Something that really bafles me on pokemon that should have this type or that type is Goodra.
This evolution line learns so many water moves, needs rain to evolve to it's last evolution and yet doesn't get water as it's second type.
WHY, it doens't get water type is beyond me.
And yet we have mega Ampharos who doesn't look like a dragon at all lol.
There is this whole name thing in Japanese involving Dragon or something.

Yeah I know that but they could have give him something that made him look more dragon like instead of just adding a glorious mane.
Which in case I haven't said it is indeed a very glorious mane.

Mega Ampharos looks like whatever the hell he wants. That hair gives him the power.
By the way, is there any way i can pass the Eon Ticket by Wifi? I already have it and if i can share it via wifi i can give it to you guys.

Seeing your sig made me think of what's coming to Ash's party over at XY-v-;;. Also, did anyone make a parody of MegaAmphros going super saiyan 3 yet?

Just finished the 7th gym and I'm way, waaaay overleveled. Looking at the levels of the E4 and Champion… I could beat them right now, lol.
Well, of to get Groudon I guess.

I was able to stay on top of things with minimal grinding despite turning the Exp. Share off the instant I got it. I can imagine that if one were to actually use that thing (which I'm guessing you are), yes, one would indeed end up hilariously overleveled.
I was looking at the X/Y level up….so Milotic learned Twister instead of Water Pulse. At least she's great at Special Attack, but I wanted a water move for that stab. Part of me wants to rematch trainers until she's in the mid 20s like the rest of the team, and part of me wants to continue the adventure....

I think they just flipped the order, rather than eliminating the move, so you wont have that long to wait.
You'll inevitably toss Surf on there anyway, so it doesn't matter much in the long run.
So yeah Mr. Stone confirms that Devon was an absolute monster once upon a time.
You guys weren't kidding about Sea Mauville, holy crap.
Edit: forgot to put this here.

Mega Beedrill is a Monster. It did like 65% to my mega slowbro with full HP/Def Iv's one time.

Surf is the best HM afterall.

The TM listing has changed a lot in 10 years. Water Pulse was…what, TM03 in Gen III? But now it's a move tutor move? Thanks.
About to waste several hours of my time finding a Vulpix with Drought. Wish me luck.

Nope, a great bunch of the 5ºgen bugs says otherwise.

The only viable one that is NOT a Steel subtype is Accelgor…
The only viable one that is NOT a Steel subtype is Accelgor…
I would say Scolipede personally.
The only viable one that is NOT a Steel subtype is Accelgor…
They are all still insanely cool, though. Galvantula, Leavanny, Volcarona, Scolipede <3
I had to force myself to only use two bugs in my team in White, otherwise Serperior would be the only non-bug in there. Man, I love 5th gen <3
Galvantula, Volcarona and Scolipede are all very viable. The first being the best user of Sticky Web, the second being… great all around and the third being arguably the best baton passer in the game. =P
All completely viable and with their own niche.
Its a combination of the games getting blatantly easier (doctors in the middle of every cave/bad guy area… less mons for gym leaders, broken exp share, etc.)because they want players of all ages to be able to beat the game... and you just naturally learning to balance out your teams strengths and weaknesses better. First time or two through the games you might use just the things you like and not care about overlap and not pay any real attention to stats or abilities, but later runs you find yourself naturally balancing along the way and going "well, I already have a water type, so I don't really need this mon, I can put in something else instead..." and maybe catching two or three of the same critter to get a better ability from it.
But mostly its the experience share affecting your ENTIRE TEAM that breaks it. Yes, it alleviates the tedium of a grind, but it also... takes out the choice and challenge and automatically supplies you with an entire high level party almost by accident. But its so useful its hard to justify not using it... it doesn't even have the old drawback of splitting experience every way... EVERYTHING gets massive exp. Its dumb.
Also, there's simply 700 monsters to choose from now, so its incredibly easy to fill in any niche you might need. If there's a dual type you need, it probably exists by now.
They REALLY need to bring back the "hard" mode that BW2 had... but let it be selectable from the start of the game. And not after you've already beaten it on another cartridge. (and having easy mode accessed that way was just really dumb.)
About ways to modulate dificulty integrated to the gameplay:
Yeah, pokemon has ways to go, but… you can always turn off the exp share, ignore the medics, and go with favorites untill it fails.

The only viable one that is NOT a Steel subtype is Accelgor…
Bug/Rock had their moments as well, out of my team, shuckle took out more stuff at the tournament than anything else. And that high accuracy hurricane/sleep powder choice scarfed vivillon was very fun.
Volcarona and Galvantula are amazing, and while scolipede is not my style it has it's moments.
Scizor, Volcarona, Accelgor (kinda ehh but it's there), Mega Beedrill, Venomoth (Quiver Passing),Mega Heracross, Choice Band Heracross, Yanmega (specs boost), Scolipede (many sets), Trick Room or Vest Escavalier, Hustle Orb Durant, Genesect, Compound Eyes Vivillon…
Yeah, don't criticize Bugs guys.
I completely forgot about Galvantula - and it's actually one of my more adored Pokemon. I used it in a play-through of Dark Rising (rom hack), and although it got pretty difficult, didn't replace it. Volcarona is pretty sweet, true. Scolipede is more of a poison type in my eyes than bug xD It seems though that it's all about great dual typings. Whereas a lot of types have great single-type Pokemon as well.
So, in the end, Leavanny and Crustle are the only bugs from Gen 5 who aren't viable. Leavanny's design makes for its typing, though… it is so lovable!
rejoicing in memories
I can't tell how happy I was when I saw Black/White had tons of bugs and. not. a. single. bug/flying. Yeah, I am looking at you, Gen 4 ¬¬
The only viable one that is NOT a Steel subtype is Accelgor…
And thety aren't bug because they have steel typing?
Anyway Scolipede is probably the best competitive 5gen bug and its not steel type.
Volcarona was pretty good in 5gen same with Galvantula.
I have one. You want it?
Thanks for the offer, but I actually caught one on my own. The hard part was just getting the DexNav to pick one up: I saw more Chimecho's in that one hour than I have in my whole time playing Pokemon.
Hey someone mentioned feebas earlier: I have a few with dragon pulse and etc on them if you want one
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Heracross is the only bug you need guys
Does anyone have a female Buneary in a love ball? I'm willing to make a pretty significant trade for it. I'm not worried about the nature or IVs or egg moves or whatever (I can clean all of that up myself by breeding), the only stipulation is that it has to be female and in a love ball. >_>
I have a bunch of legendaries I could trade as well as a few 5 IV mons.
Edit: Nevermind. Found a trade partner. ^^
I started a new game and tried a Nuzlocke. Ended up with a complete wipe at Mt Chimney D:
There is an incredibly amount of character development for Team Aqua/Magma, it's sort of weird.
Hey someone mentioned feebas earlier: I have a few with dragon pulse and etc on them if you want one
Whoa. Too bad I already evolved mine. XD
Yeah, pokemon has ways to go, but… you can always turn off the exp share, ignore the medics, and go with favorites untill it fails.
Not really, because the game is balanced towards those things once they're implemented. You're now SUPPOSED to be refreshed half way through a dungeon, and you're SUPPOSED to be at high levels when you face your enemies.
Previous experience share worked because you had to pick and choose not only what behind the times mon got the experience, but also the fact that your lead mon lost out on it. (and that at higher levels the low ammounts of exp were negligable) Now… it just splits it six ways with basically no negatives whatsoever. There's no picking, choosing or strategy to it... and turning it off just means hours of extra grinding, and nothing else.
(A happy medium might be your teammates only getting 1/4 experience maybe instead of full half? They'd still get bonus levels, but your entire party wouldn't be 10 levels ahead at all times.)
Ignoring the medics doesn't ignore the amount of random encounters in a cave. And using just favorites gets you blasted by typings.
Dark Souls is balanced in that you can literally run past every single enemy in the game aside from bosses (and many of those are skippable) and fight them in any way you want, (up close or far away... and DS2 even lets you perma-kill enemies eventually) and at nearly any level with any equipment you want if you're willing for an encounter to go for 20 minutes... and that varies the challenge. Pokes... you just can't do that. If you run past/repel every enemy (and you can't run from everything first turn) you're horribly under leveled and just get destroyed.
If it was possible to beat pokemon at level 1 and do a 4 hour speed run, you'd have a point. But you can't do that, you HAVE to be comprable levels to the elite 4 at the end, or else their speed and stats will just destroy you utterly. (Unless you're using a crazy cheat like sturdy/endeavor) and there really isn't anything you can do to make it more challenging like it used to be, aside from imposing extremely harsh Nuzlocke style rules... and ultimately all THAT does is
a)get you pissed off when a favorite dies, and
b) lead to over-grinding before every encounter to make sure you aren't dying, and buying/using extra heal items. That doesn't change the challenge or skill at all (aside maybe from switching out timing), it ONLY adds to the time you spend grinding so you can ensure you overpower the gym leaders, and nothing else. (To say nothing of lucky critical hits ruining you unfairly.)
Gyms need to go back to having full sets of citters, rivals surprise jumping you, money flow being bad enough you simply can't afford to buy too many heals. We're never again going to see a new game where victory road requires all the HMs and takes 3 hours to get through a puzzle filled maze, or have Mewtwo hidden away.
Maybe I'm alone but I'm really glad that obnoxious bullshit like rivals jumping you in the middle of nowhere after your pokemon got the shit beat out of them by the unending gauntlet of trainers is gone. Also that Victory road and gym leaders are no longer utter slogs.
@Cyan:

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the bullshit is gone. But they also took away the challenge without putting anything else in its place.
When literally the only thing you can do to make the game difficult is to put in super harsh rules far above and beyond what the game ever expected, or rechallenge post game champions (where the only challenge is still mostly level difference) I dunno… it's missing something.
And there's just not much way to avoid overleveling without drastically under-leveling. And in a game that encourages you to explore and capture lots of things, well...
I turned on and off my EXP Share. Only turned it on when I added a new Pokemon to the team or if I wanted to catch up in levels. I skipped at least half the trainers in the game. Turned the game on Set Mode against Gym Leaders and the Elite Four. I was level 50 on 6 Pokemon at the time of the Elite Four and had a fun time through the game.
Pokemon was never really challenging.
If the game was ever challenging it was because you were inexperienced and ignorant. When a player first enters Pokemon there is just so much information and stuff you have to learn. Many different types. The Types 150~700+ Pokemon are. The many different moves and their types. Potential moves each Pokemon may have. Making a team so that 5/6 of you Pokemon aren't weak to a single type (terrible mistake I made in X/Y). Etc.
After 1 or 2 Games or Generations you practically know what you need to know and every game afterwards simply becomes a cakewalk only catching you off guard because of something new that you were inexperienced at dealing with or a rare difficulty spike (i.e. Cynthia).
I agree Gyms need to go back to more than 3 Pokemon Max that did in X/Y and do like they did in generations prior like ORAS.
However the Healers and money flow of the game are fine. Having to constantly Escape Rope or Backtrack isn't challenging. Its annoyingly tedious. If anything all the lack of them did is encourage overleveling so you could slap on Repels to avoid random encounters, blitz through trainers, and blitz through the Elite Four because you didn't have enough money to make it through them a with "normal" leveled team.
Victory Roads that require all HMs? No way in hell. HMs that aren't named Surf are the devil. Nevermind the puzzles are pretty much in the same league as Zelda. You've done them once, you've practically done them a million times.
I passed Pokemón red the first time using only Bulbasaur. It only fainted once against Gary and i arrived at the Elite Four lvl 88. My next mon was a level 40 tentacruel i found in Cinnabar. Pokemón was never hard but it's still fun. That's the point.
