I wonder if Kirito-kun and Asuna-chan will be Newtype character poll top 10 regulars for years to come just like Kira-san and Lacus-sama!

Oh they will, the otaku pandering force is strong with that couple.

Eh, imo SAO's animation is higher quality than Log Horizon. Which is unfortunate since the fights in Log Horizon are way more mmo stylized rather than the random hack and slash. Plus story is waaay better. How come SAO gets 3 seasons and thats only on 1?
And come on, Twilight is still way worse. Asuna vs Kristen Stewart?

Log Horizon's second season will air this fall.

So is log horizon actually good, because all I got from the first episode was generic harem anime with dude gets transported into a new world theme.

Technically SAO only got 2 seasons (if you count Aincrad and Alfheim as one) now that it's got GGO adapted. LH only got one season for now, but it's been confirmed that there will be a second one. At worst scenario, the animation studio and TV station where LH airs will still be the same as before, which means there will be no significant improvement in animation quality.
As a fan of MMORPG, LH satisfies my thirst more than SAO could ever hope to achieve. Story-wise, LH feels like dragging sometimes, but I enjoy every second of it and would gladly re-watch anytime. SAO has more actions and pretty straightforward, but it always boils down to Kirito YOLO-ing stuffs without actually giving another characters (beside Asuna) chance to shine. You might say KiritoxAsuna's teamwork is really good, but while I agree to some extent, their teamwork doesn't look that impressive even when compared to Minori's improved noob party.

O_o Harem anime-vibe? Is it because many female characters popping out in the same episodes? Or is it because of Soujirou's harem guild?
I can assure you that it's nothing as greasy as SAO in that aspect. LH focuses more on how its characters adapt to the new world that's close to the MMORPG they've been playing (down to its mechanics), but with actual sentient NPCs. Players have no choice but to govern themselves and build relationship with the NPCs.
And no, it's nothing like Kirito's "NPCs aren't just 3D objects like rocks or trees. They're alive!" speech in episode 5.
-
Once again, fuck SAO. I just found this little gem on batoto and the protagonist is already more likeable than Kirito. It would also make for a great short anime series.
http://www.batoto.net/read/_/254030/to-aru-ossan-no-vrmmo-katsudouki_ch1_by_ak-scanlationsI can't describe the disappointment I felt when I realized there isn't anything after chapter 2.
-
Good I try to watch log horizon further, but sao nah, I know that it's not good. It was best in the first episode, then it threw all the great potential down the drain.
-

I've watched only 12 episodes of Log Horizon so far, but I find it much better than SAO. It has that MMO feel unlike SAO, to me at least. The animation might not be as good, but everything else it does better. Do give it a watch.
-
As a fan of shooters I find the 'bullet prediction line' incredibly cheap.
Log Horizon's second season will air this fall.
ah thats good to hear
-
Log Horizon? Huh? I'll give it a try.
-
I started watching this a few days ago, after 5 episodes I already lost count of how many timeskips happened put of nowhere. How much time has passed in those 5 episodes?
-

I think it's around 2 years and a couple months. There's usually a date and year in the beginning of every episode, If you want to check yourself.
-
So I finished the SAO story arc a few hours ago.
! What the hell happened? How did Kirito pull a Jesus out of nowhere? This shit is even worse than Full-Hollow Ichigo

You sound surprised? There's more of that to come, brace yourself.

This is a emotional power up, of the kind of friendship power up. But this time inside of a game, where the villain is the one that decides the laws.
Or if you want to believe in SAO, you can always think that it was a computer bug!

Ah, that particular scene. The author sure wasted the chance to use the resurrection potion Kirito obtained from "Nicholas the Renegade" which was given to Klein. If Asuna could move in paralysis status just with sheer will, why couldn't Klein do the same?
-
SAO games aren't really videogames. They are some Matrix shit and Kirito is the chosen one.
-

Because Asuna loved Kirito while Klein was irrelevant. Love>logic and everything else>Klein to put it in proper context.
-
SAO would've been a better series if it was a collection of short stories set in Aincrad with Klein as a recurring character.
-
Klein is the best character in SAO. I actually kinda like Sinon and Yuuki, but he's still the best.
-
He's the only character I find remotely likable.
-
SAO would've been a better series if it was a collection of short stories set in Aincrad with Klein as a recurring character.
One would feature him sitting on a tree branch, watching some orcs kick the shit out of Kirito.
-
B-but he is Kirito's husbando!!!
-
I just watch the new episodes from SAO 2, and my god fuck Kirito. If the season was just about Sinon it would be fine (her introductory action scene has been the only awesome moment). Kirito need to die, how is even acceptable that the main character is the one that every girl wants to have (and now that he looks like a girl every guy wants to bone) and does everything right every time, he´s just boring. Wirhout him, the arc could be memorable.
I hope some character just shoot him in the face, a lot.
-
Why didnt Laughing Coffin become the villains of Season I? They look far more interesting than Kayaba and that other guy.
Liked seeing Death Gun mindfucking Kirito.
-
It gave a weakness to Kirito. I liked that for this reason. He was truly shaken up and just like Sinon asked to be saved, so did Kirito here. There's glimpses of interesting things in this, it has potential. It's just that there's also a lot of awfulness.
-
^even that will be dealt with rather SAO-like iirc. Any potential gets killed before it can improve the story.
Laughing Coffin (and the united raid on their guild) are one of the more interesting things about season one. Those fuckers were portrayed as crazy sons of bitches, killing for pleasure, committing atrocities left and right. But as I said above, any potential gets erased before anything good can happen.
-
^You have a good point, reminds me of Toriko where the few fucks up they do are lethal. Seems that this Arc will last 6 more episodes because someone on YT said Volume 5 have been already covered with episode 6.
Hope we get to see more flashbacks in SAO.
-
Alright I originally picked up SAO because I first discovered Log Horizon and it was over for the season. I like it but not to Log Horizon's level.
Anyhow, SAO arc was good. ALO arc didn't like so much. This arc? I like it. I guess you really can't beat badassness.
-
Welp Todays episode just served to hype next weeks episode, which will feature the Bob Main Tournament, it better not suck.
-
I feel really childish for saying.. less talking and more fighting, okay?
-
Sinon loss to Kirito was so god damn irritating. She has no problem keeping her cool against a huge guy with a gattling gun and is able to take him out even when losing a leg. Kirito however, she can't somehow can't get over the fact he is a guy using a female avatar (really?) and just keeps missing her shots for some friggin reason. Come on, it took Asuna at least a full season before she became useless but this is ridiculous.
-

The problem with SAO is that it is either horrible dialogue or generic action with dumb DEM. Lose-lose situation, really :/
-

I agree with you, the characters are so vapid that there is no chance any dialogue is going to be interesting. I'd prefer it if they just went back to Kirito being an OP badass and long close ups of Sinon's ass whilst she's sniping dudes.

Bro she felt bad for him and pretty much lost focus and missed all of his shots, you must be a god in Call of Duty or Counter Strike , playing with a sniper weapon isnt that easy .

Dude he was walking in a straight line, a newbie with a sniper could of hit him. And there is no way someone would be that shaken from finding out its really a guy behind a female avatar, to feel that bad and lose that much focus.

She felt bad because she thought he passed for something similar to what she did.

A new chapter of Toaru Ossan (the manga I linked to a while ago; the one that kicks SAO's ass)!

Great episode, we had some good action and Death Gun coming out out of nowhere, his main weapon looks great.

That shotgun acrobat was pretty cool. I actually hope they don't just kill him off and he joins as a new character. I doubt that happens though.

I feel like it's probably someone from ALO or SAO.

http://bato.to/read/_/274907/toaru-ossan-no-vrmmo-katsudouki_ch4_by_ak-scanlationsI'm sorta misusing this thread for the updates but this story is still so much better than SAO which totally justifies my actions. Now go 'n enjoy the chapter!
-
I think Log Horizon ruined SAO2 for me… after seeing a good MMO anime, SAO2 with it's shoddy writing is just terrible. I really hope the next arc is better than this crap.
-
To it's credit, it's better than anything in season 1. It's still very very flawed, though. I liked the action in this episode and I liked that, firstly, Sinon ended up saving/helping Kirito and secondly, it's ultimately Shinon herself that gets the will to fight for someone else. She has her own arc. That's a huge improvement. On the other hand, I just out of curiousity rechecked the novel version of this and there's actually straight up reference to rape. UGH. I'm happy the anime at the very least removed that shit and didn't go to downright gross territory with Sinon like with Asuna, still pretty damn ugh, though.
-
I dont understand Japan, they remove gore in current animes but they dont censore rape? wtf.
I liked how Kirito kneed Shinkawa.
-

My favourite part of the episode definitely.
Does Shinkawa really rape her in the manga? Looked a proper d.ck so wouldn't mind seeing more of Kirito kneeing him in the head.
-
It's just basically referenced, just for drama and that's pretty awful. The only "consolation" is that it isn't as gross as the tentacle thing with Asuna… but it's STILL gross. There's absolutely no need for it.
-
Ok, so the guy becomes a serial killer because he chose the wrong class? Come on….
