Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra

Well, the Red Lotus's logic appears to be that the universe before Wan's separation of Raava and Vaatu is its balanced state. They seem to believe that there must be a balance between order and chaos in the world, hence the line "chaos is the natural order.' It suggests the linked nature of both; that to spread chaos is to create order. With the avatar holding the spirit of Raava, the world has leaned far to the side of order, so the Red Lotus seeks to balance the universe with chaos. Unalaq's attempt to do so involved becoming the avatar of chaos, presumably with those motives, but the Red Lotus thought that his actions were both too selfish (giving him all the power) and, perhaps, too extreme (able to tip the world off balance in the opposite direction).
At least that's the way I'm reading into this.
Yeah that's the way I feel it went, too. That's the reason why they wanted Korra as a kid, so that they could open the portals and release Vaatu. And now that Vaatu is kaput, I feel like they need to do something to Korra and Raava to balance that out, or the "end of the avatar" that was mentioned by Zaheer back in the first episode.
It's kinda like how in Final Fantasy III the dark crystals are going crazy but back in the day the light crystals were flooding the worlds with light, although I guess also some government shenanigans involved as well. Chaos being the natural order is just because 1) change is already occurring thanks to Korra keeping the worlds open and you can't keep the order as a result without adding more change 2) from the perspective of the red lotus, all wars and conflicts are caused by "too much order" in the form of government leaders.

So basically their the Avatar's version of The Dark Knight's Joker only as a four man group? Their excuse also kinda reminds me of Rave Master, villains had the same idea there too.

Spirit world is joined to the main one now. Portals are open.
The transfer both ways is easier than it used to be, I'd assume.
See? This explanation took you a few seconds. They could've added it into the episodeā¦

@Aru:

Honestly, I didn't remember this plot point as well, Aang awoke even in the middle of the snow with Zuko didn't he? That was the only time that a spirit proyectee was moved wasn't it?
-
Just got all caught up ^_^ I am seriously enjoying this season! See, all they needed to do was eliminate the romance from the main character and it's alllllll good. Bolin's romance? Hell yes! Toooootally cool with that.

Found out that episode 10 has leaked.
https://mega.co.nz/#!Q8VFSTAJ!EFfudF3q3XH63MwoEJn4u5yvZk-wMDGDaF_S68CUjl4Wonder if this leak happened before or after Nick released the third set of bending gifs which includes scenes from episode 10.

Just saw 10ā¦.wow, brutal.
-
Oh boy.
! Damn, I expected the Earth Queen to last at least until the finale, but I guess the ironic title should have given it away. I can't wait to see how the chaos unfolds in Ba Sing Se. There's definitely a lot of repressed tension there to be unleashed.
! Rest of the episode was pretty fun. Bolin takes the spotlight again. I absolutely loved his nonchalant conversation with his captors. He just can't help himself. It also gives the Red Lotus a chance to have some personality, too. I like Ghazan a lot for engaging with Bolin (and the little snarkiness we've seen him provide). The groups' earthbenders are always the best characters.
! Korra's plot was fun, too. I like any time Asami gets to kick ass. She doesn't get a lot of time to shine as the human engineer in a group of battlewizards. I hope she gets more to do, though, in the season's climax.
! Also, I know it's Nick, but really skirting around the words 'kill' and 'dead' takes some of the impact away from the scene. On the other hand, we did get to see a straight up assassination and that was pretty brutal by Nick standards, but it's almost worse that we get to see on-screen murder, but no one wants to admit it. Once again, the most annoying parts of the show are Nick's fault. -
A children's show, what you gonna do.
Abrupt and violent end is a great line btw -
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmmmmnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
! Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
Fun episode though.
! Korra and Asami's side plot was pretty fun, and of all people Lin actually remembered to bring treats. Bolin's in it to help flesh out the other red lotus people more, and then Zuko's there because why not.
! Zuko: "Damn, why is it that every time I'm in the desert I learn about some super secret lotus society?" -
Another leak? I'm starting to think that Nickelodeon just leaves the masters in a bus station and puts "Cokey Mcsniffing" (The local Hobo) to guard them.
-
! Yes, I did saw it comming, and I guessed the weapon right. But not the obvious descent to madness of Ba Sing Se, that wall won't stay upā¦
! I still belive that Bolin won't metalbend, but lavabend. Neither fit his personality, but with lava at least he's more unique, and fits more his family background. One thing that Korra didn't tell Zahir last chapter was that, yeah, the Earth Queen is a bitch, and the President is a moron, but the president is just an elected oficial, and the other 4 world leaders (Zuko's Daugther, Esna/Desna, her father and fucking Tenzin) are pretty cool people, not to mention, her family!!
ā- Update From New Post Merge ---
If we count past lives as family members, then the Fire Lady is like her great grandaugther, Tenzin her son, and her current life father and cousins.
-
Pretty neat.
! Mega Stun-fisk confirmed. Lol.
! And loved the "2 out of 3. Not bad" xD -
Whoa who would've thought that
! we'd see someone airbend the air straight outta someone's lungs? I guess that's the airbending equivalent to the effective/lethal bloodbending. And I'm suddenly reminded of Game of Thrones. :D?
! But pretty satisfying that airbending is seeing more applications. What's next, lightning bending to control nerve impulses? Body control? Mind control/wiping? :D -

ā- Update From New Post Merge ---
Ep's out on Nick now.
-
Incoming plasma bender by pseudo science super air compression.
-
I stand by my idea that next level air bending should be vibration bending.
And now I'm just imagining a series of meditating monks, sitting cross-leg in a temple and vibrating.
-
Nick's plan was actually to time this with the pre-street release of WSJ in Japan so that it matches with Toriko.
-

The fanfics this would make.

[Airbending Intensifies]
-
! Freaking sandshark reminded me of Dune or something like that. And Zaheer is just overpowered, how do you even defend against getting the air inside your lungs bended away from you? And I'm still waiting for my man Bolin to be of some use besides providing with humorous bits - "Your mustache grew out at the age of 10." xD
It seems like this season is about Korra restoring (political) order to the world, or maybe the feudal system will be substituted by something else Korra will have to come up with over the course of these final episodesā¦ at this point I can't do anything but speculate. Korra was confronted with the negative aspects of the current system in the form of her exile from Republic City by its president, who tried to blame problems resulting from the merging of the of both the spirit world and the human world on her, but the Red Lotus' vision is too radical for her I think.
-
well that was satisfying. It will be interesting to see how Korra deals with this, fight the people, support the royal line. Would setting up a new gov't just piss Zaheer off again. The goals of an anarchist are not very clear.
-
At this point I just wish we knew more about the individual members of the red lotus.
They all seem pretty interesting but man we just don't know a whole lot about them.
Also maybe this is just because we just came of season 2 but it's nice to really feel these guys aren't pure evil.
Lavabending guy responding to Bolin was nice. -

Luffy did it. Just hit them fast and hard before they can pull their trick.
-
Or be an airbender and you can just do the opposite operation, right?
You know, I rewatching the old Avatar episodes ā¦ "Last Airbener" or whatever. And right at the end, they go to watch this play about their adventures, and in the bit about Ba Sing Se, Jet is kinda crazy and then gets hit by a rock. And then we get:
Sokka: Did Jet just die?
Zuko: I dunno. It was really ambiguous. This reminded me of that lol.
-

Varric creator of the original vibration benders. Hur hur, ok I need to grow up.
-
And people wonder how the air monks amused themselves in their simple, secluded lives.
-
Of course the next great war of the avatar world will be cause those fuckin monks won't share that sweet, sweet vibration bending with everyone else. Everyone has neeeds, yo.
Shit. That's why Lin could never forget Tenzin. Once you go air, you never go back, I guess.
-
This post is deleted!
-
! Huzzah. The Earth Queen is dead, and the manner in which it happened was amazing. Nice one Zaheer. My respect for him went up just for that 1 act alone.
! I lol'ed at how Bo lin was bonding with 2 the members of Red Lotus. -
hey, so anybody see the movie, Tremors?
-
Damn, drop Korra, I want the show to be about Red Lotus guys only.
-
hey, so anybody see the movie, Tremors?
Yes, also it's sequels, prequel and the TV series too of course. :v Why?

I'm assuming the giant sand fish thing reminded cap usopp of that

I'm assuming the giant sand fish thing reminded cap usopp of that
Yeah, yeah. I see, the Graboids. :v They kinda reminded me of the sandworms of Dune because of the three symmetric mouth.

Korra season 2 artbook to be released Sep 16, 2014.
Korra season 3 artbook to be released Jan 20, 2015.I got the first one (as well as the Last Airbender art of) and they're pretty solid books. Always assumed this was their intent since they released the first Korra art bookā¦ well... after the first season.
Still no word on further soundtracks though...
-
sweet. well that's good timing. Now I can see all of them. ;3

Interesting read about the avatar movie http://forums.avatarspirit.net/index.php?topic=22897.msg2391414#msg2391414
-
Yeah I saw that a week ago andā¦ I still don't really buy it. Beyond the lack of verification, it doesn't add up with things like shyamalan during the promotional tours saying American audiences not understanding his work while euro audiences get him amongst other quotes. Sure some of it is to sell the movie but I'm not sold on the inconsistencies
-
i'll buy it tbh anybody who's seen the show couldnt possibly ever think the movie was good
-
Well, I'd say that anybody who has any actual sense couldn't possibly think the movie was good, either, but well, the abomination was somehow made

Just wondering, what did it say? The entire movie thread was deleted on the 13th. :(

Episode 11 is up and about the internet.
! Well, shit. Looks like things aren't going too well for the good guys. The whole battle sequence at the Northern Air Temple was pretty brilliant. I'm just really hoping this doesn't mean they've ambiguously killed off Tenzin. I'm still glad he put on a badass show and doubly glad that it wasn't Zaheer alone who took him out (an amateur beating a master would have been really unfitting and Zaheer was definitely losing in direct confrontations. He only won overall since he managed to buy himself enough time for the rest of his team to assemble. I really like how the action was handled).
! I guess this brings the season's plot threads full circle. All that's left is the final confrontation. I'm still hoping the Red Lotus' plot doesn't end with the season, since there should be more to the organization than Zaheer's little posse (and knowing more about the RL would probably flesh out the bad benders more. I'm still curious how they got so strong and motivated with only the training they received pre-incarceration. There's got to be a story there). I'm getting excited for the finale, though. Hopefully, third time's the charm. -
! "As long as I'm breathing" Tenzin, fuck off terrible choice of words!
! I'm actualy scared about Tenzin, see what a little assassination can do in this kind of setting?
! Next chapter is "Enter the void" isn't it? I was guessing that it was an advanced Airbending move, where you leave the vacum, and use it to attack people, mainly by asphixiation. -
Thoughts on the episode:
[hide]NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO[/hide]
[hide]NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO[/hide]
[hide][/hide]
Overall, I'd have to rate it a Tenzin/Ten
-
WOOOOOOOOOW the fights !!!
I'm so glad Tenzin show us what it means to be the master. He clearly had the upper hand against Zaheer!
Oh boy, I hope he isn't gonna join Iroh in the spirit worldā¦
Kya was really good aswell.Bolin going Barto with Zuko
-
Amazing episode! Loved watching Tenzin school Zaheer. He didn't even stand a chance!!
-
Noooooo.
@Galaxy:
!
Thanks. This looks like pure sophistry to me, as you guys said.
