@kouch_lee:
Stream's version ended up being the superior one by far.
Man, Cabbage is so good this chapter.
And props to Law too. That was an incredibly loyal line there. "I've forced Luffy into this mess, if he dies, I die too with him". That's pretty cool, honestly.
Yeah, really makes me think, no matter what, this "Alliance" will definitely at least last to a first vs- Yonkou conflict.
Then….
Robin's words might prove foreshadowing/ self fulfilling prophecy.
@parklane21:
Very exciting chapter! I'm really hyped on what gear 4 is going to be. But whatever it is, it's supposed to be Luffy's trump card and will give him the necessary power to defeat Doflamingo and his bird cage. It is obvious that it's gonna eclipse both gear 2 and 3, so it's hard to imagine anything that a "gomu ningen" can actually cook up to that effect.
We see him about to bite to his wrist, so I guess his gonna blow air to his muscles or blood vessels, which is crazy but he's been blowing through his bones so it's fine I guess.
These are the things I am thinking of what gear 4 could be: (1) gear 2 + 3, which I am leaning towards on; (2) the ability to use air-pressure-based range attacks; (3) super-sonic limbs (surpassing gear 2) that gives his attacks piercing and slashing attributes.
Wouldn't really mind (2/ 3), though would find it somewhat disappointing if it was achieved by (1).
@Dohs:
Another thing I want to point out is Mingo still has tricks up his sleeve and isn't nearly as bad off as Luffy, which means. Gear 4 more than likely won't be something he can sustain for long periods of time. Something to hurt Mingo pretty bad and hopefully lessen the power gap between each other. Luffy will go back to forcing himself to go Gear 2 because his body is going to be so spent from Gear 4.
Blowing his wrist, I thought he was just getting ready for the transformation.
"Isn't nearly as bad off as Luffy"????….
How so?
@moud:
well that's what i assumed as well , he performs the "fusen" technique by breathing in a lot of air hence i assumed that gear 3rd works the same way ..
and no most likely it's not a combination between the two gears he's done that before against moriah if i recall right
@RobZilla:
I think we can state with a fair degree of certainty that Gear Fourth will not just be some Gear Second/Gear Third/Haki mashup.
You know, since we've already seen that quite a bit post-timeskip.
Unsure what you're saying we've seen post -time skip?; Gear 2nd +haki, gear 3rd + haki applied to each gear separately, or Gear 2nd + Gear 3rd( similar to the TB example that Moud mentions in his post), + haki?
If you mean the latter could you point some times out? Much thanks.
Because unlike pre - TS( after/ during Thriller Bark), I didn't notice it, so much so it seemed almost as if he had actually kept from utilizing the Gear 2nd/ Gear 3rd combined attacks.
Thought it slightly possible, was on purpose, saving to something new involving the combo later.
@Daz:
I'll try my best not to argue semantics, but this^ all hinges on that very odd moment where Luffy stated his explicit intentions to be free and go on adventures as they happe- I mean, seek out the Super Bosses of the world and beat them.
It isn't really like with Vivi, where Luffy was doing everything as a friendly favor; when Law asked "Luffy, do you want to team up in elaborate machinations to take out the geopolitical heavy hitters?" the reply was "sure, I was gonna take out the geopolitical heavy hitters anyway eventually, even though-as far and I and the readersknow- this is in no way a requirenment for finding Raftel"
Luffy didn't need to go poke Doflamingo to continue his adventure, he didn't need the alliance with Law to proceed either, and his speech here makes about as much sense as if he'd berated Crocodile for hindering his progress. Oda has done the "Luffy is in wrong place at wrong time and villain obstructs his path" angle many times; this is not one where it applies.
Gotta say, that whole thing started because the SH 's got involved in DD's business in PH. Ever since he tried to kill them on a couple occasions as a result of that. After they escaped those deadly situations he tried once again to kill them, but they had already left PH. Given his attitude, and his seeming need to kill eyewitnesses of that experience; just highly doubt even if the SH/ Heart Pirate Alliance hadn't blackmailed Doffy, he would have just left them alone. Seems they were in each other's way/ path the second they both were involved in PH.
