So we are one big Titan away from the cellar. What could go wrong?
Attack on Titan: Why Genocide Is Sometimes Kind of Okay

-
Probably many things.
Looks like after the Rod stuff's done marks the point where the second season will probably stop. If the second season also gets 25 episodes, that means 13 episodes for Clash of the Titans (17 chapters for 13 episodes) and 17+ chapters for 12 episodes for the second half. If it includes a couple more chapters, then the coup could be pretty easily breezed through. I'd rather want the cave stuff dragged out than the coup, anyway. Keep all the character development, condense the exposition. I don't think it could end with this ch, tho. Would feel a little incomplete.
-
What a shit chapter, come on. Dude must be taking lessons from Bleach.
-
-
It has an anti-climatic beginning and no action, that's why most people are probably going to hate it. The last chapter left off with a promise of action. I thought everything else was fine, though? Good character development for Historia, Eren's father's motives confirmed, good bits with adressing that Sasha, Jean and Connie had to kill people and the whole group is back together. Instead of a action chapter, it's a set-up and character development chapter. But, I guess as I have discovered, nobody really cares for that with Attack On Titan. I think chapter 46 was that way, too. It revealed a whole lot about Reiner as a character, but didn't really advance the plot or have action, so people hated it. There were those couple of chapters during the forest chase which developed the old Levi squad, Erwin and Armin and people dislike those too as filler. Same for the latter half of Trost which developed Eren and Armin.
Attack On The Titan
Somehow even more off than Attack On Titan

We wait since a long long time, to see whats hidden in the Basement under the Jäger-House. But now I know, the cliffhanger in this upcoming Chapter, sooner or later, when they are about to open this Door, will kill me.:ninja:
Good Chapter.
-
What happened to Kenny?
-
There is a small panel mentioning his group in the chapter.
-
Well it seems Kenny gathered his remaining squad members (if any) and retreated for now. I wonder what Isayama will do with him in the future.

Chapter 68 Spoilerpics:
!
Rough translated Summary:
! Chapter Title: The King of the Wall
The people in the district are told that this is a training exercise, so no one paid much mind to any announcements. Even though they were told of the Titan’s approach and how to use the cannons, people still wanted to return to their small businesses and carry on as usual.
! “They’re training in the northern region? For what?”
! “The capital has been like this since the military coup, so I guess that’s just a usual routine.”
! “The military has been showing off their authority, ‘After the fake king now we are the ones in charge,’ or whatever.”
! “Oh, so we’re just here for kicks?”
! “Ah…seems like the King who faked invincibility might be better than the military at this point!”
! At that moment, a mustached man in the Garrison shouted the order to commence the attack.
! “Fire!”
! The giant body of Rod’s Titan comes under heavy fire. What will happen…? Eren and co. are observing closely from their positions.
! Unfortunately the firepower was insufficient, the Titan does not slow down.
! Levi: Even if we’re on top of the wall, the firing angles cannot reach the thing’s neck. What’s going on here?
! Erwin: Loosely-gathered troops, randomly collected cannons, spontaneous organization…plus this is a local district in the north. The capabilities of the Garrison here are a far cry from those in the southern front lines. This is our best effort for now.
! But Levi is well-aware of all this.
! Levi: …well we have to take the gamble anyhow. You are just thinking of one perspective.
! At that moment, Hanji arrived with gunpowder, ropes, and nets. Seems to have followed Erwin’s orders to gather all these materials.
! Hanji: We also have “this,” one positioned at each side at the front. After one shot, the trigger will be secured, and it will wrap around objects like 3DMG would.

! [This is later on in the chapter]
! Eren has an inner monologue: Historia is strong. The weak one is me. I am helpless when other soldiers sacrifice their lives for me. Even though I accepted my Titan self, I only thought that I became all-powerful - but that was the assumption of a weakling.
! What will happen next? Will I save humanity by sealing the hole in the wall? I’m no one special…the citizens are the unfortunate ones. Why am I the trump card for humanity at all??
! Eren sees three children and becomes nostalgic. But around him the soldiers are preparing for battle. He suddenly remembers his mother and Hannes, and his expression becomes odd.
! Rod Titan leans on the wall, Levi’s squad start the battle after soaking themselves in water.
! They shoot the gunpowder barrels at Rod Titan’s two hands. They explode.
! Eren becomes Rogue Titan and stuffs Rod Titan’s mouth with explosives.
! Rod Titan’s upper body is obliterated into pieces.
! Historia starts chopping up the pieces of her father’s Titan body as they fly around.
! Historia recalls her conversation with Erwin, where he tells her he understands her position but still can’t allow her to fight.
! Erwin: Then again…with my body in this state, I can’t stop you, either.
! Historia: I’m sorry…this is my first time betraying my father. It’s a father-daughter argument that I started.
! SPEAK TO ME, FATHER!
! Suddenly, Rod’s memories begin flowing into Historia.
! An incarcerated Rod: Let’s exile all of the Titans now! Why? Why don’t you understand?
! Uri: I will be just fine, brother.
! Frieda: Let me do this, father.
! Rod: Alma…only you understand me…
! Frieda [After accepting Titan power]: I will not lose to the spirits of our ancestors.
! —
! Unknown: Did you slice up that Titan? You saved this district!
! Historia wakes up in a horse carriage. She had fallen unconscious.
! Citizens and soldiers gather around her.
! Onlookers: Are you ok? Are you injured? No military uniform…what group do you belong to?
! Historia: Was that…my own fantasy? Did I move on my own terms? I don’t know anymore…but…I know I must…
! Historia stands tall.
! “I am Historia Reiss. The true monarch of the wall.” -
! Titan action time! That sounds like a pretty solid chapter. The cliffhanger, though.

It's out on Crunchyroll.
I thought it was a good action chapter. I liked the strategy and I liked the bits with Historia and Eren and Armin encouraging Eren. I find Eren interesting because I want to know in what direction his character is eventually going to go and I want to know what lead to Historia's decision - I assume her family's efforts.
-
Did she just inherit the memories and will by killing her father ?
-
Did she just inherit the memories and will by killing her father ?
No, I assume it's Frieda's memories, which were unlocked when she touched Eren's back.
So, Isayama usually does joke pages at the end of the volume. So apparently this time it's a pretty gross rape joke.
!
The hell Isayama.
-
Oh yeah, more fragments.
What's the translation of that btw ?
-
Yeah, maybe someone with Japanese knowledge could clarify?
-
I haven't read the chapter yet, so I will leave athat for later. As for the fake preview, it has been translated:
@Anonymous:
Connie: You are…?!
"He has returned!!"
Sorry.
I'm late, huh...
Is my prey still around?"Leon, the guy with low pants, is here!!"
And it's no different from original joke.
-
Yeah, that's a pretty awful joke.
-
Nobody translated the effing chapter yet?
-
http://www.mangapanda.com/shingeki-no-kyojin/68
It's out on Mangapanda. This June issue thing at the end means that there is a chapter in May right?
-
Yeah, that's what it means.
Hey, looks like there is now the same amount of material in the manga as season 1 covered. Season 2 will probably cover a few more chapters than season 1 till the interior stuff is completely wrapped up, but that's good, would help with the pacing.
-
I think this chapter is the perfect ending for season 2 of the anime. I mean, that was a pretty kick ass ending, and it really wraps up every dangling thread into one.
-
Maybe not quite this chapter, but the presumable next (cooldown) chapter. This arc did a really nice job in developing the cast and I like it for that, but still the weakest in the series to me because geez, the pace. I have no idea what expect from the basement now that everything is out of the way. Exciting stuff.
-
Didn't know if this was posted earlier but the subbed version for the 2nd OVA is released.

I really liked that. I feel like it was a lot better than the manga. You learned more about the characters in these 2 episodes than you did in those 8 chapters. I actually liked Isabel and Farlan.
Also, the I liked how him joining was done, better, too. -

! So, here's a summary.
! Apparently Kenny and his team die - I kinda grew to like him, with the relative the lack of death in this arc (only the very minor characters) I kind of didn't expect this. Also, there's some details of Levi's past, Historia is crowned queen and Historia punches Levi (in the shoulder).
! Yeah, I can see this capping off season 2. -
! The (highly likely) end of this Chapter, puts a really good ending on the upcoming Season 2. Its a Flashback-Chapter that give not much answers, but a good feeling. It rounds down the proceedings, of the last Chapters, pretty well. Im really happy that this Arc finds an End now. I think it is Time. Time to take a look in the Basement under Erens House.

Shitty scans (mangapanda) are out: http://www.mangareader.net/shingeki-no-kyojin/69

Couldn't wait for Crunchyroll. A lot of questions answered, isn't it?
About the Reiss - they genuinely believed to do the right thing and wished for humanity to live in peace.
The whole Ackerman business is resolved - Levi didn't know, now does.
Levi's backstory is shown - he also gets a Titan serum.
Historia is queen.
Also, I liked the thematic solution to this thing. It's not about good or bad, it's about beliefs. Both sides killed people for the sake of their beliefs. -
I really have to reread the previous chaps and this again with a proper translation, later. Wasn't prepared for such epicness. Kennys talking, these awesome panels like the close shot on his eyes or the Historia one, damn.
-
Am I the only one getting really tired of the hallow-eyes creepyface drawing style?
What happened to this:
http://www.mangareader.net/shingeki-no-kyojin/9/9 -
I can't help but feel that Levi's, Uri's and Kenny's characters kinda call for that style. Levi is a straved kid, Uri controlled by Titan King and Kenny a murderer. I can't see them looking normal like the unexperienced 104th.
-
This Chapter was one of the Top 5 Chapters in the whole Manga, to me.
Some Scenes were beyond awesome. Ive rarely felt such strong feelings in a Flashback, outside of One Piece. It was, on one side, a simple storylined Flashback. But the Pictures, radiated feelings of Uri and the dyingprocess of Kenny in the end, were fantastic to me. The whole Flashback and the last minutes of Kenny, were fantastic.
What will happen to the Titanpower and what kind of Power is it? What will they do now? Will Historia be the Queen which she want to be?
Damn, cant wait. -
great chapter.it is my first new chapter,as i just recently caught up,and it feels really good. kenny's speech is really one of the better ones in the manga, and the flashback was pretty sweet.that last shot of levi saying"thanks guys" feels good as well.feels like after seeing kenny and remembering his childhood days,he is just happy with his current life, and also moving on.
-
Historia putting up her dukes and daring Levi to punch a queen was the greatest. Also it was a really good chapter overall nice way to end the arc.
-
Too bad Ymir is not around. Really would like to see her reaction to all this :D
-
So I've been thinking about rereading this series because it's been years since I caught up to the manga and stopped reading it, and I was wondering if the anime is faithful to the manga. I've heard it's pretty good so I was thinking I'd watch the anime and then just start off the manga where it left off. Are there any issues with it like glaring filler, shitty BGMs, etc?
