I can't wait to not be able to play it!

I hate to interrupt the bummer patrol, but that mode looks rather fun. Though the concept is very similar to Tower Control, just a different execution.
-
I can't wait to get RNG killed through walls by that super-buffed inkzooka from half the stage away :D
-
Woo got to A- again on Rainmaker with Noqanky! Was super fun.
-
Rainmaker is certainly interesting; volatile as hell and can end in less than a minute if one team has bad skills/synergy/connection/etc. Still too early for me to have a proper judgement though.
-
Yup, I'm overall very pleased with the mode. I like how much room there is to get creative in how you use the rainmaker to approach the enemy base, and it led to a lot of really fun moments of taking the rainmaker and making an epic run to directly in front of the pedestal.
-
As for matches ending quickly, I think maybe only 3 or 4 of our games tonight actually were KOs? Really frustrating actually to have every single match drag out to 5+ minutes (overtime yay). Especially because many times the counter would be below 5, but those 5 extra steps would never happen.
-
I didn't mind the dragging on, honestly, I feel like I was constantly engaged and invested. Other modes are indeed probably more time efficient, though I would say splat zones takes the cake for making me feel truly frustrated in comparison to this and tower. In these two modes I actually feel like I contribute tremendously whereas in splatzones it's just a constant mess of death and pain.
-
Tonight there were many more KO matches. Almost always in our favor. And just like that I'm at A haha.
-
Rainmaker's great in that there's a lot of freedom to pull off lots of wacky tactics since you're not confined to certain spots. My favorite is when I've got the Rainmaker, my team's winning, and we're in the last minute. Instead of going to the enemy's base trying to get a knockout and risking overtime, I just run off elsewhere like the crane area in Saltspray Rig and start a wild goose chase. It's hilarious to see them block any entrances to their base, only to realize I've no intention of paying a visit. Good luck trying to get past my teammates in thirty seconds!
Overall, there's definitely a lot more options in Rainmaker than Tower Control and Splat Zones, but it requires the most teamwork naturally. I rage so hard when I get a crappy team that just splits off doing the whole "lone wolf/turf war" crap, but when I get a great team it's beautiful. Like when they cover my back as I take the Rainmaker into parts unknown.

New Splatfest starting on 8/28 9 PM PT, theme is Autobots vs. Decepticons. I personally don't care much for Transformers, but I'll go with Decepticons because fighting for the bad guys is much more fun than fighting for the boring good guys. Also, I'd rather transform into a plane or tank (cool) than a truck or sports car (not cool).
-
Eh I'm going to be gone for this. Oh well.
-
Team purple it is.
-
At least they didn't done a My Little Pony theme.
-
Man now I wish I had this game (Huge Transformers Nerd)
-
Better be accompanied with a remix of the following:
-
Autobots cuz Optimus.
-
It doesn't. Been using a LAN adapter that Foolio gave me since before the game came out, and disconnects still happen, presumably because even if your internet is great that of others may not be quite up to par.
Granted, I'm not entirely sure if there would be MORE disconnects without it, haven't really tested that. Though 50 points sounds absurd, hopefully that doesn't happen again
Actually I haven't had a single error since I got my LAN adapter so it did solve the problem for me!
Lol look at me replying to crap ages lateRainmaker is a fucking riot! I love it to death!
-
Sounds good! especially since there's so many people that have essentially been unable to play the game since the update, that's pretty fortunate.
Good that you were able to get it solved.
-
Haven't gotten rainmaker yet, but I got good suddenly in capture the zones. Managed to climb to c+ yesterday.
-
@Purple:
Better be accompanied with a remix of the following:
Something like this would be nice:
But please, not the Power Mix.
-
Flounder Heights YES. It's pretty great having all those different places to climb in such a compact space.
Rainmaker's pretty fun too. It's nice to have a ranked mode where having useless teammates doesn't necessarily end in you losing.
-
One shall stand, one shall fall. Guess ill definitely have to participate in this one.

I kinda feel bad for the EU choices for their next splatfestSinging vs dancing
-
How on planet urf did they not go with an actual inkling mouth for the singing art?
-
I actually don't wanna complain alot here on this forum about Nintendo, like I'm doing it in the Smash Bros. thread about the NOT COOL tournament mode. But not having Ika Musume – chan in Europe forces me to complain about things that should be given (again). –> give it to me!
PS: great avatar and sig Ouroboros

We have her, maybe your shops didn't had her outfit yet

Yeah, the Squid Girl outfit was released worldwide, so you've just had shitty luck with the shops (because they suck). Just order the outfit from Spyke.
-
Eeeh? We have it? Did I missed the announcement? Well that's cool I guess.
-
I use a boy squid so I don't think that I'll ever see it
-
Actually had fun playing during the test run this weekend, best weapon for me was the roller.. will be buying this game in the future or soon

http://mynintendonews.com/2015/08/25/theres-a-splatoon-soundtrack-titled-splatune-coming-to-japan/
Splatoon soundtrack titled "Splatune" is coming to japan. The two disc CD will be published by Kadokawa on October 21st for 3,456 yen and includes a whopping 61 songs – 37 music tracks, 10 jingle tracks and 14 sound effect tracks. The cover is fully reversible and also contains a booklet which features various comments from the development staff.
-
Splatune is the perfect title for it.
-
The tracks make for decent background music but that's about it; not sure why on earth anyone would care to listen to them by themselves.
-
Perfect soundtrack for painting a room. Is it Japan-only?

Of course, there's no Nintendo/Splatoon fans outside of Japan.
-
Fans are sadly not in charge at this. I saw enough Ghibli-CD booklets untranslated and whatnot. I just can't read japanese.

/s :P
I agree with Foolio in that they're more suited to be catchy BGM than a track you really sit down and "listen" to, but at least the soundtrack as a whole is pleasant on the ears. Props to the composers.

EVIL TRIUMPHS
Finally won my first Splatfest. I noticed Team Autobots had lots of not so stellar players, and even more rollers. Probably going with the whole "Autobots, roll out!" thing.
-
Yup, evil triumphed! This is my fourth win in a row, even though I couldn't really participate in the third Splatfest, due to the game crapping out for a while. Now I have my Snails and cash flow replenished, which feels great.
DeceptiQueens/Kings rule!
-
let's see … cats lost, water slides lost, bullshit I forgot lost ... SO FINALLY, FINALLY, it feels great to have won one. And by amount of matches won too. And it was the purple color with the cool shirt we stupidly have to give away winning.
All's well that ends well.
-
Welp, EU Splatfest is drawing to a close, can't say this one was that great, lost quite a few of my matches this time, getting to DANCING QUEEN was something of a chore I admit…
Especially when the lobbies started getting filled with intentional saboteurs on both sides, something that's apparently been reported elsewhere, but I did see it with my own eyes - it kinda sucks, especially when it didn't happen in the last few fests. Excuse the Reddit link, but it really is something else.https://www.reddit.com/r/splatoon/comments/3iy3ld/in_eu_splatfest_right_now_there_are_people_afking/
-
Hooray for missing a Splatfest!
darn school and work
-
that feeling when you kill the entire enemy team within seconds of each other
This game is very good to me, some days.
-
It's a great feeling, yeah. Too bad it sometimes gets marred slightly due to your team fucking up and losing the match.
-
Feeling is even better when it leads to you singlehandedly bottlenecking their base with a sniper as they all try to leave it at the same time.
Then there's always that one person who you see going an alternative route to kill you from behind so you change to a different sniping point and snipe them while they're confused about where you went.
It can be such fun to use a splat charger when the game wants your weapon to work properly.
