i think luffy will go gear 5 next week
Chapter 798: Heart
-
-
Heres comes a weird theory from a stoned guy.
The gorilla was shown earlier in this arc. its when a toy turned into a gorilla in the colesuem.
So, My theory is, The goat is still somewhere there in the marines battleship..
But Sengoku just remembered he had a gorilla pet a way back.. he prolly lost while visiting Dressrosa. (Sugar's doing)Or as some of my stoned friends posted earlier.. He had to adopt a pet that would remind him Monkey D. Garp

@Daz:
I don't think Law is gonna meet Doffy in person at this point; for all other villains, the KO was literally the curtain call on their role in the arc. All thats left for Law to do is to reflect on "right, what I'm gonna do with my life post-Doflamingo is…".
Good chapter. I'm very happy that Leo got to stitch the warships together, and I even think I saw Wicca in one panel! I still hope the dwarves don't just revert back to being completely hidden, but for now, this is a logical way of bringing up the "thieving fairies" plot-element again.
Luffys change in attitude towards Admirals makes sense, and "If someone blocks me and my freedom, I'll blow them away, no matter who they are!" Seems more fitting for his character than "I'll deliberately seek out and take down any potential threats to my freedom!"
And Laws convo with Sengoku (with the proper Aohige translation) is nice; as readers we of course never questioned Rocinantes intentions, but I can buy that Law, in his heart of hearts, even as he dedicated his life to finishing Rocinantes work, had some uncertainty that could be cleared up. I would have liked Law to havea few more lines though; he questions Sengoku once about the will of D, but otherwise its just Sengoku talking. Idunno, its hard to describe, I might just be missing an angle here, or its the translation again, but it didn't feel entirely organic; maybe if we'd seen it from the very beginning? Something about Law going "Talk!" and Sengoku then going off for several pages just throws me off a little bit. Bleh. Thats just me though. I still like the sentiments and Law getting emotional is nice to see.
However, the Rocinante being like a son to Sengoku falls kinda flat for me. Its not that I don't buy that he cared, but I don't think the buildup was there to make him care that much. Maybe if someone had mentioned "Sengoku lost his marine son to pirates, thats why he's so serious" at some earlier point in the series- Or hell, can you imagine if Doflamingo had teased him about it in his original appearance? Holy shit, this'd hit with the force of a jetplane.Thats just minor though. Oda taking his time with one plot-element at a time is something I always like to see.
I can´t deny that it is a bit convenient to have Sengoku and Law talk about Rocinante like they did, and yeah, besides Rocinante having been found, we have not seen any kind of panel or scene that underlined Roci´s importance to Sengoku, not even in the secrets reports between them that were really more about the undercover business than anything but for me, that was overshadowed by Law finally having his closure, being freed from having to take revenge.
The scenarios you thought about are not working either though, remember Roci´s assignment was top secret, i doubt even Tsuru knew about his existence (Tsuru said on the way to Dressrosa that Sengoku was the one who would always send her) and what Sengoku said this chapter made clear that nobody knew about Corazon and that he only was able to talk with Law about Rocinante, probably the main reason why he let Law go in the first place, though, like he said, his retirement probably plays a role in that as well.
In that sense, DD deducing a connection between Sengoku and Rocinante seems impossible as well. -
Thanks aohige. Great chapter, very cool seeing non admiral sengoku and luffy attacking Fuji
And whoever is bringing up the mingo fight: no Luffy would kill Minngo in a 1v1. He was using Hali for the whole damn day and exerting too much getting to the fight and even still ran out like 10s too soon before he was able to finish the fight. In a straight 1v1 he would've owned him no prob
-
Hmm…
Oh, I just realised something, looking at the chapter again.
Floating rubble seems to indicate that the range on Fuji's power is quite impressive. If so...
Could he not simply raise the ship that the straw hats board with his power, thus making their escape impossible.
Because, if that is the case, he needs to be beaten for them to escape, right?
-

Don't bring it up on your own. -

Good point

And we still don't have a confirmation on Mingo's true feelings. I wonder if Oda is going to keep ambiguous about how he truly saw his family and brother. Although I do also wonder how Cora-san and Doffy got separated from each other. Did Cora-san run away from him when he killed their father?

If only the strawhats had an ally who can easily manipulate objects like ships even if they are under control of Fuji's gravity.
-
I don't know where is the story going with this turn of events. Seriously, is it going berserk mode the best way to advance in the NW? Well maybe it's Luffy's mode, despite all what we have seen up to now is that strategies or alliances are necessary
Well, Luffy's attitude make sense with what he did in Fishman island when he challenged BM. Maybe it's a sign that he has lost his mind and easily goes berserk mode against the big ones and needs a lesson before being able to properly advance over them. I don't know. Maybe Fuji is the most convenient teacher to give Luffy a lesson about it, since it would be much worse if it were Sakasuki and not Fuji there.
-

You mean Law? I don't he thus far presented a skill that would help him in that situation.
Then again, his is the most broken ability of all, so who knows? I still haven't figured out why he hasn't simply made Doflamingo exchange places with a rock on sea bottom.
-
Is Farul confirmed being dead?
-
-
Yes, Farul's perfectly alive.
-
I just missed, but the last panel with Barto and Sai is pretty darn funny.

If you look closely, Cavendish is with them, too.

I remember Law easily using Tact against one of Fuji's meteors.
He has also used Tact on a Marine Battleship before at Punk Hazard too.
He could theoretically Shambles the ship away too.
-

True, but Tact was only show to move things upwards thus far. Plus, if he simply pushes the ship down, it will be momentarily put it in the water again, only to be immediatly lifted by Fuji's power… again.
Unless Tact can work as a constant force pointing downwards that can overcome Fuji's gravitational powers. Can it? Dunno, probably if Oda chooses so.

Tact can go at any direction as long as Law points to it.
And I suppose it can go against Fuji's gravity considering that it's a technique that defies gravity. I mean, Law should have absolute control over anything in his Room.
Law could also Shambles the ship away as well, but that would require a very big Room.
Though I suppose this is not supposed to be something we should think too much about. Fuji's intention is to drop all that rubble on them, which is also a valid tactic (and also Rule of Cool).
-

This ain't a option. Fujitora is capable to get off a meteor from space or throw away a battleship, that ship doesn't go anywhere if Fujitora doesn't allow it.
-

Law should have power over anything in his Room. This is why he can easily redirect a meteor with a literal finger flick.
He could switch the ship with a bird or a cloud or whatever, outside of Fuji's range.
We literally have two people with "psychic powers" in the scene right now, so it's hard to predict what would happen.
-

the ship can go anywhere they want and fuji can't do anything about it..what in fuji's powers screams "denying teleport" for you?
-
I expect the fight between Luffy and Fujitora to be interrupted because I don't think Luffy is ready for this. Waiting for Big Mom to make an appearance.
-
There's a lot going on this chapter, but I'll get to the ending first. No there will not be a gear 5th next chapter. God, at least I hope not. Think about who Luffy has on his side right now. All of the fighters, Law, Zoro, "god Ussop". If they all fought the admiral, I don't see fuji winning. But sadly, I don't think the fight will happen at all, no more then a scuffle. Dressrosa's already seen WAYYYYYYY too much damage and i don't think Issho is that kind of person?
Anyway loved the tontatta this chapter, great use of that DF there sewing the boats together.
Sengoku…. felt forced to me? Or maybe it had to do with the fact that I didn't care about law's backstory? I don't know.
-

Law has already used his powers to control Fujitora Meteor which is I assume is constantly under control of Fujitora(to prevent extinction of humans).
He can just tact the ship in any direction he wants without caring about whether the ship is on water or not.And I think there are tons of even more broken abilities out there. Perona, Kuma and Kanjuro are my top 3. But based on how things unfold, Kizaru and Fujitora both have immense potential to be the most broken one of them all.

Probably the fact that you didnt care about laws backstory.
Plus i wouldnt really start saying that about issho…as long as there are no citizens involved i dont think he gives a shit about the landscape. -
Is there even a single relevant character in OP that hasn't had a tragic experience?
I know, Sengoku had to drop a line about how D's have similar fates, but I wouldn't mind a little more info. With all this build up, finally finding out what the deal with Ds are, might be disappointing.
That what bothered me the most in the chapter. It made it like another teaser for the D without providing any information and, as such, made the interaction a bit useless. Also it seems to contradict a bit the flashback. At least it is the fact that Corazon learn Law is a D that triggered the all thing but Sengoku doesn't know that.

No, we know Corazon had sympathy for Law since the latter stabbed him from behind.
-
Okay, that was a very solid chapter! It focused on the emotional part I actually cared about this arc, had a really cool spread with Fujitora and even if it's another Elephant Gun, I did like Luffy conforonting Fujitora, though to be honest, I kind of want him to learn when to run away and when not to.
-
Loved the ending. Really cool ,moment for Luffy. Though, I don't think the fight will truly or fairly end. I don't think now is the time for a fight against an admiral.

He was doing that pre-time skip and he doesn't want to do that anymore, because otherwise training those two years would have been pointless.
-
I like that Bastille had teh time to fix his helmet.
-
Man I really can't tell what Fuji is thinking in the last panel.
By the way, Luffy smashed Fuji into the only piece of rubble that wasn't flying
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I like that Bastille had teh time to fix his helmet.
For the next magic trick Oda will repair Doffy's glasses.
-
And now I'm going to have feelings about a Sengoku-Rocinante Father-Son relationship for the rest of my life.
and that must be SOME smut fic Hancock is writing
-
I personally feel this was a great chapter and is setting up for something more. And with all that's going on, we're only 2-3 weeks (all depends on Oda) from getting to chapter 800. That in itself is going to be a major accomplishment. As soon as I saw the title chapter, I knew that Law was going to be at the center of the chapter. His interaction with Sengoku was definitely played up to from previous chapters, and I'm glad it came to fruition. Luffy has definitely issued a major challenge to Fujitora, whether or not this is going to extend the arc out even more, who knows. Will Law somehow switch him out? That remains to be seen. For what we've seen in regards to Mansherry's power though, I see it possible that Fujitora could get weakened by her powers, which in turn will force Luffy to leave because as was the case in Punk Hazard, he won't defeat a person when they're unable to go at their full potential. Really looking forward to the upcoming chapters. And I can only imagine what kind of letter Hancock wrote to Luffy that would make her sisters blush.

Zoro ? Vivi ? Ener ?
-
Zoro ? Vivi ? Ener ?

Dead girlfriend.

Almost kidnapped for ransom. Saw country become a war zone.
-
Destroyed homeland… though he did that himself.

In FI he tried everything before resorting to hostility so a whole island could be saved. Now he is just acting tough for no reason.
The "I won't run" was stupid when Ace did it with Akainu and it is now against Fuji.Fuji can try but he still has yet to convince me of anything.
I wonder what Law will do now. Half-assed the search for one piece or happily sail the seas?
-
Am I the only one who would actually love Luffy and crew stomping the ever loving shit out of Fuji? Forget crushing Doffy, THAT'S how you send a message that Straw Hat Luffy isn't messing around.
-

I don't think it's "I won't run a fight" and moreso "I'm tired of running. If I can't ever beat one of these guys, how can I be Pirate King?".
-

The "I won't run" was stupid when Ace did it with Akainu and it is now against Fuji.So Luffy will just keep running, despite training for 2 years exactly so that he would not have to run anymore?
I doubt Roger would run from fights. He didn't run away from Shiki despite being massively outnumbered.
-

Dead girlfriend.

Almost kidnapped for ransom. Saw country become a war zone.

Destroyed homeland… though he did that himself.
-
More like dead friend*, they weren't dating.
That isn't that tragic, compared to Law , Robin, Chopper, Usopp, Franky, Brook… -
Still. She was able to save her country.
And that kidnapping part doesn't seem to have traumatized her, really. -
Yeah, he did it himself. Maybe there's something sad about his past that pushed him to do it, we may have a flashback w/ Urouge.
-

Luffy doesn't think he can be the Pirate King if he keeps running away from obstacles.

The "I won't run" was stupid when Ace did it with Akainu and it is now against Fuji.A fair point would also be also to point that while Luffy might be able to survive what Fuji will throw at him, he still has his allies and crew who are not nearly as durable.
I'm mean… yeah, Straw Hat's confidence was bordering arrogance for a while now, but this is a new high.
-
This implies that law can make a bigger room than Fuji's gravity range witch I highly doubt.
He can just make several Rooms in a row.
Not to mention that from where Law's from, his Room could extend all the way to the sea, with the ship at the very border of Room.
-
Luffy doesn't think he can be the Pirate King if he keeps running away from obstacles.
… And why are you under the impression that him being right would be a good thing?
To begin with, doesn't it directly contradicts his conversation with Rayleigh, when he said that the Pirate King is the one who has most freedom on the seas, specificaly refusing the "It is he who conquers all" interpretation of the title?
-
- Still. She was able to save her country.
And that kidnapping part doesn't seem to have traumatized her, really.
She also saw Coza nearly lose his eye. Besides that her childhood was pretty happy until Crocodile showed up.
Also, it's been a while, but Hodi fits the criteria, from what I remember, I think. A bi part of his character is that the humans had never done anything to him and his hatred toward them was merely passed on to him from the adults.
- Still. She was able to save her country.

Not really. Since, a guy who has to run away from every big shot he faces isn't exactly what I would call a free person.
-

But actually getting to Rafteal means he's going to have to make it past the Emperors, and the WG wouldn't just let him get too close to it. He knows he's going to have to beat the best to get there.
-

I'm mean… yeah, Straw Hat's confidence was bordering arrogance for a while now, but this is a new high.
Again, this does not seem to be confidence, but principles.
And his allies could definitely fight back some rubble if Fujitora throws some of it at them. Zoro could, Robin too, Franky as well, and then there's Bartolomeo and his barriers, Cavendish/Hakuba, Chinjao and Sai, Hajrudin…
If the Straw Hats can fight back against some cannonballs pitched by Garp, then some of them + Gladiators can fight back against rubble.
