I'll nominate John Carpenter Month again. He has a good handful of movies great for a whole month.
Some should do an Arnold month. So many fun one liners!

I nominate Time Travelling Month so that way we could AT LEAST get one Arnold movie in there.

Speaking of which, aren't we currently in the same year as one of the Back to the Future movies?

So Wizard of Oz, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Time Bandits and Terror in Tiny Town are fair game?
Plenty of Hobbits to seen in these films.
If that's the case, I too will back Hobbit month.
for april I nominate Studio Ghilibi month

We did Ghibli year not all that long ago. Marathoned through the entire archive over about 4 months. Probably best to not repeat a chunk of that quite so soon.

Nothing I knew about.
But in that case I'll retract that nomination and nominate a Anime Movies (in general) month

Probably too obvious. It's like the first thing on anybody's list of time traveling movies.

Current List Of Nominations
The nominations in bold are my votes.
I erased the names because I'm not voting for people, you know? But I heard some really smart guy nominated option #8. Time Traveling Month does sound like a pretty cool idea if you ask me but that's just my anonymous opinion.
My nomination's gonna end up with the least votes isn't it? Just because it sounds the most pretentious ;____;
Figures. The one movie I haven't seen and really want to see, and I forgot it was on.
Oh well. My votes for the nominations are:
Actually, the poll is a normal poll this time. The tally system was there last time because I scheduled it badly.
oh my god how did I not know about this thread
also april needs to be marvel movie month to countdown to May 1st
and can there be a Tarntino month
[hide]
also…... does anyone know where to find that movie it follows online, I'd have to drive to drive 186 miles to get a theater that plays it from where I live (and I checked almost every date too... I always go to the movie theaters, I love the experience but it's not playing anywhere near me)

It's too late for April to be Marvel month at this point, but you could nominate it later for May, if you want (or Tarantino).
I dont know why I haven
t yet joined in on the fun here, I love movies. Though I doubt I will have time every Saturday, which is a shame, especially because there never seems to be much discussion going on outside of the live chat. :sad:This weekend is already looking bad, but I hope I can make it on the 28th, I love the Simpson movie.

Yeah, it's a shame that more discussion doesn't take place in here after the showing (part of the original intention). The live chat is definitely fun and active when it's going on though, so I hope you'll be able to make it for one of the movies in the future.
You're free to start some kind of discussion in this thread though! It'd be great to have that kind of stuff start happening in the thread.
I'd be happy to start a conversation about Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.
I could go on for hours about how Bruce Timm and Paul Dini made the best interpretation of Batman that I've ever seen.
Ok, I'll talk about Batman too.
I didn't like it
spoilers below
! Yes, I know I joined the movie late, but as a whole batman as a series just keeps tapping into the same well of themes. From what I understood, the main one in this one was (gasp) revenge.
Except for some reason, it had apparently nothing to do with gotham or batman himself as much as him getting cockblocked by circumstance and then figuring right after that that, fuck it, let's be batman. Batman becoming what he is because his marriage didn't go through just feels weird and makes his whole point kind of empty and self-centered … idk, I don't like it.
And then, pretty much the whole movie is rich people drama with mafia and high-profile rich people exploding each other for reasons (it really would have helped to be around at the beginning.) I don't know if it's just me, but rich people killing each other in cartoonish ways is surprisingly not that interesting.
The Joker was great and Hamill does a fantastic job. But then ... why was the joker even in this? What WAS the point of the joker? Why is it that him getting caught/killed at the end mattered in the larger picture? No idea.
Then the cool smokey-kun dude was a fairly awesome character. Except that the moment we find out it's actually the girl, not only does the character IMMEDIATELY get owned and requires help from Batman, but the girl character also goes down a pit of being incorrigibly flawed. "Because see batman, that's what revenge does to people" oooooh, ok, when batman is all avengey he's a hero, but when the girl does it she takes it to far. Here I'm probably oversimplifying, but from a non-batman fan I'm just relating how I saw things.
Also, what kind of ending is that? Literally nothing gets solved. Girl and joker disappear randomly, and fuck, we all know neither of them died, and then batman is still batmanning. So what was the point of the movie? Fuck if I know. Was it for batman to learn the risk of revenge? But then isn't that the whole point of his origin story?
! Animation and voice acting were top notch though. It's just that with batman being so overdone and people saying "this is the best batman movie" ... I don't get it. Even if I were a kid I would have been so bored with all the talking and rich people drama, and as an adult all I can wonder is "really? that makes no fucking sense". So nope, I don't get it.

Honestly, Discussion is really the only reason to do these things at all, and this one particular movie is one of my favorite animated films of all time, certainly near the top of my all time best Batman film list, so I was really looking forward to getting to watch this WITH people and see their experiences and discuss the film.
Really ridiculously and extremely down that I didn't get to truth be told. That's one film I REALLY would have liked to have seen real time impressions of from first time watchers.

Heh, I actually only watched this movie for the first time a few months ago, after buying most of the DCAU on Ebay. I dont think I would go so far to call it my favorite Batman movie (Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker is still quite a bit better imho, but I guess that one doesn
t really count), but I really enjoyed it. I must agree with Noquanky on some points:
! First of, I just wasn
t a big fan of them basically creating and inserting a random big love-interest for Bruce that almost, almost made him stop being Batman. I just couldn
t find myself caring too much about her and her revenge (man I even forgot her name. Andrea?), and I saw the twist of her being the Phantasm and not her dad coming a mile away. Now, this may all sound rather negative, but I did like the movie and especially the atmosphere of it all. However, if it werent for one thing, the movie would probably be a bit lower on my rating scale. And that one thing is Mark Hamill
s Joker, who just steals the show in every scene he is in. Noquanky, you asked why the Joker was even in this movie. Well I would say he was in it because he just made the movie a lot more awesome. Mark Hamill is just as great in the role as he is in the animated series (which Im also watching right now and which I can recommand to really anyone who has not seen it yet. My favorite Batman incarnation ever, Id say), but he is just allowed to be a little bit darker. He is actually allowed to murder and torture people, like his former Mafia boss. I especially like the little scene when he is all lighthearted and fun and the old Mafia boss grabs him by the collar, and suddenly, for just a second or so, he gets really angry and menacing only to just immediately change to a happier demeanor again. Favorite moment though: Andrea trying to kill the Joker and him just suddenly randomly grabbing a big sausage and slapping her with it. She is such a serious, melodramatic character, which makes this even funnier to me, heh. Regarding the ending scene: I loved the music and the intensity of it all, and the Joker just laughing in the face of death in full madness mode, but I thought it played out a little weird. She took him with her and it just was sorta implied that they would either perish or else she would kill him later…..both of which obviously don
t happen, since he continued to appear in the show. Btw, I think that would have made the movie a bit better in my eyes, tying it more in with the show, like having Andrea appear in an episode later on or something. Anyway, if I were to rate it on a scale from 1 to ten, I`d give it an 8.5. Without the Joker though, it would have been a 7.

Yeah, about that… Well, just keep watching.
Yeah, about that… Well, just keep watching.
Huh?
! Wait, doooooooes she reappear? :ninja:
! There is a Justice League episode that connects with Batman Beyond and shows an older Andrea.
! Andrea survives, apparently learned nothing, and was working as a hitman until Amanda Waller asked her to kill Terry's parents as part of a rather complicated scheme to recreate Batman.
! Her appearance is actually really really random.

! Ahh, that explains it. I used to watch B:TAS as a child, so I kinda know most of the episodes. Thats why I was al litte dumbfounded for a second, lol. So she appears in Justice League/BB, huh? That
s pretty cool, I guess? Is there any explanation for why she didn
t go through with killing the Joker, then?

It's one of my favorite Batman films as well; the entirety of B:TAS has got to be my favorite incarnation of the character. Sad that you weren't able to make it.

! It was Justice League Unlimited that she reappeared , I believe. And I think it was revealed in a comic based on the movie that the Joker got away from Andrea after an explosion interrupted their fight.
Yo, which Transformers film are we gonna see tonight? Like what year was it released?

Prepare for legit one of the best animated movies ever made.
Well, maybe the best one so far.
By the way I counted 14 times that Starscream could have shot Megatron from behind.
I'm buying this movie! I'm advocating for them to re-release it in theaters worldwide! I regret that I haven't seen it until today! GREAT F**KING MOVIE!!!
Can I convince someone to vote for Giant Monster month? I'll nominate Iron Giant if they do!

I don´t know if you know this, but that guy clapping is Orson Welles.
Great movie, great soundtrack, great villain (Orson <3) and tons of mindless action sequences. You see, Michael Bay ? You don´t need Megan Fox to make a epic transformers movie.
The only bad part was that kid..¬¬
Go go Hobbit Disney month!
Let's all take a moment to honor those who we lost tonight:
And unfortunately not THE KID.
Hey now, Daniel was a vital aspect of that movie. He was super useful. I mean, he saved those guys … on accident. And he hit that one guy... and he fell down a lot.
