Chapter 763: Human Declaration

Who the eff is Doula?
-
-
Very nice chapter
-
Law's a D. :o
Meh was half expecting that.
I'm betting that some of the other supernovas are D's too.

Thanks a ton .

Who the eff is Doula?
Doula mongo was a terrible mistranslation for doflamingo by you know who
-
Law has Water in his name. This is cool for some reason.
It means he's turning into a Final Fantasy character.
-
Thanks a ton .
There's the full link. He started doing his own translations after the big dip in Mangapanda quality two weeks or so ago. They've started to link his work in their chapter threads.

http://imgur.com/a/B6PcV#0I should also point out that he translates from chinese rather than the original raw. So take the information presented with a grain of salt if you're trying to establish information based on his translation. Otherwise, compared it mangapanda's butchering every week, it's a much better read.

http://imgur.com/a/B6PcV#0Yeah, I just finished reading the latest chapter and I have to say this translation seems great and he also leaves notes around, so is big relief to finally found a capable translator, I'll ask Aohige or CCC to see If they recommend it instead of going with Mangastream.

Good to know .
-
OF COURSE he has the will of D!
-
Are we forgetting somethig?
The birdcage is probably in this flashback.
-
Where's this translation from?
just google '' one piece 763 imgur'' thats what i did
by the way baby 5 is so cuuute
-
i wonder whether law feels bad for fighting the family after the time he spent with them. in this chapter we see their interaction between each other and they seem to be a fun family. law surely hates dofla but what about the other member? he did cut off buffalo's and baby 5's head but did he do that out of hatred or just to provoke dofla while he actually feel bad about it?
-
So, just out of curiosity. Have we seen Doffy use his DF in the flashback as of yet?

There are marks on Wellington's back consistent with Doffy's slicing but it's not definite
-
that wellington guy got string mark on his body.
edit: damn ninjas
-

Not really, but right on the next panel where Baby 5 and Law were fighting a pirate, the pirate is laying down with several cuts on his back which I assume were from Dofla's DF

edit: double ninja'd

Yeah, makes that "They're enemies" line at the end of Punk Hazard pretty cold.. well colder.

Nah, but it's implied, if the back of Wellington (the pirate) and some of those wooden boards are any indication. [hide][/hide]
EDIT: Damn you guys :ninja:
-
I guess he got his answer lol
-
I think that situation got out of hand so Doffy stepped in. Baby5 is crying and Dofla is fixing his tie up.
-
Doesn't Law mention 'D causing a shit storm' like twice? once when he's introduced then in his fight against Doffy. I think that's a good few hints Law knows more about shit then he let on.
Loved this chap. I liked how Corazon ended up on his ass in like every panel. Like an elegant swan.
Wasn't it obvious Corazon wasn' his name when Doffy tells Law he could have been the third Corazon.
Sorry if any of that has been mentioned, just wanted to hop in.
-

Of course, after all, what are the odds that you find 4 strong subordinates that are all naturally named after the Spanish names of card suits?
-
Again, why couldn't he educate them without dropping everything.
And yes, if you are in immensely secure, wealthy, privaleged position, have two kids, and drop it all for no other reason then "I want to live as ordinary people do", again, fuck you.
Darth is right. If this guy really wanted to live a normal life, the least he could do is prepare his kids for such a life by not spoiling them so much, or telling them they are going to leave from Mariejois in a couple of months so they could learn to behave properly in the normal world. Unless something really tragic or upsetting happened, which forced him to leave to leave from Mariojois asap, but that's still stupid and egoistic, because by not preparing your kids before going to the real world has tragic consequences, as any human with half a brain would know. Not that i didn't like his role on the flashback or the flashback itself, this episode was totally amazing, but this guy still seems like a really stupid and selfish person.
-
Poor Baby 5 went from being a nice girl to a walking joke
and I guess she was genuinely sad about Law betraying them after all
-
I guess this is relevant for some reason.

Selfish? For putting the lives of his kids above his own? For trying to fix his mistake? For trying to live a humble life away from the rotten Celestial Dragons?
-

It's OP, stupid names are a thing so I just bypassed it.
-

The birdcage is probably in this flashback.
Now that you mentioned it… It most definitely is. I can see no other event where Law had seen the Birdcage besides this flashback.
-
Oh man, she really cared about him.
-

By that time Law had already forgot about the Family Love and moved on to the true love:
BEPO LOVE!

Could Aohige explain the concept of the **忌み名(いみな)**in Law's "Water" middle name? What does it mean to a japanese reading it? Thanks.
-
So Mingo wore his shades post Mariejois life (even in the presence of his family); had his eyes wrapped during the citizen uprising; only takes them off when he's alone
somehow gives you the feeling that (if it's not shown in the flashback) either Luffy/Law will connect with Mingo's face and knock them off revealing the eyes he's hidden for so long.

He explained in the spoiler thread that it's written the same as Waterloo, which goes along with Trafalgar. Both were battle sites during the Napoleonic wars.

We saw one of them in this chapter; they look normal, but carry a look of fear. It's implied from those panels and from the next scene with Law that he wears them so people can't see the fear of persecution in his eyes.
-
@Fire Fist:

What they asked doesn't have to do with the meaning of Waterloo itself, Law says something like "ワーテル" は忌み名で…ウチの家族は代々… (I can barely see the raw so don't quote me on this)
-
Any hints at Corazons fighting style? Lol..

What i asked has absolutely nothing to do with this reference.

that pun was inevitable! Info: if you haven't read the chapter yet and don't wanna get spoiled leave this closed:[hide]
Tbh, I always dreamt of the Moment where the civilians in OP can take revenge on the tenryuubito. But outta all those assholes they take revenge on the one who was ready to give up the tenryuubito Lifestyle and his Kids. Ok, DD was still an a-hole as a kid, but by grown-ups beating him up, of course his personality went further down…[/hide]No. It actually makes PERFECT SENSE. The donquixote family being FORMER tenryubito gave them the reasons to attack them. NOT BEING CURRENT tenryubito means no admiral will come whoop your ass if you hurt them (donquixote).
Tenryubitos are not strong fighters. They just carry guns. Ordinary people would have killed them long ago and this slavery shit wouldn't have happened if they weren't protected for being the "creators" of this current OPverse.
-

Ok i'll try to explain, "忌み名" (the two kanjis are 忌(-む) which means taboo or to avoid in this case and 名 which means name) which we pronounce "いみな/imina" same as "諱" which means "true name"..
So here we go, Waterloo in japanese kana is written as this ワーテルロー, Law in japanese kana is writen ロー (RO-), so if you read onepiece in japanese it makes much more sense in this case.
So his real name IMO would be Trafalgar D. Waterloo. Where "Law" and "Loo" has the same spelling. So Law is derived from Waterloo/Watelaw or whatever… he clearly got it from Waterloo.
-
How the hell did two people of normal looking size have two kids that are like…10 feet tall.
-

I seriously doubt much of the Mariejois population is even aware of what goes on in the "normal world." They live in such a ludicrously insular utopian existence (supposedly) that the full grasp of the CD's knowledge of the real world wouldn't fill a thimble. Sure, they leave their acropolis to exploit the local peasantry but that is under the almighty umbrella of the WG which mercilessly puts down anyone who so much as offends a CD (which hardly takes much). The real world is completely alien to them, where "reality" is just a bunch of mewling humans devote their whole existence to the CD's and those that don't get exterminated or punished like animals.
He chose to move into an area outside of WG control, which is key here. That's virtually living in frontier wilderness. What's curious is that even though this territory was exploited by the CD's, it wasn't under WG control. My guess is that the WG had control in the past but recently lost it for some reason. Either way, he nor anyone appears to have had any idea the native public would revolt against them. Just that they'd retire in blissful co-existence.
If anyone wants to go conspiracy theory one this, it could be assumed the CD's knew what would happen to them if they went there and secretly wanted them to be lynched by barbarous humans as a "divine punishment" for rejecting his sacred position or some such conceited CD-like nonsense.
We now know where the "Don Quixote" part of the family name comes from–the well-meaning but delusional father whose idealistic goals were completely impractical in the face of reality. Except here it's more tragic than farcical.
-

Well in OP world i have notice that the tallness of some characters depends on their strength and (stronger variable)age but there are some exceptions too. If you take a good look at these flashbacks you will see that Doffy is shorter there than now.
-
I thought that dofy's comment about law's "shitty eyes" was rather interesting..could maybe be a clue as to why dofy hides his own eyes? Not sure if anyone mentioned that but I thought it was worth throwing out there! oh yeah and i think the whole line dofy said to law was something like "those shitty eyes of yours reflect the hardships you suffered.." and that's when he follows up by saying he's got what it takes bc of that so it makes me think that he's obviously sympathizing and sees some part of himself in law that gives him potential. It makes sense that that's why dofy wears his sunglasses once the hardships in his life start so that no one can see them reflected in his eyes…thoughts??
-
Selfish? For putting the lives of his kids above his own? For trying to fix his mistake? For trying to live a humble life away from the rotten Celestial Dragons?
Egocentric would be a better word here. Also, his decision was most certainly whimsical and not thought out in the slightest.

Nice chapter
Now we know why doffy says he go through heaven and hell as a kid. it's almost like robin all over again .
doffy act like a true young CD while on town lol.pica wear's a suit .
baby 5 take cares dellinger, Cute .law bribe buffalo with an ice cream lol.
hah so corazon can speak after all. even he doesn't bother to when doffy ask him what with the wound ( cora write on a sheet paper instead say its enemy lol ).
and the revelation : Trafalgar D Water Law.
and probably this is the cause of "the incident 13 years ago"
hmm….
a little teory / prediction / assumption :
Doffy mention there are treasure on Mariejois.treasure that can be used to controlling the world.
[this treasure can only be obtained / unloked by people from ancient kingdom. and People from ancient kingdom have a "D" on their name (assumption)].
Doffy knew all of this because his family is part of the inner circle within the CD.
Doffy will learn Law real name accidentally (from buffalo and/or baby 5 when they chating). and then Doffy set a plan to use law to obtain it, so he can come back to "heaven".
Corazon don't like this plan (we will know the reason why, on the future chapter). because of this, Corazon will betray Doffy by sending Law go as far away from Doffy.
Doffy furious by Corazon betrayal, because Corazon prevented Doffy plan. and this will lead to Corazon death.not refined enough, but that what come to my mind when reading this chapter .

I doubt it needs a "D" to control it. He knew about it, it seems he wanted that power Law has for himself, given he said he had no intention of giving it to him…..I'd still like to say Ancient weapon could be the their national treasure, if not that then something....hopefully we'll learn about it in this flash back....

Can someone tell me how does family name change after marriage works? Cause most of the case I know, the Husband's name turns into the general family name. Or in Japan, things are different?
it's more like a spanish thing for what i remember…they get both family names, one part from the dad and one from the mother en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_naming_customs

"Doffys father should've brought his kids to normal people when there were babies. Ripping them off of their privileges at that age was just dumb. He could have saved himself and his family from alot of trouble…" Captain Hindsight flies off
Well maybe he had good reasons to wait?Another thing about Law. I'm the only one who feels uncomfortable with him being a D. Ds are always chaotic, charismatic and kinda dumb (only listening to themselves or the Will of the D). Laws character doesn't quite fit in. He's more intellectual and coldheartly calculates his plans for revenge. I think thats why alot of people were surprised at this reveal, because his character shows nearly zero similarities with the other Ds.
