Shokugeki no Soma - L'Etoile chapter 1.
That girl walking into him reminded me of that quest in Greed Island from hxh.

Shinomiya is pretty cool.
Was that an Innocent reference by any chance? -
Shinomiya is pretty cool.
Was that an Innocent reference by any chance?I believe it's Rose of Versailles.
-
Shinomiya is a very flawed character, so I think it will be well worth it to see a side-story focused on him. Other Tootsuki alumni getting cameos are a given, so this comic might be a nice side dish for the manga's main course.
Shinomiya is pretty cool.
Was that an Innocent reference by any chance? How many people have suffered corporal or capital punishment in the chapter?
If the amount is less than one, there were no Innocent references in the chapter.
Anyway, DarthAsthma got it right, this time food reaction is an obvious Rose of Versailles reference.

well ,my idea was to use the nearby station that was the cause of the sudden hiccup of customers to get the orders before they arrived at the restaurant..didn't thought about making it reservation only because it seems to me tht they are wasting a lot of customers..but if that is the only way…
-
they only waste the customers that only come by once in a while. People who`re passing there often know that they need to make a reservation and if they know in advance they have half an our left they can do that in advance. They can even tell the chef at what our he arrives and get his food imidialty
-
Yeah man. Influx of customers makes no difference if they have zero capacity to handle that huge influx. That and the whole dream the dude wanted is more committed customers, which is really the long term payoff for the restaurant
-
Not going to lie it's gotten pretty hard to know if early spoilers are true or fake(Reason why I don't really post them anymore). Maybe it's the language barrier or maybe it's the fact that Soma isn't a fantasy battle manga that makes most spoilers seem so plausable.
Like when I read a fake spoiler for One Piece you usually get that glimpse of fan wishfullfillment in the dialog or with certain events happening.
But with Soma it's all so plain I just can't detect the bullshit. :/ -
Only problem is, making it reservation only significantly raises the class of the restaurant from a casual family diner to a mid-upscale restaurant.
Casual diners have to sacrifice quality to handle customer loads, and if the owner wasn't willing to make that sacrifice, this may have been the only logical solution.
I don't know if that's what he had in mind as his ideal restaurant though, but I doubt we'll ever find out after this mini-arc. -
Most likely we will, It's not like we won't ever see the children of the cooking class, or the people of the Karage arc again.
-
Here's one pic from today's chapter.
!
! Yup. Unintentionally or not Soma has got Hisako in his pocket. -
Hopefully Hisako will have the confidence to return to Erina now.
-
It's no longer a joke.
! Megumi has just become Erina's new aide.
-
! Oh no has this just turned into wife swap?
-
! That's messed up, did Erina ditch Hisako or will she have two aides?
-
! That's messed up, did Erina ditch Hisako or will she have two aides?
Wouldn't take it seriously for now the verified spoiler I've read mentions no such thing, that said the spoiler doesn't cover everything but I would be pretty surprised if something like this has been omitted.

a not english version is out on mangabird

Is it weird that I consider really really bad translated scans as a milestone in a series overseas popularity?

Nope. Shit scans means you've made it big

@Purple:

I guess we're big now, my nose is itchy.

So we have a new scanlator now: http://www.readmanga.today/shokugeki-no-soma/109/1

Soma: Yo!
Shino:…Fuck. -
On a sidenote there was once a time when I read my very first manga when I thought hey if this was in color this would be way more awesome.
But now that we arrived at this point I'm just weirded out reading colored manga… what is wrong with me??? -
On a sidenote there was once a time when I read my very first manga when I thought hey if this was in color this would be way more awesome.
But now that we arrived at this point I'm just weirded out reading colored manga… what is wrong with me???Nothing. It's just has become an habit. I also prefer black/white chapters. But you'd have to compare too digitally coloured chapters vs black/white chapters vs hand coloured chapters. My favourites are the last ones over the other two. But I can enjoy all of them.

So, Shinomiya is already a two star chef ?
If it's not a mistranslation from Viz or just a misunderstanding from my part, I'm quite surprised because I thought that he didn't have any stars the last time we saw him. -
Soma and Shinomiya clash against each other very well, so this is going to be fun. It can only get better if Megumi gets to work with Inui.
And it is hilarious how people claiming Arato going for Soma have been proved clueless by Arato strengthening her conviction and devotion to strive for the Erinabowl.
So, Shinomiya is already a two star chef ?
If it's not a mistranslation from Viz or just a misunderstanding from my part, I'm quite surprised because I thought that he didn't have any stars the last time we saw him.I don't remember if it was ever stated how many stars exactly Shinomiya has, but he stated his goal to get three stars after his shokugeki. He also has the medal with a silly name.
-
The way he said the Pluspol medal wasn't enough and that he would aim for 3 stars made me think it was a very long term goal, not something he was "close" to achieve.
Anyway, I'll check Casanova's translation first to make sure it's not a mistake. -
I don't read the b&w version anymore, since I have subscription to Jump online.
I just wait till Sunday to read Soma. -

Okey…. it seems the fake spoiler people have stopped putting effort into them.
What the hell am I reading some shit about Soma being put on toilet cleaning duty and figuring something out based on the shit smell and making digestion improvement to the dishes..... WTH.........???And the next one after that is some fanfic stuff about Shinomiya developing a specialty with Soma....
I give up.... the cringing made my head hurt.

Soma being put on toilet cleaning duty and figuring something out based on the shit smell and making digestion improvement to the dishes
Hahaha, that's great.
Made my morning. -

Anyone know some korean? Find the raw
-
-
Ordinary wasn't talking about the link, but meant calling a korean scanlation a raw version since it's in korean and not japanese. It's kinda a pet peeve around these parts, especially since it's brought up periodically every now and then on this subforum.
-
I'm happy with the plot twist about Shinomiya. He has become a very interesting character now, and it's nice to see how Soma face the things here, witu out losing his perspective. It would be nice to see how the especiality plot line develops now, and also how the realtion with Shinomiya is involved in that.
-
The not-casanova scans english version is out.
! Wonder if Shinomiya is going to try to mold Soma into a chef that would be useful in his kitchen during the week. I remember he was thinking about trying to ask Soma and/or Megumi to join up with him at the end of the Training Camp, right? Just a thought, but I feel like Shinomiya's probably just going to be a good mentor, but I dunno if Soma will actually be closer to figuring out his specialty after his time there. Looking forward to seeing why Shinomiya expanded to Japan. Between this and his spinoff, which I believe is canon, we're getting a lot of Shinomiya lately, but I like him as a character so that's not inherently a bad thing.

This post is deleted!

Anyone else getting the vibe that maybe the "visible change" Souma makes during this round of the stagiaire is gonna be with Shinomiya's disposition… maybe bringing the staff together to be more tight knit/family-like?
-
Chapter is up on Casanova.
Man, that was some pretty sweet art at times here. And I like Shinomiya. Not much to say, all and all, just a good setup chapter.
-
! did soma mess up the orders and couldn't keep up with the pace?

I thought it was the opposite way round?

! i cant read korean, but i got the impression he did something wrong. but i think thats a good thing. in the previeus restaurant he dint realy learned anything. failure here gives him room to improve.
