It's a quote from ROTJ, so that could explain it. Still a little weird that they wouldn't change it since it's obviously old Luke who is speaking …

Here's the link for day #2 of the stream for the STAR WARS celebration. Today, is the much hyped and anticipated reveal of STAR WARS: Battlefront (game) and possible other STAR WARS game reveals.
I found this interesting. If The Clones War would've continue it would of cover post Episode 3 stuff.
Here is the Battlefront trailer:
Hm, no singleplayer mode or battles in space. Graphics looks good. Could be cool to throw the Boba Fett players back into the Sarlacc pit, though.
someone had a bit much to drink xD

If anyone's faith in humanity is at an extreme, possibly life threatening, excess, just read the comments section of that article.
But, goddamn, does Carrie Fisher look like she's having a blast lol
Rebels season 2 sounds like it's going to be interesting.
Season 2 trailer
! Grandpas Rex and Hondo![emoji1]
! Also like that Ezra still has those scars from the season one finale.
! And in one scene you can see Sabine sporting a new look.
! And the masked inquisitor is totally Ventress!
Am I late to the party about Finn?
!
This week has been awesome.

do my eyes deceive see or…
! is that a lightsaber i see in the concept art?
! it's Luke's old one.
I know right?! how in the hell though is the question.

! It's Anakin/Luke's. The same one being handed to Leia in EVII trailer. He's probably holding on to it until they find Luke.
I like the outfit. Is this the first time we've seen him outside the Stormtrooper outfit?
You see him with this outfit in the trailer shortly. I like it, too.
! So does this new trailer confirm/mean that Rey is Han/Leia's daughter?
! So does this new trailer confirm/mean that Rey is Han/Leia's daughter?
none whatsoever.
No? Seems like a strong implication to me.
No? Seems like a strong implication to me.
Is it possible? Sure, but in no way was it confirmed.
My comment wasn't meant to be taken literally as in 100% confirmed…
! In truth I shouldn't even say strong implication, I was just trying to spark some conversation. What I mean is that the new trailer has Luke's voice from Episode VI reordered to tease the new story, and that dialog isn't just thrown in randomly; he's talking to someone, and that someone must be either his or Leia's child, right? (Because the subject was his family: 'father, I, sister… and you'). I doubt a trailer's narration would revolve around a subject who is not a main character, so Luke must be talking to Rey, Finn, or Poe. Unless Finn takes after his mother, a lot, I think we can count him out as being a Skywalker. Poe hasn't even made much of an appearance yet outside of set shots, while Rey is front and center in both trailers, so she seems to be the 'main' character.
! I'm sure there's plenty of room to argue for all of them or even none of them, and it's even possible the trailer is intentionally misleading, so who knows.
so how canon is this film because i always thought mara has anakins sword
The EU is non-canon. It's all called Legends now.

The Clone Wars had already retconned quite a bit of stuff anyway and Rebels is bringing bits and pieces of it back into canon. For the most part though, little of value was lost.
I was wondering if that comment was meant to be a joke, I didn't think anyone who ever had interest in Star Wars would miss the whole EU getting axed controversy.

i entirely missed it to be honest i just read tons of books when i was a kid my uncle was collecting them but didn't followed it much further until now woth the series
Hadn't Lucas stated years ago that as far as he was concerned, only the movies mattered and everything else was AU though? I mean I know George Lucas isn't exactly thought very highly of these days (and I feel inclined to agree, the more I read about him it seems like the original movies were good in spite of him rather than because of him), but that particular Word of God was already out there, wasn't it? Or have I just been lied to and he never said that?
Lucas said he liked aspects of the EU and occasionally borrowed things from it like the name Coruscant but, for the most part, it was different people doing their own thing and not really his Star Wars universe.
It's always been the case where the movies and adaptions of the movies overrode everything else in case of a conflict.

Going on forward, the movies and the recent tv shows are the only canon. All the extended stuff (including the Gennedy Tartovksy Clone Wars, the Ewok movies and the Christmas Special) is now considered "not canon". Everything Dark Horse published for decades is out the door. (And that's always been the case unnofically, its just all new media going out is going to ignore it as well.)
Not entirely sure where the new Marvel comics fall in line given that they're from after the company switch, but I'd imagine ultimately their now going to count.

Pretty much the Timothy Zahn trilogy with Thrawn and Mara Jade is the only real loss… and hell, even that was 25 years ago and has been mined to death since.
I imagine they'll get worked into the new universe quick enough, barring whatever Luke's situation is in the new movie outright contradicting him ever getting a love interest.
Never read a Star Wars book, but it was fun going to Star Wars wiki and just read up on what the expanded universe said everyone did after the last movie. Were some stuff that sounded cool. Other stuff was lame. Just a bunch of "What if's". "What if Luke turned evil?`" Don't really know how they'll reshape all of that with the movies coming up.
I do dig the Old Republic stuff. There isn't really much they can say or do that will contradict something from that era.
Honestly, I'm way more excited about Rebels season 2 than Episode VII. Both should be great, though.

I think that was true, but now Disney are the new masters and have said everything going forward is canon.
Here's a decent vid on what's in and out.
The movies were always best watched with all the random side characters and world details unexplored.
Didn't help that the EU basically made 90% of the background people in the movies secret rebel agents and/or two degrees of separation from Luke, Han, and Leia.
I personally felt the EU was at its best when it used the universe more as a setting to make new stories with new characters rather than relying on characters from the movie.
Is there a specific time in the comics which is the base for the movie or will it be a compilation of things after the "fall" of the Empire?
I'm trying to find the story behind Han Solo and Leia's children.
It's 30 years after Return of the Jedi.
Thanks.
New Jedi Order, right?

Reading threads, even just the last ten or so posts, is a cool idea.
Anybody read the Tarkin novel?
Intrigued about it, since Tarkin was a interesting character in the very first movie. He was a little too douchey in the few clone wars episodes, but then again intimidating in the last few rebels episodes. Always thought it was cool that he was able to Boss Vader around.

I don't have the time to read it all.
Question: Which of these books is worth buying (and doesn't require intimate knowledge of the SW universe)?
Sweet
Link is spoilery I guess

It's a new age, time to buck the trend. :)
Why not the female fans deserve a Star Wars villain that doesn't have his looks ruined at some point in time :V

That's not really an assurative yet. :ninja:

Make it so. J.J. Drop that annoying gungan down a sarlaac pit, where he can suffer 1000 years of pain.
Nah, thats too cruel, just make it quick and painless.
Don't drop it down the pit. There's a chance he could climb out.
