Eh, you about broke even with the standard used prices… but not with Dog's Life. I've never even heard of that game and seems the cheapest you can get it online is about $9, but I can't imagine it's very good.
Hmm, well there's no stores (aside from your standard second hand or enthusiast stores) in my area of the State that sells PS2 games anymore. Do other gamestops nationwide carry 6th generation games?
Either way, I'm planning on beating Dog's Life, then keeping it safe, then selling it when it becomes worth like $40 bucks or more (hopefully lol).
Tempted to make a thread for The SIms 4 CaS Demo creations.
Cause nobody gives a shit about the game itself especially with rumours that Sims 1 will have more content than it does.
Really good Amazon sale on PC (looks like a few XBLA games are in there too). Now that I have a gaming PC I wish I wasn't broke, interested in quite a few of these.

Pre TGS Sony stream on the 09/01 let's cross fingers for something good.
Countdown:
http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20140901T15&p0=248
There better be some awesome announcement, cause what would otherwise be the point of the livestream.
Watch Dogs gameplay, UI, wanted system, and Aiden model imported into GTAIV.
So, I think I finally found the perfect settings for The Witcher 2. Runs on average 50-60 and mainly only dips down into the 30s during conversation. One thing I've learned is… I actually hate how depth of field and any blurring effect looks. The cutscenes in the game literally become comical with them turned on, the backgrounds are a blurred mesh with the characters looking like they've been pasted there. Generally I find everything being in focus to just look better to me.
I've also learned don't always default to Vsync. Naturally you want to turn it on because screentearing sucks, but sometimes it isn't that noticable in a game and you'll ultimately be sacrificing a lot of frames for it. One thing I do debate with myself a bit tho is resolution. A lot of people seem to be willing to do anything to get the game to display in their monitors native resolution, however I find I'm much more satisfied with bumping the resolution down to 720p and getting better graphical settings and framerate. I guess it really is just a matter of preference.
One thing that really did help me out was this: http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/witcher-2-tweak-guide#1 This was excellent, it walked me through every single setting and even gave clear examples of the effects. Does anyone know of a site that does this exact same thing on a constant basis? It definitely helps with figuring out the best settings.
That site you posted has a few and occasionally with new games Nvidia writes a few pages explaining what each setting does and how much it affects performance but I don't know of any site that does it for every game.
And yeah, I've gotten to the point where I'm occasionally disabling motion blur and dof as well, but it all depends on how it's implemented. Object based motion blur (where only objects that are movie quickly get motion blur) is really cool a lot of the time but most games (and I can't think of any games that don't) pair this with the full screen motion blur, which looks awful. It also depends on the quality of the motion blur. Kind of the same thing with dof. I don't typically like it in gameplay but it can look pretty cool during cutscenes as long as it's good quality. Bokeh for instance, which I don't think TW2 uses, which is movie-quality dof. When used decently in cutscenes it can be fine.
And again, vsync depends on how it's implemented. There's double buffered and triple buffered. Double buffered will drop your framerate down to 30 fps if it drops below 60 fps no matter by how much. So if you drop to 59 fps the game will drop to 30 fps. Triple buffered allows drops to 59 fps and such. And it also depends on how well it's implemented as some games have awful vsync that destroys performance (Arkham Origins for instance). And performance loss is less for higher end cards. If you have an Nvidia card you can also force adaptive vsync, which will use vsync when you're above 60 fps but will disable it when you drop below so it doesn't hurt your framerate too much.
I never drop my resolution. I'd rather lower settings than do that because upscaling really hits the picture quality hard.
New game from Behemot:
I absolutely love the Behemoth's style. That's going to be a must buy for me.
Me and my friend finally beat P.T. after looking up a video guide on it.
Sony pre TGS stream starts in a little less than 5 hours, my bets:
Basically nothing super exciting. But some slightly cool stuff.
2ch apparently wrote up a list, but how credible it is I don't know. It includes FFXV and KH3 as well as Shenmue HD versions.

–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Ok Luminious Arc for the Vita is neat. Nothing special but it appeals to me more than the dungeon crawlers like demon gaze and what not. Looking ok for the Vita at least Japan wise. Oh I wonder if Destiny might appeal in Japan?
The PS4 stuff they're showing doesn't seem like the kind of things that Japanese audiences would want.
What am I watching… lol golf game ok.
Oh man already saw that during gamescom oh well also random chinese comments in stream chat throw me off trying to read them until I notice wait... I can't.
Well lots of comments on how real the Order looks but also a few give us Japanese games thrown in the chat.
I think after Bloodborne we should have gone through all the major things that were already announced?
I don't think they're going to show Until Dawn, let's hope something new after this.
So are Sony just assuming nobody in Japan watched E3? This conference is awful for me so I can't imagine how the Japanese people there feel about all these games.
Oh finally that kind of game showcase xD. I think any hope for Persona stuff just died for me. 30 min left.
New Disgaea! That's cool I think. There's a lot of enthusiasm in chat for P.T. understandably.
Yakuza time.
TGS pre-hype killed… very meh but also pretty expected, also way too much talking from these suits man.
Pretty sure even Gamescom kept it pretty concise and packed with titles but man Yakuza guy and these Namco people are talking way too much.
I SPOKE TOO SOON YES FINALLY SOMETHING!!! Persona 5 for PS4.
Ok time to really save for a ps4.
Lol they're pulling a Hyrule Warriors on Dragon Quest.
Biggest disappointment no Level 5 presence for ps4.
This presentation was supposed to be 1:30 hours. Hard to tell if there's anything else cool in store or if Dragon Quest Heroes is the closing title.
Seems they were getting the stuff nobody cares about out of the way. Ys and Persona on the PS4. Among other things. Been thinking of maybe trying to play some Ys games.
Edit: Also Dragon Quest.
Dragon Quest Dynasty Warriors, ugh.
Why not make a proper Dragon Quest RPG on a console for the first time in a decade, you fucks.
Apparently it's an action RPG, not a musou game. I even saw "RPG" in the Japanese that was flashing on the screen.

What? Don't spread misinformation based on nothing.
You can see it very clearly in the gameplay it's unquestionably a musou style game. To make something qualify as an RPG doesn't take much but a few progression systems.
And that's not even considering that it's a Square/Omega Force collaboration. Omega Force is the Dynasty Warriors studio.

Japan wants DragonQuest but what platform and game genre doesn't seem to matter much.
Holy shit I rewatched parts of the pre TGS conference in English because a friend told me it was so bad that it was kind of funny.
And agreed, oh boy that was life interpretation? Horrible idea, For conferences like this it would be way better to prepare the scripts in advance especially considering this one in particular. There was no moment where going off script would have been needed. They had tons of suits speaking for quite some time.
Also "penetration".
The Phantom Pear was one of my favorite parts. Also You-bee-eye Soft, The Order One Eight Eight Six, and translating Goku's name.
The thing is they did have a script of some kind because you could occasionally hear them turning pages. I don't know how they could have been so bad.
Yeah, watched it live and everyone was having a good time. The Phantom Pear, The Order One Eight Eight Six, PenetrationPenetrationPenetrationx10. It was one of the worst press cons I've ever watched, but it was so hilarious.
I was actually impressed the translators said "Yakuza" everytime Ryu ga Gotoku was mentioned. I was legit shocked.
Dragon Quest Dynasty Warriors, ugh.

Because that would take effort and resources.
Lol, exactly. And all it takes koei tecmo is draging the dragon quest skin onto the dynasty warriors games they already have. xD
http://blog.ghostlight.uk.com/post/way-of-the-samurai-4-is-coming-to-pc-on-steam
Way of the Samurai 4 coming to PC. Seems Japanese games lately have been doing pretty good lately on PC. I remember playing a WotS game forever ago on the PS2 and enjoying it so I'll be looking out for this. Hopefully it's not a Dark Souls-tier port.
Better late than never.

I dunno what the older ones were like, but I think they were a little more serious? WotS4 is basically Japanese Saints Row (well, the newer Saints Row's) in terms of sheer goofyness… you can also romance a little girl.
... Yeah.

Provided your European/American copy of the game lets you.
If you can't give her summer lessons, gtfo!
Actually just realized that Sony went that way in their presentation what a world we live in.
GTA III is okay. I semi-understand the scale it had back in 2001, but that still shouldn't have excluded the mediocre gameplay, right?
The gun mechanics, the jumping, the control of certain cars, etc. It's all clunky as hell. And for an open world game, there aren't much mini-games you can do so far.
Big 'n' Veiny is annoying.

To be fair there weren't a whole lot of open world third person shooters out at the time the game came out so it's "mediocre" gameplay didn't exactly stand out to most people…..especially when they were beating up prostitutes and capping cops.
So Microsoft is buying Mojang, the developer of Minecraft for…. $2.5 BILLION!
That's fucking nuts. Fuck they were only offering Twitch a little under a billion. The dude who made that game sure struck gold. He even put it up for sale and is retiring, he's taking his money and leaving. I have to say Microsoft is kinda silly for buying a developer that only ever made a single game... a single game that was largely made by one man in not a very large amount of time. But hey, I guess Microsoft is looking out how much bank they're going to make by owning Minecraft.
I thought it was just a rumor, and not 100% confirmed? (Hoping it's not true.. but the lack of input from any Mojang employee or Microsoft employee kinda makes it hard to not believe).
And yeah.. Notch made the basis for the game… but the majority of the content now in the game was made by other Mojang employees after he got bored and went on to pursue other projects.
(And Mojang has more than 1 game. They also made "Scrolls". There was even that whole Elder Scrolls Bethesda debacle about the name of the game. https://scrolls.com/)
Minecraft is printing money and it's on every freaking platform nowadays. Still that is lot of money.
For a company that loss nearly a billion dollars this year investing this much money into Minecraft doesn't seem like a bad idea at all.
Receiver is free on the Humble Bundle store for today at least. Can't remember how long it was for.
Go home game, you're drunk.
You should turn off vsync for the best reading on that. The highest score might be for 120 fps and above, which some people do play at. I've seen images with 500+ fps in that benchmark too.

Vsync is off in the game. I use Adaptive Vsync with Triple Buffering in the Nvidia Control Panel. I'm pretty sure the Benchmark is basing it just on 60fps (tho yes, the game can go higher) and is simply programmed to say this result if it EVER dips below a perfect 60fps.
Hey its FF15 in TGS
Looks a lot more believable than the last trailer they showed.
I like the classic Final Fantasy piano tune at the end. was a nice touch I can't wait to play the demo.
Ugh…I dunno why, but I'm definintely not feeling FF15.
The drudgery of FF13 probably has me disillusioned with the franchise altogether :getlost:
The gameplay is kinda slippery and awkward, it less KH style. Well, that makes sense since the director left to work in KH3.
