None of the shows you listed have lasted as long as One Piece has. These shows were dropped because they never really established a large enough fanbase for them (or at least the dubs anyway); they didn’t last for several years before suddenly getting dropped, like you seem to think might happen with One Piece.
The fact that the Funimation One Piece dub has lasted over 400 episodes and has continued over 8 years suggests that its managed to gain a large-enough fanbase committed to buying the DVDs. I don’t see that changing, even with an unpopular arc like Fishman Island.
-
Ok, I'm wrong then (I hope) and I apologize for even suggesting such a terrible thing.
-

You don't have to apologize for suggesting it. This is a discussion forum designed for such things. There just isn't really any reason to believe that funimation is going to stop dubbing anytime soon, especially when there was talk of broadcast dubs and them wanting to catch up to the Japanese.
And on the subject of fishman island, I honestly don't get why that arc gets the hate that it does. Particularly when there is a lot of plot revelations in this arc. Reminds me a lot of the Skypeia hate.

Not to mention Josh stating on the Podcast at least twice that talks are underway to see if they can get the licenses to the other movies, and the odds of the two recent Specials that were simulcast being dubbed (both of which were also post-timeskip) were very likely. It's been made abundantly clear that the audience is there and it'll be ok.
Heck, as Elan_Morin points out, Season 3's Skypeia was a rather unpopular arc in the grand scheme of things (maybe even more than FI), and most of the arc was released dubbed (and even uncut) years before the DVD release. At least for Fishman Island it has the advantage of coasting on the hype of the first post-timeskip dub material since Film Z's release.

Good Funimation. Rise from your gravestone and control the population of the states. Spreads your around town and give me live! XD
-

I assume to dub since in the UK they (they not being FUNi of course) released the first 9 movies in subformat
i mean dubs for ALL of them would be cool but as far as some of the movies go, I'd be fine with just having a sub option
-
Yes, to dub. FUNi's never announced any plans for sub-only One Piece.
-
I really hope that they are not wasting time and resources on those other movies which are not important in my opinion, instead they should dub 3D2Y and episode of Sabo, while preparing for a broadcast dub once Dressrosa finishes
-

I think quite the opposite. The other movies provide a gateway for new listeners and are (for the most part) very well produced, sometimes great productions. 3D2Y and Episode of Sabo are hit-or-miss at best. Not only that, but they leave new fans in the dark.
Josh said on our show that 3D2Y and Sabo will be dubbed, but it's just a question of when. I don't think either need to be in production until at least 2016 or 2017 (when the very-likely Season 8 is complete). I hope the movies begin rolling out before then. It's probably a very tough negotiation process with Toei, maybe for the rights for each movie, the soundtrack, etc., It may still be a while.
-
As someone who wants as much dub of One Piece I can get, I'd like to see everything dubbed and released in chronological order, starting with movie 1. I personally think that they could prioritize the series where the dub is currently at and move forward, and have another director work on the movies & specials. Although with the broadcast dubs, all the directors have been super busy, and have been working to get multiple shows out. I'm all for a One Piece broadcast dub, BUT I think I'd like to see more talent outside Texas, and they may be trickier to bring into Funimation weekly.
Regarding season 8, I'm glad that we may possibly see it sooner rather than later! My biggest worry right now is the episode numbers, whether we see the Toriko crossovers or not I'd like to see the dvd's keep the original episode count (so it would look like 490, 491, 493, 494 etc. through to 516). This way, for me at least as I take note of the animators, it'll be easier to keep track of episode information online. I don't know if there's a way we can contact the relevant people about this, how would everyone else like to see the episode count for season 8?

I assume they'll keep the episode numbers the same. Unlike with Toriko they actually kept the episode numbering accurate to the Japanese version for the simulcast, despite skipping these episodes. If they can't get the rights to the crossover episodes I think they'll just put some form of disclaimer at the beginning of the DVD explaining the skipped episodes, kind of like they did with ending 14
-
I dont understand why they wouldnt be able to dub the crossover when Funimation has dubbed all of the Anime involved in it
-
Just realized the voyage comes out tomorrow and rightstuf hasn't even shipped yet. Just cancelled my order. Put in an order at Amazon and they say it's not even in stock yet. Wow. Guess I'll have to check a best buy. You'd think Universal would be good at distributing on time since they're a way larger corporation. But I guess even they aren't above rocky starts.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
And who knows about the Toriko episode. It might just be acquisitioned as another episode of One Piece, but one that happens to have characters from another anime.
And I'm way more interested in getting the movies over the episode specials. The movies tend to be better, overall. I'd prefer to get them in order, but it looks like funimation is going after them one at a time, so I'll look forward to movie six next.
-
Possibly relevant stuff to FUNi having the crossover episodes:
-
Each crossover is made up of a full episode of Toriko and a full episode of One Piece. The Japanese DVDs acknowledge them in the episode counts, even though they are usually skipped.
-
In Japan, the first crossover was originally released split up. The Toriko episode was on the first Toriko Volume, and the One Piece episode was on the One Piece Hero Special DVD alongside also-skipped Chopperman episode.
-
Later, a set containing the first two crossovers in full was released.
-
The third crossover doesn't look like it has been released at all on DVD in Japan.
-
The Enies Lobby recaps, Chopperman episode Grand Jipang sequels were also skipped on the regular Japanese DVDs, but FUNimation included them as any other episodes.
-
FUNimation's episode numbering for One Piece includes the crossovers, but the Toriko numbering ignores them.
-
The first and second crossovers were eventually added to Crunchyroll (as a Toriko and One Piece episode each), but the third isn't.
-
They were all skipped on the french DVDs.
It looks like the crossovers are their own license, and the third one isn't available yet. That leaves the question of whether it's worth it for FUNi to license them separately only to include them as extra episodes anyway.

Amazon got Season 7, Voyage 3 for 27.99 for preorder.

It was #3 on Amazon's anime list yesterday, maybe they sold out?

Right Stuf didn't have any orders in when I called up yesterday. Which is something very "un Right Stuf like".
Right Stuf recently delivered my copy of Fate Stay Night UBW's a week early, so something is up on Funimation's end I'm thinking.
edit:
Rob's Anime Corner Store doesn't have any in stock either and that place usually always gets stuff either early or the day of release.
Something is defiantly up with Funimation
-
@Zach:

Nah, no one has gotten it yet. They can be a #3 preorder without anything in stock.
-
@Zach:

Possible, but unlikely. I had mine pre-ordered since July 8th and I received an email this morning saying there's been a delay in shipment. I don't know how Amazon processes it's pre-orders (first-come first-serve or alphabetically, etc) so I won't deny the possibility they sold out before reaching my order. But it's an automatic emailing so it doesn't provide specifics as to the cause of the delay but given that Best Buy and Rightstuf also don't have it does indicate that there is a larger issue involved.
If this drags on for more than a couple days, though, Funimation really needs to make a statement.
-
I preorder on Amazon as well. From what looks like it being delayed until October 1st.
-
What are you basing the Oct 1st date upon? If it is the email sent by amazon asking for approval in delay, that is simply indicating they will cancel the item if they don't hear from you regarding if you approve of disapprove the delay by Oct 1st.
-
Yeah it's bullshit we don't even have a shipping confirmation when it's the day of the release. It's clear this is a warehouse problem with FUNi but they need to step their game up. It's not like they haven't had a couple months to work out any last minute problems.

That is very interesting, to say the least. I'm a completionist myself so I'd like to see it all dubbed. I personally really liked 3D2Y but the Sabo special was okay at best. Either way, I'm interested in seeing them dubbed so I'm glad we have confirmation of them happening at some point. I'd definitely like to see the old movies and specials as well but time will tell. I really don't want the crossover specials to be skipped but if they never get dubbed I'll deal with it and move on.
-
Episode of Nami is the best special I've seen. Though the first one with the bone fellow and the second one wth the island of monsters was pretty fun.
-
Episode of Nami is the best special I've seen.
Agreed. Some choices to… "Update" Nami's character design to match modern Nami aside, it feels better than all the other "Episode of" Specials since it adapts a reasonably short arc, so it didn't have to cut too much out or rush too much.
-

amazon is now saying: "Usually ships within 3 to 5 weeks."
-
Hopefully this situation with Funimation get resolved soon as possible. So that we all can enjoy this set.

Rather funny how Funimation is advertising Season 7 voyage 2 on facebook, yet no one seems to have it.
-
I'm actually not as ticked off as you all are about this because I have elite. Elite's video buffering skips frame sometimes, though, so that's annoying.

I thought this was funny, too. Do they not even know it yet?

I want Funi to get around to dubbing the Glorious Island special that goes along with Film Z. It's a cute little short, and it's just a bummer that it wasn't done from the start in order to be included in the Film Z DVD release.
