That Eminem interview was so beautifully awkward.
Late Night Talk Shows

-
I've probably watched that 'Southpaw clip' for about 10 times now.
-
You win, Conan.
-
They've put some BIG money into Conan's thing at Comicon. There's a giant sign plastering the side of a buiding, signs on escalators and busses, ads for those bug eyed bobble head thigns everywhere… there's some serious ad money going on there.
Ironically, I'm at comicon and more unable to see his show than I would be if I were actually at home.
-
Jennifer Lawrence on Conan was just amazing.

I would totally love to see Conan if I were at Comic-Con. I bet it's hard to get in, though.

Even people who live in town are finding it impossible. Tickets were sold out in seconds months ago, apparently.
Just like everything else comicon related.

Wow, George R. R. Martin on segment on Conan was really funny.
-
And so the beginning of the end for Jon Stewart starts Monday. :cwy:
-
Seeing ALL his former and current correspondents with him in one room alone would be an eeeeepic picture. And I think we can expect even more from the last episode.

Unlikely given the apparent bad blood with Wyat Cynack who was talking shit a couple weeks ago.
Maybe everyone else though. Be hard to top Colbert's final ep though.
-
Well, tonight is the night, final Jon Stewart episode of The Daily Show.
Might well be my final episode of the show entirely.

Not gonna give Trevor Noah a chance to grown on you, eh Robby?

Well I'm moving to Canada in a month so won't be getting the DS on tv anyway… and their website doesn't like Canada. So its a good a stopping point as any.
Also, Arbys advertised on the penultimate DS.

Nice that they have a sense of humor.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Comedy Central is, naturally, marathoning the Daily SHow. They've already played the 9/11 episode and the "we got Bin Laden" episode. Wonder what else they'll be doing.
-
All the old corespondents showing up. No Colbert yet, I assume he's being saved for last.
-
Unfortunately I'm going to miss watching his final episode live, but I'm damn glad that I set the DVR to record before I left.
And I didn't know that you're moving to Canada, Robby.
Probably a better place to live than Texas. :ninja:
-
Do you want to build a show-man?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I'm sad that Darth Vader never became a regular correspondent.
-
Hey, Craig Kilborn! "I always knew you were going to run this show into the ground."
Oh wow, tons of political teasers.
McCain! (Who used to be the most frequent guest…. until he ran for president.)
-
I forgot that Olivia Munn had a gig on the show.
-
Wyatt Cynak. Guess he was able to get over hating the place to make a 5 second cameo.
GITMO! Aww….
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
John Oliver. "Yes, I like doing20 minute segments. What the fuck is a commercial?"
And Colbert for last, of course.
-
Colbert back in the house.
-
Here we are, Stephen
-
This is completely ad-libbed by Stephen.

We Goodfellas now.
-
We literally goodfellas now
-
They even slipped in a "go get the papers" joke.
-
Springstein huh?
Hey, Max Weinburg on drums. Does that mean Leno is coming in to take over the show?
-

Don't see why; Max is the E Street Band's drummer and has been long before he got the Tonight Show gig.
-
This was a great way to end for Jon's Daily Show. Like the cameo from Oliver and Colbert.
-
@Cyan:

Yes, I know. I was making a joke.
-
Not seen it yet, but…...
Goodbye Jon Stewart :cwy:
-
There was a crazy amount of cameo.
Saw it on demand. I liked it. Especially Colbert appearance. They sure look like great friend, his speech was funny at first and heartwarming at the end. Plus I love the little hug at the end.
Oliver was great too and i liked seing Mc Cain.
-
Three days until the Late Show with Stephen Colbert premieres.
-
Starting off like The Colbert Report. Good energy and feel so far.
-
Welp, I will never be able to look at Oreos the same way again.
-
Well, that set is pretty damn amazing.
That aside, for all that he's not playing the character, its pretty clear there was a lot of him in there. He may not be a crazy bear hating republican focused only on his own ego now… but all the rest seems to be just him and have carried over. Right down to some of the memoribilia. Which is cool. Hope he does well in the spot.
Overall that... pretty much felt like the Colbert Report, just without the old segments.
-
Kenan and Kel reunite on the Tonight show.

I think I like this kid.

I think I like this kid.
He has an infectious smile and youthful charm, I'll admit that.
But there's just no replacing Jon Stewart. Those are some legendary shoes to fill.
-

Who said I think he replaces Jon Stewart? I just said I like him. Let's see how he grows into that chair.
-

Even Jon Stewart wasn't Jon Stewart when he started the show.
Now, Jon Oliver…. HE was Jon Stewart. But then he'd had years of build up on the side before becoming host.
-
I'll check out the Daily Show this week and see what I think about the new guy, but I'm pretty content at this point that I at least have John Oliver no matter what.
-
Yeah Colbert, you win some nerd cred.
-
Colbert already had a ton of nerd cred, what're you talking about?
-
Yeah I'd say that Colbert's fanatical devotion to every detail in the Tolkien universe to the point of beating the Tolkien info person on the set of the Hobbit is a much greater degree of nerd cred than a promotion for Triforce Heroes
-
What people don't yet seem to realize is that, while yes, he was playing a character on the COlbert Report… that character was like 95% him. The main difference was an over-exaggerated ego and super-republican devotion. And the fear of bears I guess.
Otherwise, it was him, especially the geekier stuff. (He also runs Liberal in RL rather than Republican.)
-
So how's the New daily Show going? Not really watched anything from Trevor Noah yet…..
Dunno why, just can't bring ymself to watch it atm.....i miss Jon Stewart.... -
It's pretty much exactly like the old show. Its the same writers, and same format, same topics, so its pretty much exactly the same. New host… and all the corespondents are new too, most of them aren't very good yet. There was one who made a gag about having daddy issues that was supremely unfunny.
Trevor's doing okay, but it'll be a while before he can do anything serious. He is bringing in a slightly more global view of things, like when he compared Trump to African dictators with almost identical quotes. We all miss John, but... the show must go on? Trevor will probably be pretty solid in six months or a year, once the show has built itself a little more to him. No host on these things is at their peak right away. (Well, except Jon Oliver. His HBO show hit it out of the park pretty much immediately and has been consistently amazing... but they have a full week to do one episode.)
Its not at all surprising that the ratings have completely crashed after the novelty of the first week wore off though.
-
Basically I feel exactly like Robby does.
I like it, but it's because it's exactly the same show. Basically they've got the same writers and the like, and all Trevor Noah needed was ENOUGH Charisma to be able to pull off the same jokes with some level of competence.
Time will tell if he makes it his own and really grows into it.
Also, thank you for that comment about the guy and his daddy issue jokes… I was rolling my eyes that entire bit...

Jon Stewart has signed with HBO to do short-form digital daily news commentary. Not a full show, but entertainment nonetheless. Following the path John Oliver left.
