Yup. It's all about the internet.
Gravity Falls

-
Wow. Didn't catch this but the final post credits message was a reference to the Sailor Moon theme song.
! Winning hearts by daylight
Possessing robots by moonlight
Her emotional baggage is a real fright
She has the one name Giffany
! >! -
I really like Melody. I think she's really cute. Her day time outfit reminds me a little too much of my ex, watch and all. But overall, I thought she as a great character for Soos. But, it looks like she won't be appearing much living out of state.
-
Interesting fact about Soos's Grandfather - anyone else think maybe his Grandmother was referring to something else as in not the obvious?
-
Hentai jokes in my Gravity Falls?
You know how to please, Mr. Hirsch.

Was there really any explicit ones? It was just a dating sim.
! That said I swear there was a woman screaming "Oh my God" when those robot animals came alive!

@Light:

! Giffany's father was an octopus

I wonder if it's coincidence that the animatronic stuff happened not long after Five Nights at Freddy's popularity.
Good episode, although I didn't find the last two episodes to be the best in term of funniness. Yeah, there were still quite some laughs, but not that many like in some other episodes. Though especially the end credit scene was hilarious this time.
And I also wonder if the Grandpa line was just a case of pretty dark humor or is actually foreshadowing of things to come.
-
-
It's been off-putting how excessive gore, villains wanting to kill, and the constant use of words like dead, death, etc is used in this season. Despite that, these past 5 episodes have been more entertaining than the first season and I'll be pleasantly surprised if the rest of the season keeps this episode quality
-
Theory after watching the third episode. The goat is evil!
-
Thought the episode was sort of weak outside the Soos and Melody moments. Then agian, I had quite a bit of expectations for anything but a "crazed lovestruck AI" plot that has been done so thousands times already. I felt like it could have been a tad bit more disturbing with the jokes too.
Oh well. Atleast there'd be an eventual update from Paul Robertson with the sprite rips from this episode.
-
I love the detail that Giffany wears a ribbon cable.
-
Not a fan of Gideon. Mostly because I don't understand what he says with his high pitched voice. But this show is so much fun.
-
@ RamistaR- How far are you into the shows?
The episode itself! I'm slightly disappointed that the animatronics never try to put Dipper and co in an animatronic suit.
Personally, I never like Fight Fighters so this episode was pretty meh barring the Stan's plotline.
The villain in this episode was kinda flat. Giffany is the psychotic, controlling ex-girlfriend stereotype. Nothing new here.
The fact that Soos' grandma doesn't think that her husband is in heaven got me laughing unintentionally. -
Fun Fact:
The animatronics have nothing to do with Five Nights at Freddy's considering the episode was being written as the Season 1 finale aired. Which is a year ago, and even if that wasn't the case, the latest the episode could've start production would've been at least 6 months, the average production time for an animated series episode.
The direct inspirations for both this episode and probably Five Nights at Freddy's is this Pizza franchise;
Though Five Nights is more inspired by Chuck-e-Cheese;
Its amazing that universe lines up for Gravity Falls to feature haunted animatronics around the same time of the Five Nights at Freddy's craze.
Gravity Falls this season has been owning it, not to say that last season wasn't but my hype for each episode increases… maybe the wonky schedule killed it for me last time. But each episode this season has had me excited, excluding Golf War; for some reason I'm wasn't hooked in with that one. But this episode might be my favorite of the season... I might be a sucker for big guy love plots. Being a big guy, and recently dumped it feels like a win for me. Go Soos.
I really like Melody, especially her design its the perfect cute chubby girl. Kinda bummed we might never see her again.
I thought this was a much more successful sequel to Fighting Fighters. Its kind of the got the same gimmicks, though there's differences. I kind of like the trend of the pixel-people in this series are very single-minded, almost as if they are programmed to do one thing. I also thought this episode was more accessible than Fighting Fighters, a little less injokes and more character building.
Grunkle Stan's sub plot was pretty funny, especially the end credits.
Next episode is called Little Gift Shop of Horrors. It airs October 2nd. Knowing Gravity Falls this will be this season's Halloween episode and we'll probably see a break from episodes. I want to be wrong, but we haven't had any info on the next set of episodes titles, so it might be the case.

^
As you said, it was kinda impossible for this episode to be inspired by Five Night at Freddy.
But it is way too much of a coincidence that this episode air 1 month after the game got popular.
Somebody need to do a crossover of gravity falls and five night at freddy!–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Yohohoho! Unfortunately I don't have the time to marathon it. I will watch episode 8 next.
Episode 8 is easily one of my favourite.
I think you will enjoy that episode a lot.Early Concept arts of Giffany from http://gravi-teamfalls.tumblr.com/ They are huge!
!
-
I curious if this means Bill Cipher is part of the first draft or is related to the game.

Found this on deviantart today.

So here's the title, description, and tentative release date for the episode. Say tentative because I was burned with episode 5 before, but we'll see.
! Episode 6: Little Gift Shop of Horrors
! In three separate mysterious tales, Stan is cursed by a witch, Waddles accidentally eats a bowl of brain-enhancing jelly and builds a machine that allows him to speak for the first time, and Mabel faces her fear of Claymation.
! Airing Saturday, October 4 on Disney for Monstober month at 9 PM.
Will air on Disney XD October 6th.
! That's also supposedly the only Gravity Falls episode that's planning on airing on Disney that month, but could be wrong on this too.
! Neil deGrasse Tyson voices Waddles.
! So it seems we're getting Gravity Falls Treehouse of Horror episode. Wonder if it'll be like Bottomless Pit and the characters tell each other the stories or if it's just going to be straight up fictional and "non-canon" so to speak. -
Yohohoho! Episode 18 has to be my favorite so far. Dinosaurs!
-
Yohohoho! Episode 18 has to be my favorite so far. Dinosaurs!
You're watching too fast! You're gonna run of episodes to watch.
Tentative title of episode 7. I hope it's real because it finally address something I have been looking forward to.
! 2x07 “Society of the Blind Eye” - Oct 27, 2014, Monday (8:30 PM - 9:00 PM ET/PT) on DISNEY XD
The kids, along with Old Man McGucket’s help, discover there is a secret society in Gravity Falls. My wish came true.

I was about to call foul on that, but my source is now listing the episode as well, so I think it's safe to say the title is legit. Not sure about the description. Woo, no month-long hiatus!
EDIT: Description is legit too. Hype GET.
-
With a title and description like that, I'm hoping episode 7 actually reveals stuff instead of prolonging the tease.
@Ramistar Glad you're enjoying the show.
My wish came true.

That was pretty funny.
I'll say this, Disney and Disney XD seem to be putting effort into advertising. Here's another promo for the episode.
Last, a map of Gravity Falls from a Disney book coming out in a week or two, though I gotta wonder where the season 2 stuff like the big mall, golf course, or taco shop is located. I have no idea the extent of involvement Hirsch or the team have on this.

Missed this detail in episode 5. Look who's following Dipper…
!
From the short clips, I think I might actually like episode 6. Remind me of treehouse horror episode from The Simpsons. I didn't think like Bottomless pit so wasn't too interested in episode 6 initially.
Regarding episode 7,! From the game 'Rumble's Revenge", there was this cryptogram that said "there is a secret society in gravity falls".
Also, in the game "Mystery Shack Mystery", The Royal Order of the Holy Mackerel (supposedly a secret society) was mentioned.
I wonder if this is the same secret society in episode 7… or a completely different one...The Blind eye? -
I need info. How many episodes in season 2 so far ? Where can I watch them on internet ? Which day of the week ?
And what's the deal with the lumberjack in the opening ?
-
Ah so their going for a Treehouse of Horror route next time. I can dig it.
-

We are currently 5 episode into season 2. Episode 6 airs on Oct 4. Episode 7 is on Oct 27 if the source is reliable.
Generally, there is two episode per month. Assuming they keep this schedule. I don't really have a particular site where I watch the episode from. I generally look up "Watch gravity falls season 2 episode_".
What lumberjack? -

What lumberjack? The Paul Bunyan statue or Wendy's Dad, that's the two options haha.

What lumberjack?Yep I was referring to the statue. I'm pretty sure it never appeared outside of the opening. Anyway thank you for all your answers Sunny. And good catch with the two agents.
-
Thanks tumblr, not me. I usually don't notice random easter eggs scatter in the episodes.
Heck, I don't think I remember seeing the lumberjack statue at all.lol -
It's a Paul Bunyan statue. There are plenty of those in the Pacific Northwest.
Missed this detail in episode 5. Look who's following Dipper…
Stan certainly is.

Episode is out on animeflavor
http://animeflavor.com/gravity-falls-season-2-episode-6-little-gift-shop-of-horrorsThat ending!
! So this episode is noncanon, if the keyword for the Vigenere cipher is any indication.
! Funny enough, this seemed like the least scary episode of season 2 to date…until the end, though it wasn't that bad. Claymation Twinkle Heart is terrifying to me. Gumby Soos was fairly scary and hilarious, and so was the pre-credits ending.
! The stories got better as the episode progressed personally. A lot of jokes about claymation, animation costs, and animators in the last story.
! Also, I swear, I'm pretty sure Mabel says DAMMIT in that last story too.–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also just learned Alex Hirsch interned for a summer for Laika (the studio of Coraline, Paranorman, and the Boxtrolls fame). And the studio's located in Oregon...that's pretty neat.
-
Wasn't expecting a Manos reference, that's for sure.
-
Aside from the third one, the little stories could have had their own episode. It felt too short. But still really funny.
-
Having mixed feeling regarding this episode.
! I guess my main complain regarding this episode is that each stories seem to start out with potential but the potential isn't fully utilised. Everything felt rushed and condensed. It really doesn't feel like a gravity falls episode at all.
The waddles one was probably the weakest story for me.
On the positive side, I did enjoy some of the jokes. Like the one Stan made about horror movies. The animators and claymation jokes were pretty funny too.
Personally, one of the creepiest thing about this episode was Stan drugging the nameless victim and putting him as a display. That's just disturbing.
I didn't even find the hands or the claymation thing as creepy as that.
At least, this episode is non-canon.
Agent Powers also made a cameo in this episode again. Though his suit colour looks a bit different.
-
Probably one of my least favorite episodes of this season.
By the way, how does spoilers work for this thread?
! Anyhow, like Sunny mentioned it felt rushed. It was like they were trying their best to be creepy and spooky, but it just ended up forced.
I hope they don't force the creepyness for the rest of the season, its been pretty hit-and-miss so far.
Upside is some of the jokes and the fact that Waddles was adorable. The animation joke was probably my favorite moment in the episode. -
Its kind of nice to know everyone is kind of feeling the same. After such a strong season, it felt weird to have a much weaker episode. Granted there's a lot I like, it lost steam for me.
-
I didn't feel these shorts try to be as "creepy" as they wanted to, as I think the writing sort of forced elements of a kid's show without being very subtle about it. The montage in the hands short being one of the few.
-
I wasn't all that impressed by it either but at least part of that was because it followed Night of the Living Pharmacists, which was an infinitely better Halloween special to me.
-
! Agent Powers also made a cameo in this episode again. Though his suit colour looks a bit different.
http://i815.photobucket.com/albums/zz71/akia999/Agentpower.jpgNot the only cameo.
!
-
Stan must know that the Agents are eyeing them, because that's the only expiation for him to make up a story and include the detail of the agent's following him.
-
I loved it. It didn't feel rushed to me. It was obviously heavily inspired by the Tree House of Horror episodes of the Simpson's and it moved at about the same pace as those. Same for the creepiness. I didn't see them trying to force anything. In fact, this was by far the least creepy episode this season. Each vignette was fun with a dash of creepiness added in, just like the THoH.
It's one of my favorites of the season.
-
Hey look at that
!
-
-
I can't fault it too much since it was a pet project, but the animation wasn't nearly as expressive enough to match the voice acting, which is something to which Gravity Falls' art style really lends itself heavily.
-
I think that's partial to why it fits so well. It hits a lot of tropes to Anime. Sad thing is that there's a big debate about how Gravity Falls should've been this style to begin with in the comments. Which is silly. People need to get over that Japanese cartoons aren't worst or better than Western cartoons. Its all style, flavor, and preference.
-
Oh Arlong Park
You made me aware of the existence of The Spectacular Spider Man
You made me curious enough to check out Adventure Time
You made me fall in love with Jojo, just so I could be in on the jokes
And now, you've given me Gravity Falls. Thank you. This show is amazeballs.
