um…going abit back, Did Dragon retain his speech about free will, that's one of the chapters I've missed...
Yep, I liked the translation better than K-F's too. "The ebb and Flow"

what? No, that was meant as a question. Did they keep it, or what did they replace it with? Basically, how did they word it? ^^;; Sorry. I worded it kinda wierd. =D
Isn't Nefertari a name of a line of pharoahs? I could have sworn it was…
If it is, then there's lots of hate for changing something that would have been a clever naming device.
Well, Nefertari WAS what they were named for, as Oda said in an SBS. Nefeltari just makes no sense.
ASJ's translation of the Inherited Will speech:
These things cannot be stopped.
An inherited strength of will.
One's dreams.
The ebb and flow of the ages.
As long as people hunger for freedom…
These things will exist.
Freakin' sweet. Thank you.
And amazing avatar. xD
"Though Trace possesses the power of the Gum Gum Fruit, his attacks involve a stream of fire that can be used at a medium or extremely close range."
Most likely (and hopefully), that was just the case of typo a poor sentence structure in relation to the topic. '_'
…it certainly brings a new meaning to the phrase 'burning rubber' D:
Whoever wrote that was clearly very, very confused about the Devil Fruits.

^Here's the specific individual from whom Vivi takes her surname.
Well… not exactly....

If they name Ace Trace in the Viz manga, who's up for a revolt?
If they name Ace Trace in the Viz manga, who's up for a revolt?
I would, for all the Ace fans. c.c/
Or these:
We wouldn't have to worry about this list for the next one or two years. XD Like I said before, Viz might just keep the names in and just leave a side note to what the names mean.
If they name Ace Trace in the Viz manga, who's up for a revolt?
I doubt they will. Lately they've been sticking pretty closely to the original version… but on the other hand, Viz is, and always has been, fairly temperamental, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
(You know, it feels like One Piece in particular has been through a number of different editors in a relatively short period of time. Maybe if we're lucky, they'll still have the current one by the time they reach Alabasta?)

I agree. Then again Ace isn't around for TO long, so I think I could stomach Trace for that length of time.
Course, if 4Kids bombs by then they may wish to have nothing to do with it, i.e. not use "their names".
Chance of the jolly roger for the whitebeard pirates being changed. They did it to the symbol on Neji's head in Narucrapto.
They'll probably change Ace's tatoo to match the anime as well. It's odd because they left a manji that was a tatoo of a fishman, with a caption explaining that it wasn't a swastika. Though maybe that one being smaller and harder for people to notice was the reason for not changing it.
I don't know. THey noticed an (almost invisible) manji on a Mewtwo trading card and got it banned.
Man ace is fucked. Geez I cant beleive they censored neji.
Also I wonder if fighting for one piece is coming out in the states do to the little poll which of these games came out first in the us.
A. One piece grand battle
B. Pirates carnival
C. Usopp's revenge
D. Grand adventure
Usopp's renvenge sounds like something from water 7, which could mean FFOP
Erm. I think they were just making up a name to throw people off, warp. XD
Though an Usopp's Revenge slingshot-based FPS would amuse me.
Erm. I think they were just making up a name to throw people off, warp. XD
Yeah I know that XD. I just find it intresting where did they get the name usopp's revenge XD. They could do passage to the grandline or something
Well England only gets Grand Adventure. At November. :D But the other Grand Battles aren't that good, so I don't care.

Wow, really? But we're nowhere near Ace, let alone Skypeia yet!
Judging from what I've read so far, Viz seems to only change the name whenever an R/L issue comes up. And considering that Smoker's name was kept, I'm pretty sure that Ace is gonna be fine.
Yeah, I think Ace's name will stay.
Hmm…Has the Comic Con ended? And is Cosmic Debris back?
Yes I am back, though sadly I did not get to ask any questions this time, since a) had some confusion about the nature of which panel was which 2) the whole con was horribly overtaxed with people 3) I was pretty sick with bronchitus and a sinus infection and couldn't talk without coughing. There wasn't much talk about One Piece…I seem to recall that somebody asked about the Bobo-bo manga, and they didn't seem to think there was that much interest in the series overall.

…Shit. That doesn't sound good.

With the exception of Coco village and "Cat out of the Bag", I agree with you there.

Damn.
:/ That's too bad…
What's an R/L issue?
What's an R/L issue?
R and L are considered "interchangeable" when translating Japanese into English, as (from what I understand) there is no L in Japanese. This can lead to confusing as to the intended spelling, and why some people have translated Luffy as Ruffy. Crash Man/Clash Man from Mega Man 2 is another famous example of the R/L issue.

So unfortunate! I guess I really do have to learn Japanese to ever enjoy this manga. Oh well.
Oh AND I just got my ASJ and the One Piece chapters were great, it's been so long since I watched the anime originally I don't even remember WHY Luffy gets pissed at Zoro (no don't remind me I want it to be a surprise), but seriously Nami was sooooooo still drunk in those chapters LoL
Oh, thanks Myoga and Caracal.
In the Japanese volume 12, which chapters were there?
I wanna saaaaaaaaay 109-111
Volume 12 is chapters 100-108 I believe.
Thanks.
And which chapter is Viz on now?
Thanks.
And which chapter is Viz on now?
Haha oops I seem to have answered this question already for you a few posts back.
So in other words, they've published everything from Volume 12, but we've only just got volume 11 and have to wait 3 months for the next one, by which time they'd have probably published all the material for volume 13 in ASJ.
I wish it was more like Naruto and the rest - once all the chapters for a volume have been published, the volume is released in the following month.
That's exactly how it should be! That would make me sound, and satisfied with Viz. Is volume 12 over in the SJ Serialization?
US Monthly JUMP ended with Luffy challenging Zoro, so I think that is 112.
Wants monthly releases
Jeez…Volume 12 serialization ended awhile ago at chapter 108 o.O :/ ;_; Why won't they give us what we want?
Yeah Viz could really speed things up. Considering they have the same amount of chapters in each monthly Jump, the volumes really should be on a better schedule than they are.
But looking at the schedule up to volume 16…....man that seems really crappy. I would've wanted to be at the very start of Alabasta by October 2007, NOT punching out Wapol.
Especially considering that by October 2007, the anime will most likely be well into Skypiea.
It'd be nice if the anime and manga were somewhat closer, especially considering that the first volume came out about a year ahead of the 4kids anime premier.
Sure 4kids moved quickly and skipped some things, but the manga is still much farther behind than it should be. Usually the manga is either ahead of the anime (most cases) or its relatively close (Naruto, which is ahead but still pretty close to the anime)
Then again the manga in America is going at similiar pace to how it went in Japan when it began, so maybe Viz is trying to do that or something.
Well, I guess, but I wouldn't want to pull the same thing as Japan. I'd want to speed it up to get close with the anime. But, I don't work at Viz, so I guess I can't complain…^^;

I think ASJ might be in Arabasta at around about that time next year, but none the less I agree.
I'd want to speed it up to get close with the anime.
Agreed. Who's to say Viz may be around in say five years time when they might be doing Skypiea? Surely it would be better to catch up ASAP on the off chance they may not be around in the future.
Well, it's probably something to do with demand. Naruto's more popular in America, right?
Geez…a company should open in Britain and start translating manga...
Viz has a new poll, regarding the quality of their sales (which mangas you buy, would you get it if it was:a. released slower, b. released faster, c. costed less, etc.), up on the main site. Here's a link: http://www.viz.com/onlinepoll/
I realise One Piece isn't on there…
Yeah, that made me sad, too…So I just ignored other ones, and slipped One Piece in the other's space.
Well, it's probably something to do with demand. Naruto's more popular in America, right?
Yes, but I was always under the impression One Piece's popualrity was increasing - Luffy is starting to appear on the cover more frequently and One Piece is the only other series to get three chapters published a month, which happened before Naruto.
