@Hari:
Why the hell not? It fits and not contradicting anything, as we know virtually nothing about Devil's Fruits and Sea Devil. And it's about time to explore and expand that concept.
Here KC said it.
@King:
But then Oda would have to come up with several explanations about why and how God Fruits are different from Devil Fruits. There's also the fact that "Akuma" from "Akuma no Mi" doesn't necessarily mean "Devil", so the contrast between God and Devil doesn't really work here.
And for what reason he would do this anyway? What would be the point?
Really, it would be a downright unnecessary addition with unnecessary work involved. The myth that anything can happen in One Piece really needs to die.
Even CoA, something that was clearly planned and added late to the story, has mostly been explained to us already. In fact, everything essential has.
Like you said, something can be introduced and have his significance unveiled later (Haki), but such a thing (God Fruit) hasn't been introduced yet, much less hinted at. Every power so far has been labeled as Devil Fruit.

@Razh:
It wouldn't be just after 700+ chapters. It would mean the new type of fruit was undiscovered for 700 years.
I could only see that happening if the said new type of fruit was extremely rare, like there was no more than 3 fruits of that kind existing.
But paramecia as it is already covers a wide variety of different abilities.
It's gonna have to be even rarer then mythical zoans and we only have two right now

@neurisse:
Don't take it too seriously, that's just me letting my imagination run.
But I have to say that I believe Oda can still introduce new important stuff. For instance, the national treasure at Mariejois that, if discovered, could shake the world.
You do realize that this "National Treasure" can easily be an ancient weapon, right?

@Tangaroa:
New type of fruit? Weather control would be a paramecia.
Whose talking about the weather fruit in here?
