Amazon shipped out Season 7, Voyage 2 today. I should have it by Wednesday. The delay is probably due to Funimation and Universal deal.

I wish amazon would hurry up and get it (and show it as instock on their site) so I can finally cancel that rightstuf order
-
I wish One Piece had some long filler for once, so there would be more room between the anime and manga.
me too farfel. THE PACE OF THE ANIME IS SO BAD RIGHT NOW.
-
I tried tweeting Funimation but I'm an idiot when it comes to Twitter so god knows if the message was delivered or not.
-
I actually don't mind the pacing. It's a little slow, but usually the directors are good enough to make me feel like a decent amount has happened to justify my fifteen minutes. Helps that the current arc was busy as hell on a chapter to chapter basis. Being way more fast paced than say, Fishmen Island, leads to more bearable episodes regards pacing. But every so often, I'll agree that an episode/chapter comes along that just didn't have enough in it.

If there was a way to "like" posts, I'd be liking this one.

And here I thought I'd be flamed for the Fishman Island dis. Thank you, ma'am/sir.

I do not agree zeph. OP IS SO LONG ALREADY so the slow episodes will make it ONE THOUSAND EPISODES OR MORE. they should have fillers instead going so slow.

I'm gonna put this in spoiler tags since I mention arcs not yet dubbed and I'm not sure about the rules in this thread:
! I stopped watching sometime on Punk Hazard and have just recently started watching again (Law's flashback). The flashback was well-paced, I thought, but generally One Piece is slow. I think like a half to a full year of filler would give a decent amount of space. I prefer filler-arcs over filler in canon episodes since they're easily skipped over if they suck.
! I still wish they would've adapted the rest of the cover stories before the time skip. And episode or two for each of them would've been a decent amount of episodes.
! Also, I forget, did we get "From the Decks of the World" after the return to Sabaody in the anime? -
meh, of course the old Fullmetal Alchemist anime doesn't have any problems being instock early at RightStuf
*looks like it's instock at rakuten (formerly buy.com) so I cancelled my RS order and went with them instead.
-

Nope, Toei skipped it completely.
-
Definitely no one will ever argue against the fact that they should have made the cover stories, which would have been enjoyable to watch and would have helped the pacing of the current episodes a bit. But as things are now, it's really not the worst pacing, as you admit about the recent flashback. Yes, it's a bit slower, but sometimes I actually prefer to see some of the character reactions expounded upon.
Tldr: it's a little slower than it could be, but not enough to be a major problem imo.
-
I have to agree with zephray here. I don't really mind the slowness of the current arc save for a few episodes, and I think for the most part they have been doing pretty good on the implied filler. I think what really annoys me about the current episodes are the fact that Toei isn't trying to keep a constant quality in the art and animation. it really is annoying and jarring to switch to some really high quality art to basically no animation at all within a few seconds. I think if Toei fixes this problem, I think more people will be able to enjoy watching the anime on a weekly basis.

I always feel like sometimes I'm the only one who enjoys the anime, even in its current state. Glad to see that isn't the case.

Agreed. And while I do want to defend that an episode a week doesn't give enough time for exceptional animation, I also realize the boatloads (pun intended) of money this show bring in, so they can probably afford to hire a few more good artists to get he job done.

Nah, people just like to complain because it's better for conversation than complimenting, and forums are for conversation, not endless praise. I think that, on average, people enjoy the show more than it seems because they only voice their negatives because the negatives are better for conversation. Also, they wouldn't be watching the show if they didn't enjoy aspects of it.
This goes back to whoever yelled at me for critiquing the dub a few pages ago. Obviously, I love the dub, but I probably talk more about the problems on here because there's only so much praising you can talk about.
-
Yeah, like that time I pointed out the simple fact that the dub pronounces the "Enies" in "Enies Lobby" wrong, and somebody white knighting the dub decided to go into full blown flamewar meltdown on Zephray and I…
Simple as it is, this show isn't beyond criticism and criticizing an aspect of the show isn't tantamount to outright hating it or attacking it.
That being said, I've had problems with the pacing for quite some time. Enies Lobby was the last arc of the show where you could find episodes that adapted more than one chapter of content peppered in there. There were a good chunk of 1.5 and 2 chapter episodes in EL. Starting with Thriller Bark, it was hard-line 1-chap-per-ep pacing from then on, and I've hated it ever since. Dressrosa's gotten worse since now it's even less. like 0.75 chapters per episode.
It's true that marathoning it helps lessen the blow. The pacing doesn't feel quite as bad if you watch it in several episode chunks since you can see a lot of things happening quickly that way, but it's still pretty bad.
I know a lot of people hate them, but filler arcs are a necessary evil. With stand alone filler arcs, you can entirely skip them in repeated viewings of the show and not bat an eyelash. Doing it the way they're doing it now, you're stuck with the poorly paced filler fluff in every episode staring you in the face.
I'm still supporting the series because FUNi does a fine job and I want to support it, but I still REALLY wish Toei would get their act together.
-

That the Dressrosa arc itself in the manga feels as if its dragged out just adds to the anime pacing problems.
I, for one, have always liked filler and have always made the argument that it actually enhances something like One Piece. Take out all of the pre-New World filler and hey, let's face it, he Straw Hats sailed half way around the world way too fast. In my opinion, the filler arcs have helped to keep this feeling of realistic travel times.
-
I actually think Sabaody (the second half in particular) is pretty well-paced. Those last five or so episodes had sufficient shit happening. But yeah, Thriller Bark was a little rough. Even Enies Lobby was at points. All on an arc by arc basis determinate on these factors- how much is actually happening in the manga, how good the directors are, etc.
-
I have no problem with Toei adding extended scenes to expand upon stuff Oda skimmed over or skipped such as off-screen fights or what we call "implied filler". For example, in the most recent episode seeing how Luffy took down the Doffy clone was nice in my opinion since I'm fairly certain we only saw the aftermath in the manga. The only real issues I have, and I think I speak for the majority of us, is scenes like in the same recent episode where characters stare at each other for 60 seconds while breathing hard. Or when scenes take forever to pan out in between dialogue. SOMETIMES such scenes play well but most of the time they're a bit of a chore to sit through. I for one overall still find enjoyment in the majority of episodes even with the pacing problems, except when we have 5 episodes of Rebecca boob jiggles and panty shots in the colosseum like we had last year.
EDIT: Oh yes, I was finally charged at Rightstuff.
-
Enies Lobby was the last arc of the show where you could find episodes that adapted more than one chapter of content peppered in there.
Actually, the episode where the SH's fought the flying fish riders in Sabaody covered 2 full chapters IIRC.
-
^Also episodes 372 and 373 from Thriller Bark both covered about 2 chapters worth of material each…...but yeah, not usually more than a chapter each episode.
-
Guess I should have kept my order at rightstuf. Reserving at Amazon shows they have no idea when it'll come.
-
I have an Amazon account. Let me tell you something about the birds and the bees….
I.

It's really hard to tell. I was very close to canceling rightstuf and going with amazon myself. I just happened to wait long enough I guess. You could try placing the order again on rightstuf and seeing what goes through first but there's the chance they could go through at the same time and that would suck.

Also, an option that people never talk about- why doesn't the anime just go on break for two months a year like American shows? That'd be fine by me. Will give them more time to make better quality stuff, and won't have any filler crap.

Cause One Piece is the exception to the rule. Even Naruto has to run until it reaches its climax. One Piece doesn't need that much filler. And even if Japan pulls a two month break like the Americans can. It would also cancel the anime as well. People have to pay money just to work on the shows you know?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
And unlike live action shows. Animes have to take the source material from the manga itself. That's why most of the recent superhero comic book adaptions are almost all live action. Some can get an animated plot. But it's not enough to support the animation ghetto Industry. (No I'm not talking about Black people making shows about gangster shit.) XD
-
I'm pretty sure it's because Toei heavily relies on One Piece to fund a good chunk of their other shows. Taking it off the air would likely hurt consistent merchandise sales, which is really bad for the momentum the brand has had within the last decade. Granted, it's nowhere like it was 4-6 years ago, but One Piece is still big enough for Toei to depend on.
And yeah, it needs filler. Badly. But it's One Piece; lots of kids will watch it anyway regardless of quality. Why go out of your way and spend more to make it better if it won't really matter at the end of the day? I hate to say it but it's a good business decision. I'm not saying this is the reason why they chose awful padding in favor of necessary filler, it's just what I think based on observation.
-
It's this phrase where people believe that cartoons aimed at kids are only for kids while cartoons aimed at adults are only for adults as well.
America is a very strange country and I was born in it. lol

How do they pronounce it? I've always basically said "Anus Lobby" >_>
-

They pronounce it "Eh-neez" like they're a Canadian saying "Eh Knees".
It SHOULD be "Eh-nee-ehz"…. quite literally it's as if they should be calling it "N-E-S Lobby" or "Nintendo Entertainment System Lobby" lol. -
Welp, my S7v2 is now "Preparing to Ship" from Amazon. Also their site seems to be listing voyage two as: "In stock but may require an extra 1-2 days to process. "

Truth is Japanese TV doesn't work like that. Toei pays for that timeslot and it's clear they don't want to waste it. Something similar happened to Fairy Tail but that seemed to be the exception to the rule, plus that series isn't as big a juggarnaut as OP is needless to say so the impact wasn't nearly as big as it'd be if that happened to OP.

My RightStuf order still hasn't shipped. Getting pretty antsy, it's been a week since it was released now.

Finally in stock at Amazon. Mine just shipped.

Finally in stock at Amazon. Mine just shipped.
Finally got mine today. Over a week late, but better late than never I suppose.
-
I got Season 7, Voyage 2 yesterday. The dub for the ending of the Sabaody Archipelago arc was great in my opinion. Kizaru's english voice continues to be great in my opinion. Margaret, Nyon, and Aphelandra voices are great as well in my opinion.
-
To those who have received their Voyage 2 DVDs, who are on the commentaries?
-
Got mine in the mail, but it's all damaged. Will be ordering a replacement from Amazon. What a fun set this has been. Can't wait to see if we're in for it with the next one, too.
Speaking of, the next set is only a month away. Will have to ration these past four episodes and treat the separation as a mini hiatus.
And I was surprised to hear that Kizaru does drag out some of his words. Maybe not as much as in the original, but much better than his movie appearance. And the voice is still spot on for me. Love him and all of the other supernovas, too. Getting used to Kidd and Bonny, who I was hesitant towards at first. Hawkins is so perfect, though.

Funimation's website has now put up the release date for Voyage 4, so its official.
-
So has Rigtstuf not been early with its releases for a while now?
-
So has Rigtstuf not been early with its releases for a while now?
More like Funimation is not releasing their DVD/Blu Ray set's early
-
Most likely has to do with the new distribution agreement with Universal.
-
Space Dandy just shipped out. Only a week early. Yeah, I don't think we'll be getting funimation releases really early anymore.
-
One Piece Season 7, Voyage 4 is up for preorder on rightstuf now. The set will be covering Episodes 422 - 433.
-
So we'll be a third of the way through Impel Down before year's end…Kind of surreal honestly.
-
Yeah the pacing FUNimation has been releasing season 7 at has been great. The current gap is the largest so far and it's not even a full two months. If they keep this up, they'll catch up sooner than we thought!
-
This is probably unlikely, but, could it be possible that they went ahead and recorded a lot of season seven awhile ago, since non of the strawhats were are really in it and now that they are caught up they just have to record luffy and that's why they are able to release them so fast?
-
@Elektrik:

Is it possible for companies to do that??? If so that is pretty awesome
