@kouch_lee:
Still recommended, though? I mean, how does it compare to Last Airbender in terms of comedy, fighting, writing, etc. . .? I get that apparently it was created as a 12 episode short series but then switched to a 4 season series, so yeah, that must've hurt the narrative in some way, but aside from that, the stuff we get is LA level?
It has all those elements still…. but it absolutely suffers from Nick messing around with the episode orders. First season is okay but is a bit rushed, and ends in a way they probably wouldn't have if they'd known they were getting another season... second season is pretty weak but has a few highlights to it... but the third was really strong and made up for it, and the fourth pretty great so far and seems like its going to be a pretty strong bit of closure.
The characters in general aren't as good as TLA cast, though there are a few standouts. (But almost no one likes Mako, and he's one of the leads.) The animation and music and action sequences are top notch, better than TLA in some respects. The world building is pretty neat, and the show in general tries to be a little older and more mature than TLA... but they completely drop the ball when it comes to romance subplots as they tried to appeal to the shippers and just... failed spectacularly.
All in all, TLA is a 10... Korra is probably overall an 8. Still better than most of the animated fare out there, but... doesn't quite hit the highs of the old series, and definitely has lower lows. Though season 2 was offputting enough that if season 3 hadn't been great the whole thing would have felt like a waste. So just beware when you get to that point... but you won't be sitting on it for a year like we did so maybe it won't be so bad.
All in all, its definitely worth checking out. just dont expect quite the same show.
