Yes, the body made me cry, but I started seeing Buffy that season, so it was nothing compared to the pain of a hole in the world, because I started watching angel because of fred.
Angel was the shit.
Hawkeye looks kinda derpy in that "everyone lunge towards our enemies on my cue" shot.
They're doing an old Hank Pym in Ant Man, so I don't think we'll be getting Janet Van Dyne. Would they bother with a Wasp 2.0?
They already took away his most important role as creator of Ultron and gave it to Tony, giving away his second most notable role as wifebeater reduces Ant/Giant-man to… some dude. As if Hank wasn't already pretty darn forgettable.
I don't even know what to expect from Ant-man anymore.

Maybe Tony'll get that role in the new Civil War movie.

Well, they have Hope Van Dyne, the daughter of Hank and Janet, so I think she will probably become The Wasp.
I assume Marvel is going that route just to avoid the wifebeater thing all together.
Then why do they want Fantastic Four and Spider-Man? I think I remember it being brought up that it happened with Spider-Man once, and with Mr. Fantastic(not neccesarily the beating part) to a ridiculous degree. =p

In both Spiderman and Mr. Fantastic's cases, the hitting of their wives was in a moment of duress, and quickly swept under the rug as something they felt guilt over, and were written that way from the outset to be a bad guilty moment.
With Hank, the original writer didn't intend for it to be as bad as it ended up looking, so the dialogue didn't show any regret, which amplified the event and made him much nastier seeming as a result. That scene was then expanded on and repeated over the years and became a distinctive character trait and one of the only things he is remembered for, which no amount of retconning has been able to ease away, no matter how long ago or isolated it may have been. (It doesn't help that he hasn't had any memorable solo-title book runs or his own rogues gallery or anything, so he doesn't have a lot in his history to point to other than switching costumes and identities a lot.)
Similarly, Tony Stark keeps having a drinking problem, even though initially Demon in a Bottle was only meant to be a single story arc… it grew and became a part of the character in ways that are hard to reconcile. Tony got especially screwed by Civil War where he basically became a villain... but pretty much got a free pass when the movie came out two years later and Downey was SO likeable that Iron Man overnight became an A lister and writers did everything in their power to fix him.
Oh. I always thought in Ant-Man's case it was also kinda explained later on as him having some form of Bi-Polar, being under some form of duress at the moment, and it being his biggest moment of regret in his career. But yeah, it is also a case that it seems like its also something he's known for and not much else.

And then Axis came along.

Retconning that tried to ease it away, but it really didn't take. No one cares or remembers the retcon, just the original incident.
It really is a case where the character should probably just have a fantastic tragic death, that sticks, and then just pass on the legacy so it can all move on.
The same way Wolverine's wasn't.
And then Axis came along.
Year long switch at most. He'll probably be back to normal after Secret Wars.
The funny thing is, despite the Spider-man thing being a thing where he gets a pass for showing remorse immediately, it's STILL kinda like the Hank Pym thing where the art made it look worse than it really was. He wasn't supposed to PUNCH MJ. According to the writer, he was just supposed to push MJ off of him because she was trying to restrain him during a fit of crazy caused by being in the Clone Saga. Because of his Spider powers, the harmless shrug was supposed to be harder than he intended causing him to slam her into a wall.
She still would have gotten hurt, but the intent would have been "I accidentally hurt you because in my rage I didn't realize my own strength when shoving you" vs. "I hauled off and punched you".
Regardless tho, he immediately shows remorse and guilt over it which made people forgive him faster like Robby said.
The Reed Richards thing was an open palm smack across the face and was him trying to snap her out of mind control. HUGELY different context tbh.
The Hank Pym bit… Robby hit the nail on the head with that one. No need for me to elaborate.
And then Axis came along.
But he's actually an entertaining villain in his new book.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also, does anyone really "forgive" Reed Richards. He's consistently been shown as a fairly terrible husband who often neglects his family, even after the Silver Age. His one redeeming quality is that he's the only Reed Richards in the multiverse who isn't a supervillain. When he slapped Sue he at least had the excuse that she was crazy at the time.
The problem is, Reed and Peter are well known for MANY things, both cherished and loved characters.
Hank is pretty much only remembered for two things. Ultron and wifebeating.
And just being nuts in general as a distant third.
Not very positive traits to be remembered by, but even those got taken away, so Antman MCU is pretty much a blank slate lol.
Which is probably why they went with Scott Lang.
There are flashbacks with Pym as Ant-Man so maybe we'll get something in those.
woop qwrong thread sorry
How are they gonna handle Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver parentage? [h=1][/h]
How are they gonna handle Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver parentage?
By not referencing it?
Magneto isn't their dad anymore, nor are they mutants. They're now High Evolutionary experiments. Turns out, sentinels and Cerebro (and parentage tests) have been buggy for 50 years.
l wonder how they will put Wolverine into MCU since there are no mutants there.
I wouldn't worry about inserting Wolverine into MCU any time soon…if ever.
I wouldn't worry about inserting Wolverine into MCU any time soon…if ever.
Then again I'm sure the same was said for Spiderman
He was bit by a radioactive adamatium tiger
He's some dude with a healing factor and a suit with claws in it picking a fight with the Hulk
He's an actual wolverine.
Spiderman was one thing, but since Wolverine is part of the X-Men franchise, I highly doubt he's going to ever be part of the Marvel Universe. Especially since Marvel is making an Inhumans movie specifically to make up for not having mutants.
@Yuugi's:
Maybe in throwaway scene but I doubt they'll have him keep the beard throughout the entire movie.

So now the rumors are circling that Age of Ultron is doing some reshoots….with Spiderman. Anyone else think this is bull?

Seeing as they've not even cast the role just yet, i very much doubt it…..

From what others tell me, this isn't the first time they haven't gone to SDCC, right? But then again, it was different back then, before Marvel movies were a big thing.
New Daredevil trailer:
Okay, Marvel lore is failing me. What's with all the playing cards? I assume bald guy is King Pin?
That's the first thing that came to mind, although neither Bullseye nor Elektra are (as far as we know) in this season.
Oh, Bullseye. Okay, got it.
Hold on, was that the Stick? OMG, they remembered he exist.
LOL at Iron Man and Thor references.

I know the fight with Elektra & Bullseye's was brutal but damn.
Its not the first time Marvel or DC have skipped comicon. Its not that big a deal. Both have skipped at least once each in recent memory, maybe even two or three times in the last 15 years (how long I've been going.)
Especially when Disney can hold big things of their own, (where they can do Marvel and Lucasfilm announcents.) Any news they release at Comicon will be drowned out by everything else anyway… at their own shows they can make real noise. Plus this year won't have much for them to push really... Avengers 2 will already be out by then and Ant Man will be out within like a week of the con, not much to hype or build there.
Besides, all the artists and editors are still gonna be there, they just won't have a giant booth.

Yeah, they'll save their announcements for d23.

The movie is out in like a month. At most they COULD be doing a post credit scene, or a quick background nod, ala Hawkeye in the Hulk movie… but they aren't going to twonk anything at this point in the game outside of finalizing special effects.
Spidey will mostly likely appear in Cap 3. Which given its already got damn near everyone else in it already, is basically just turning into Avengers 2.5, its onyl missing Hulk and Thor at this point. (And I guess Vision,Scarlet Witch and QUicksilver).

Some webbing, that's all we ask!
They should shoot The Hulk into space. That would be hilarious but only for Mark Rufallo's reaction when he reads the script.
! But seriously I wonder how Thor and The Hulk will fit into Civil War. They have to be on opposite sides if they're even in the movie.
A lot of fans have been rooting for a Planet Hulk movie.
