Is Al-Nusra counted as black or green?
They're counted as that white grey thing amid the green. Though much of the Green by this point is deeply mixed with them. The non ISISor Kurd rebels have been making alliances up around Idlib recently.
Al-Nusra is in a strange spot right now where you hear their leaders talking about abandoning the whole Al-Qaeda allegiance thing and trying to cosey up the West, though it seems that they're on good terms with Turkey already anyway. So I'm not really sure what to think of them atm. Aside from unquestionably being better than ISIS and…yeah the regime too. The regime still holds the champion belt in terms of killing civilians (you hear that Garypotter?).
At this rate I half-expect an internal coup among the regime forces against Assad and his family. There's apparently been purges against people Assad was losing faith in in the past year so far.

Nebraska has abolished its death penalty making it the first state to do so since Maryland in 2013; Governor Pete Ricketts has threatened a veto but the majorities are veto-proof.

Looks like Nebraska's governor decided to veto anyway because logic be damned.

Damn. That must be like God saying, "You want rain!? Here's your rain!!!!!"
@Monkey:
Where are you?
Where I'm at maybe I guess it's seemed a bit dry some days, but otherwise no one's mentioned anything and it mostly seems normal.Mostly Eastern Massachusetts. We haven't had any real rain in over a month. Just a couple showers. I've noticed it because I always check weather sites and my mom won't shut up about it.

Not surprising. I have seen so many atrocities committed by cops in my newsfeeds now. Racism also never dies. Also I have a feeling that in that picture they all may be messing around but I don't know
-
Fuck.This.Shit
The guy with the antlers really doesn't seem like he was forced into this. If I had just seen this pic without reading the article I wouldn't have thought about racism at all frankly.

So the US Department of Justice and Switzerland's Justice Whatever are teaming up to launch a massive series of legal nuclear strikes on FIFA lol.

Oh God, that is so funny. It's like these Governments are run by clowns. They never failed to amuse me…..... or rather, is there a link to this or is this a joke? Just curious
-
It's not a joke, no: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-32902076
and FIFA is, in spite of the furor wrought from the football world cup, an incredibly shady organization in terms of its business practices
-
Then I was right, they are run by clowns. Just had to be careful not to make rash judgement
-
Uhhh I have no idea what you're talking about.
Some serious hard core racketeering, money laundering, bribery, etc. is potentially going on in addition to FIFA basically being already a pretty shitty organization in terms of its practices and adherence to country laws, and these massive legal nuclear strikes are potentially an incredibly good thing.
-
It was a good thing? But I took it as a bad thing. Ah, never mind; forget the whole thing. When I hear nuclear strike, I always take it as a bad thing so I just assumed legal nuclear strike a bad thing.

Nuclear strike means they're gonna get fucked up.
The US Department of Justice does't really start up with indictments unless they already know they have you, and they're using legal moves that are intended normally for cleaning up Mafia families (lol) that are by design meant to target as deep and high into an organization as possible in order to hit even the kingpins who keep their hands clean.
Switzerland meanwhile is where the head FIFA guy lives and many employees otherwise, and they've put out an order to refuse any of them departure as this is ongoing.FIFA is notoriously corrupt and that they chose a country like Qatar for the next world cup, in a literal desert….in a country built by slave labor...
I means seriously fuck them. America is getting mad points with the world right now lol.

Missed the "legal" part on my first read through.
I was rather confused/concerned for a second there XD
-
It is only by our absolute apathy toward soccer that we may save the world's game.

You're next FIFA. Prepare to get "FREEDOM(R)'ed"

Oh, now I understand, you were taking about what was basically a nuclear strike, or rather the justice system is getting fucked up. Yeah, it's going to happen. Let's see how this plays off
-
@joekido:

No Joe you're still confused.
Am I gonna have to get Cousin Skeeter involved? -
FIFA's already said that Russia and Qatar will host the next two World Cups regardless of any findings.
Once they're bought, they stay bought, damnit!

If that means we'll get to see Putin on the field then I am perfectly fine with that decision.

Am I gonna have to get Cousin Skeeter involved? No, no, i'll just read it again and understand quietly.
-
Umm this is not going to be easy. Corruption in soccer/football has been generally present from the bottom to the top leagues for decades. Due to the huge number of bureaucrats involved for making every single decision and the accepted notion of "human errors" during the in-game proceedings, it has made it easy for many to benefit from it. The last biggest scandal was on 2006 known as the Calciopoli scandal which showed how the network thrived and brutally exposed how easily the games can be fixed
To take on FIFA is another matter altogether. I don't think most of the countries would even support the investigation.
-
The fact that a sports organization has so much political power/influence is crazy to me.

Also, holy crap. I can't even imagine 113 degrees. I remember a couple of sunmers ago it was 100 in DC and I'd never been hotter in my life except for that one time I went to Vegas. I didn't record the temperature then but I remember it being hot as hell. Of course my hotel had A.C. so yeah….
I hope the people of India stay safe and this literal killer heatwave ends soon.

I can't wait to see what country Putin invades after the 2018 World Cup.

Some may cost a lot
But they're the million dollar men
And they will be bought (evil laugh). -

At a guess, he was paying off somebody he had a kid by but it might have been something else.

The small city of Ariha has fallen to the Syrian rebels, meaning virtually the whole province of Idlib is in their control now (aside from a few villages and like half an airbase).

Putin already yapping about how the FIFA arrests is America disrespecting the jurisdiction of other countries.

Makes me wonder when Putin's going to get around to going after the corruption that surrounded the Sochi games…....oh right.

Apparently, some laws are being voted on in plenary. These laws will change the Brazilian constitution, as they will focus on political reform.
So far, the one that was approved was the end of the second term of a president.
The one I am hoping for approval is the so called "Distritão" :If you vote for a candidate of a party, he can't pull other candidates of the same party.
Let´s take a example: If you want to buy a bag of apples, you check each apple to see if they are good. But what happens in Brazil is that you can't see all the apples, just the "party logo" and thinks that "if they come from them, they should be good". When you arrive home you see all the rotten apples that was inside the bag.
Things are changing.

FIFA is just the worst; the corruption involved in Qatar getting the World Cup in the first place is bad enough but allowing a country that does something like this to host is morally abhorrent.

Qatar seems to take the adage of working oneself to death just a wee bit too seriously.
