Hao was just bleh. Despite being stronger than literally all the other characters put together, he just got slapped by mommy and then everything's all good. On that note, the protagonists were also useless in the long run because nothing they did threatened Hao in any way. SK just had a really terrible ending in general, one of the worst I'd say.

The final battle is SK is pretty much this:

Also, he made a comic with Stan Lee that absolutely no one gives a shit about.

That's not entirely true. Well before the final battle, Yoh affirmed that they had absolutely no chance beating Hao. That's why they gave up and chose a new plan instead: If they cannot beat Hao through strength, they would have to give him a change of heart – and that's exactly what they did. Let's face it, Hao was the strongest shaman ever and had hated humanity for 1000 years because of what happened to his mother. Therefore, the only way to beat Hao was to appeal to the human heart he had before his mother died which was then done by finding her spirit withing the great spirit. The fact that Ohachiyo, the demon that raised Hao after his mother died and was the source of his ability to read human hearts, was the one who guided the protagonists to Hao's mother inevitably brought everything full circle. The rest of it was some slap-stick comedy. It was rushed no doubt, but he didn't really have much room for his chapters when you consider the rest of the KZB edition. I'm just glad Jump gave him another shot for a real ending instead of that orange shit. Yeah, it wasn't the best ending, but in terms of the canon, it was a sound ending; not the ending we wanted, but a good enough one.
Hao was always a monster who no one could beat through force. They tried that twice already and he would just reincarnate whenever the Shaman Fight was approaching. I wouldn't compare him to Madara or Kaguya since Madara wasn't as overpowered as Hao and Kaguya was a superficial character that had no layers at all. If anything, I would say they're more like Kuja and Necron as the final bosses in Final Fantasy 9; like Madara, Kuja was a disgruntled man who manipulated nations into wars, was incredibly strong, and generally wanted to destroy everything; like Kaguya, Necron showed up out of nowhere and had no purpose at all as the final boss since his entire existence was a 'wtf? where'd this guy come from? why is here here? 0 foreshadowing. w/e i'll kill him so I can see the ending cinematics.'
Shaman King Flowers hasn't been cancelled. Jump will push it to another magazine, or the author has the option to go online and make it a webtoon. He also has a couple other serieses he's working on, so it could really work out for him.

Ironically enough, Shaman King: Flowers is getting cut short as well. So if there is a part 3/sequel, lets hope that it meets the same fate (unlikely as that is).
You gotta be kidding me. I got to chapter 6, then decided to wait it out a little.
I enjoyed Shaman King's last arc a lot more than Naruto's. Probably because of teamwork and character chemistry on the side of protagonists. And Hao was a lot more likeable than Sasuke.
But ffs, cutting it again…

Both of them pass out. When they woke up, a full day already passed.
Sasuke accept his loss and wishes to die like that. Sasuke says that Sakura and him would just have to transplant Sasuke eyes on Kakashi after his death to cancel Mugen Tsukuyomi.
Naruto calls Bullshit on Sasuke dying.

Sasuke : ( Starts crying ) Shut … up, Usuratonkachi !
