So, they'll keep remaking the original Final Fantasy and making it look prettier and have super fancy cutscenes and stuff, but they won't do that for 7, the game so many people have been begging for a remake of for so long?
The earlier games are much smaller scale in terms of assets needed for script and creating the world and monsters, and what is actually needed to make it look fancy and good, basically getting it to graphic standards of 10 years ago is good enough to look great. (And making 2 or 3 minutes of cut scenes isn't that big a deal.) It's still a sprite based 1 perspective game… just more modern sprites graphicly. Easy to do.
FF7 remake, anything less than the full blown AAA treatment highest calibur graphics they can put out with dedicated teams working on it for 4 years won't suffice, apparently. That said... they should have been on that since the PS3 released and they made a tech demo for it, and when they remade a chunk of the assets for Crisis Core, Dissidia, and Advent Children anyway.
The real shame is they botched the 6 remake which wouldn't have taken that much to do properly in updated form, a solid 2-D game would have made everyone happy, whereas the tablet thing they did was blech.
