@DonPatch:
People have theorized that Chopper's monster point is his awakened form. A form that is a powered up version of the hybrid zoan form. I'm looking forward to learning more on the subject.
People have theorized all kinds of things.
For starters, those awakened zoans move like humans but act more like animals. It's like the animal instincts took over. Just following orders. Not talking, not showing complex emotions. We even saw that koala one eating leaves, like normal koalas do.
So if we apply the same "fruit takes over" premise to Chopper what do we get? A normal Chopper, who is an animal that acts like a human.
Even the term "awakened zoan" seems to imply that the fruit itself has somehow awoken (and taken over). Zoans are the only type that have some kind of living essence inside them, which is most likely the reason why they are the only ones so far that can be used with objects. In fact, those we've seen so far, like Lassoo and Funkfreed might be awakened zoans themselves, but not sure if that counts since there wasn't any kind of will opposing them in the gun and the sword.
I imagine, if there's ever a time to find out more about this whole thing, it will probably be during Kaido saga.

This all screams quantity over quality. God have mercy!
What? It's not like all the pirates and marines in NW are demi-gods like some of the more powerful fighters. Feral warriors with superhuman strength, speed and senses are a formidable opponent for most people, especially when they number in hundreds or thousands.
There's also a possibility that the SMILEs were intentionally faulty, made to weaken Kaido in the long run. What if he starts relying on them too much, and then they start dying/getting old/becoming feral and uncontrolable after a while?
