Hiatus x Hiatus III: Goodnight, Sweet Princes

I am the only one who thinks Ging and Pariston would become the ultimate cop duo?
Ben Stiller as Ging, Owen Wilson as Pariston.
-
I wouldn't say that I'm calling foul just yet. But I am starting to really want to see Pariston wipe that smug grin off of Ging's face.
Agreed, but only because Pariston's fabulous. Have you seen him on the last episode of the anime? That's style, man.
-

Grin and Smile!
Taking down Criminals!
Solving Misteries!
Seducing all genders!
Grin and smile!
Cue exploitations music -
Okay Togashi, we get it:
Ging = Yusuke
Pariston = Hiei
Leorio = Kuwabara
Kurapika = KuramaThe gang is getting back together.
And yes, I know Knuckle is a Kuwabara clone. This is just a thought that amused me.
Edit: and also, Killua is a better Hiei proxy with him protecting his sister and everything. Just seems as if he, like Gon, are gonna sit this adventure out.
-
I love hating Togashi and certain aspects of Hunter X Hunter, because I fucking adore it otherwise goddamn it. The hate almost makes the love more acute or something.
Like a bit of pain during sex or something. -

Why do you want him to beat Ging? The only reason Ging is being so smug is to prevent Pariston from ruining the voyage.

I'm not into BDSM stuff lol.
I'm talking like a little nibble or smack here and there.
It's the best metaphor for my relationship with HXH I could think of so fuck censoring that thought. -
I hope Gon and Killua are going to the DC too. I really like them, especially when they are together.
-

It's less about "beating" Ging, more about giving him a good challenge, putting a grimace on his face, sweat on his brow. As I've said, genius characters bother me. If I see Ging actually having a hard time with something, that will make him a much more interesting character for me.
-
I´ll see your Wing and raise you a Biscuit.
You know, I never thought of this before, but wouldn't it have been kind of fun to see some sort of interaction between Bisky and Wing when Gon was in the hospital?

i think they need a little training to go to DC
there are more strong monster
but if alluka wants follow killua that would be great! -

You will surely see more then enough of that, once they arrive at the DC. And Ging will be at the forefront against any possible challenge there.

Don't worry, Ging will meet his match
if they stop yapping about boring things and get their butts on the goddamn boatwhen they go to DC. Possibly another human. The idea is that everyone but Ging will be paralyzed (thus DC lives up to its hype).Togashi is deliberately setting things up this way.

but if alluka wants follow killua that would be great!I could see Killua and Alluka getting involved in this arc. I'm 100% convinced from this week's episode that she is one of the Ai creatures. Killua's father seems to be otherwise a fairly caring father. Calling Alluka not human makes me think he knows she's not really fully their child.

Well, a Zoldyck did go to the Dark continent at one point in time, so it's totally feasible to think that Silva might know about the creatures there.

I like the idea of Gon and Killua taking a break from an Arc like Leorio and Kurapika did for Greed Island and Chimera Ant. It's time for the other two main characters to shine. Plus it leaves a lot of time for Gon to do his soul searching and Killua to be on the run from Illumi. Those might not be very interesting stories on their own, and can be recapped in a chapter or two when Kurapika and Leorio return.
-
Reading HxH is like having sex while also having the nagging urge to punch your partners father in the face.

well i think zigg told zeno about the ai creatures then zeno told silva vice versa
so he knows that alluka is special from his brothers -

How does Leorio fit into this

@Purple:

Well that's a good questio…uhhh...wait...considering who's father he wants to punch, I'd rather him not fit into this.

Remember his campaign statements… jerking off.

I think it's a breath of fresh air that Gon and Killua won't play much of a part in this arc. I like that the focus is coming back to Kurapicka and for the first time [kinda] to Leorio. Hopefully they aren't pushed to the side for Ging and Pariston. However, I do we'll see Gon occasionally throughout the arc as he is the "main" character - he's had some part in every arc thus far, small and large. I think he'll have one of the minor roles of the arc, his own little story as he figures out what he wants to do. As for Kil? It's doubtful that we'll see him this arc, he's likely been Kurapicka'd. This arc is looking to be the longest yet and assuming Togashi does go on Hiatus, we could be looking at 10 years without Killua.

Great stuff. I loved the BGM as Killua and Silva walked towards the Alluka's "room" - as the doors were opening you could see the look on Killua's face slowly change, he didn't like that Alluka was being held like this. Great animation.
-
Alluka or Nanika is definitely the scariest character in HxH. If you know the rule that you can't deny her four requests and you go through what that woman went through? That's scary. Knowing you're going to die anyway.
-
Young Killua is dangerously adorable, I thought it was a nice touch that he playing Darts. Nice throwback to the siblings. Also, when he raised his aura, he had the same blackness leaking out that Gon recently had. I thought that was a nice touch.
-
Pariston makes every scene that he is in entertaining. Nothing more to say then that.

My only gripe is that if anyone should be showcasing and explaining Leorio's ability it should Leorio.

Wouldn't it be funny if as soon as the voyage began the story would switch to a killua and Gon training and preparing arc. Letting the first months in DC happen offscreen? Maybe even resulting in a rescue Kurapika/Leorio arc.

Stahp!
We're not going to see Killua if not Gon as well for 10 years! I already dealt with the longass Kurapicka hiatus, so I guess I could handle this as well, doesn't that doesn't make it any less evil… but what you say actually happening? I'd probably have nightmares.

Would really laugh my ass off

I know I just expressed that the annoying parts of the series are counterbalanced and everything…
...but that does not cover the horrible fucking Greed Island training volume. Training arcs suck and Togashi is not an exception to this rule. Please god let this not happened.
-
The worst part of that one is that he opted tp give us a volume's worth of training and then glossed over most of Gon and Killua actually playing Greed Island.

And then the kids were rescued from Greed Island by… oh, let´s say....Moe.

So I caught up to 347 now, and I'm really confused on a bunch of stuff in this arc.
! 1. Why did Pariston jump ship to Beyond's group?
- What's the whole thing about Pariston threatening the hunters with the chimera cocoons?
- Why does Ging want #2 so badly that he'd double the reward?
- And why are some soldiers against taking money, but accept it once Ging re-explained his reason? Something about self-interest?
- Where's that line where the guy goes "Ain't nobody got time for that"? Can't find it :(
- Why are the Hunters Association and Beyond's group considered enemies if they're all essentially doing the same thing? I thought V6 was backing Kakin and the hunters are only holding Beyond at the request of V5/6.
Sorry if someone's talked about this before, I've been avoiding spoilers until now.

Why did Pariston jump ship to Beyond's group?
Because he has his own motives he hasn't totally revealed yet, and NOT working with the Hunters and the bureaucracy serves him better.
-
What's the whole thing about Pariston threatening the hunters with the chimera cocoons?
He's got a stock of them. Hasn't used em yet. Presumably we'll see it come up again later.
-
Why does Ging want #2 so badly that he'd double the reward?
Because he thinks he can control things better from there. Leadership role gets all the questions, responsibilites, demands, and duties. The money may be may be related to his nen ability.
-
And why are some soldiers against taking money, but accept it once Ging re-explained his reason? Something about self-interest?
Because Ging is suspicious. And then he told them a story that makes him seem less suspicious.
-

In a different translation than the one you're looking through.

Basically, he's a super powerful guy that came from out of nowhere that says he's going to go to a place and likely bring back natural disaster with him, and he won't say exactly what he's looking for… so that's kind of bad. But there's not a whole lot they can really do to stop him with his backing.[/hide]

Hunter X Hunter is seriouslyyyyy best read in an official translation. Togashi is so goddamned wordy and loves him some convoluted head games explained in excruciating detail…that a smooth breezy read is really fucking important.

If we European Android users can really subscribe to Alpha, I'll gladly do so :]

I think you can, I did it a few months back, you just need to sideload the app, then it uses your local currency in Google Play to pay for it.

Decided to catch up on the anime at the part where Meruem just ate Pouf and Youpi. So since he gained there abilities do you think if he ate Nettero would've got his?
Yeah it's one of his Nen abilities, known as "Aura Synthesis".
From wiki
! Meruem's initial ability gives him strength through consumption. Meruem's aura grows every time he devours a user of Nen, with their aura synthesizing to his own.
-
I'm not exactly completely sold on the idea that it means that Meruem would have gotten Netero's abilities by eating him, else he could display more than just punching and kicking things when fighting Netero. The synthesis I think is more along the lines that other nen user's auras get added to his own stock, and that pouf and youpi gave him his powers by the unique way they gave him their bodies.
-

I thought that power activated AFTER his near brush with death against netero
-
Nah he was shown "synthesizing" aura since that first run in with the bodyguard before getting to fake-Diego

Am I the only one who would pay for an Official HxH guidebook? I think it'd be nice to have if it included exclusive info and other various goodies in it.

Yeah, we can't really know either way for sure based on the vague description of auras "synthesizing" with Meruem's, as well as the fact that the only Nen users he ate (with known/useful abilities) were Pouf and Youpi. It could go either way.
I like to think (emphasis: my personal conjecture) that Meruem would have been able to absorb Nen abilities of those he ate. This is due to both the fact that the idea really adds to the danger and immediate threat level of the Chimera Ants, as well as the obvious inspirations from Cell who, also being the "pinnacle" of evolution, had all the best abilities of those who were a part of him.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Excellent chapter by the way with more great interaction between two of my favorite HxH characters atm. The action was excellent if not suspenseful, and I'm glad we finally have a glimpse into Ging's Nen abilities, albeit a very small one.
While all of this business regarding Ging convincing everyone that he's No. 2 has been thoroughly entertaining it has lend credence to the slow-paced teasing issues of the chapters post return. This is why I am glad that Ging has finally been accepted by all of Beyond's group so that we might finally get to the Dark Continent and see what Togashi's editor was talking about.
At this point I can't decide which plotline I'd like to see further developed in the subsequent chapters first, and that is why I am content to see wherever Togashi takes this. So long as he actually takes it somewhere.
-
no spoiler? well im waiting for the latest chap :D
