Every week felt like a MSTK3 episode anyway.
Except we were the silhouettes.
Arlong Park Movie Nights
-
-
The Kong remake is three hours and twenty minutes as an extended version. That's ss long as Big Ass Spider and Eght legged Freaks combined.
Hmmm… Galaxy, how do you feel about double features?

Hmmm… Galaxy, how do you feel about double features?
Just like with Hong Kong Movie Nights, as long as they're related, it's fine.
(But it might be better to only do sequels for these movies).
-
I…liked the movie and I wouldn't mind rewatching it. I would have nominated Iron Giant but apparently it's not allowed?I have no dickish ulterior motives. 3 hours 20 minutes isn't that long compared to the double features we did for HK month.
-
How about Sharks of the Sea and Land? Jaws (40th Anniversary is June 20th) and Tremors?

@TLC:

The Jackson Kong film is one that I'm somewhat conflicted on; it's definitely better than the first remake but falls well short of the original. In some ways, it's a harbinger of the problems that would plague The Hobbit but still has a lot to recommend it. Either way, I wouldn't mind watching it again.
Galaxy's already said The Iron Giant was valid so it's just as well somebody else nominated it.
-
Here's the list so far.
- Big Ass Spider! (Huschel)
- The Host (Outerspec)
- Ghostbusters (Nami)
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (KaizokuJinbei)
- Godzilla (1954) (Nobodyman)
- King Kong (2005), Director's Cut (TLC)
- Gamera 2: Attack of the Legion (Robby)
- Godzilla: Final Wars (Cyan D. Funk)
- Pacific Rim (KageKageKing)
- The Iron Giant (Noqanky)
- Honey, I Blew Up The Kid (Valiantt)
- Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus (Kitsune Inferno)
- Clash of the Titans (1981) (Foolio)
- Jaws and Tremors (Double Feature) (Ubiq)
- Starship Troopers (Deviant_Mugen)
3 more to go.
-
The Peter Jackson King Kong is one of those rare movies that makes me think that Jack Black is actually a pretty good actor.

He plays up or down to the roles he's given.

Jack Black is a great actor. Watch Bernie, he will amaze you, he's so good in it.
-
I don't know if it counts, but Jack Black was also amazing in Kung Fu Panda.
-
I nominate Starship Troopers.
-

A real shame that movie is so overlooked. That was the first movie where I didn't see Jack Black; I just saw Bernie. He absolutely was that character.
Also, School of Rock

School of Rock was the shit, love that movie.
-
Seconded (or is it "thirded"?) on School of Rock and Bernie. Hell, seconded on Kung Fu Panda too. All great Jack Black films.
Also, damn, this list is loaded with great and more popular movies than my nomination. Damn, damn, damn! And my movie is so much fun for a monster flick! Think of movies like Cabin in the Woods and Starship Troopers. Satire people, satire! Except most people have seen those other movies but hardly anyone has seen The Host!
-
-
Yea, I'm with outerspec on this one. Even themes I don't even consider that much wind up with brutal brutal polls and a list of awesome movies I genuinely want to watch. Only exception was Hong kong, but that one was more of movies I knew nothing about but was interested in (and failed for the most part to remember to show up)
Well played peeps, well played.
-
@Mr.:
And air?
I don't know if Galaxy would want to do a triple feature but it'd be fine with me.
Probably better just to nominate it on its own though.
-
Yeah, I think I'll limit it to double, mainly because a triple feature would be a big time investment for most people
-
If there's still room for more nominations, I'd like to nominate the 1961 Mysterious Island
-
Nobody else going to take advantage of a Creature Feature Double Feature?
Mysterious Island would be a good combo with 20,000 Leagues Beneath the Sea for instance.
-
I'm considering adding on either Destroy All Monsters or vs. Destroyah onto my nomination.
-

You could always go with Godzilla vs. Megalon since he was left out of Final Wars
-

Shit, that's good.
Alright, update my nomination to Godzilla vs. Megalon/Godzilla: Final Wars double feature.
Time to illustrate how a movie can be simultaneously the best and worst.
-
I feel like nominating the 2014 Godzilla film, but since we're already have two Big G movies on the ballot I'm not sure how much support that nomination would get.
so in the interest of being silly I nominate the 2002 film 8 Legged Freaks.
-
Alright, one more nomination and this'll be filled up.
- Big Ass Spider! (Huschel)
- The Host (Outerspec)
- Ghostbusters (Nami)
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (KaizokuJinbei)
- Godzilla (1954) (Nobodyman)

Aw, yeeeeeeah. Best kaiju duo time.

Aw, yeeeeeeah. Best kaiju duo time.
There's something deeply special in how reactive all the monsters got late Showa.

@Galaxy:
Alright, one more nomination and this'll be filled up.
Has anyone else filled in the final nomination yet? if not, would it be possible to me to fill the void with two more films?
I was thinking of submitting the 1968 Destroy All Monsters and the 2014 Godzilla as a Double Feature
-
You already nominated something though. I wouldn't be cool with that.
-
Yeah, you really ought to withdraw that other one before nominating something else.
-
Yeah. I'd rather have nominations limited to 1 per person.
-

Alright, I understand. I can't have my cake and eat it too.
I'll keep my original nomination in place.

Aww shucks, thanks for having my back Purps.
-
where's the polllll
-
I was too late I wanted to nominate Tremors :(
But yay someone else did -
-
My month was picked and I get first vote?
Working out just fine.
-
I like the results already.
Oh I just remembered I should've gotten a patsy to nominate The Beast (GIANT SQUID JAWS), goddammit.
-
I guess I should campaign for my selections.
-
PUNCH PUNCH PUNCH

Too late, hot plate
-
I voted for the ones I didn't watch or the ones I don´t know. Is nice to be back to watch some giant monsters fight each other or wreak panic on those silly humans.
I did watch Clash of the Titans, but only the remake version, so yeah..I kinda want to watch this movie..But Godzilla is fine too.
Wait..why there is no Cloverfield in the poll :ninja: ?
-
-
@Purple:
Too late, hot plate
At least Cyan voted for the things he nominated.
I did watch Clash of the Titans, but only the remake version
The remake fails on every level compared to the original.
-
This cannot be a respectful giant monster movie month without Ray Harryhausen
This guy is a pioneer of the genre. Clash of the Titans and Mysterious Island are both Harryhausen movies.
Make this right people. -

The Host is not this garbage!

It's this awesome Korean film!
[hide][/hide]Come on guys, you'll really like this movie!
