Well it just means in other sports the teams aren't good enough to win multiple times, lol. Just joking.
It's the other way around I think.
It just means that those winning countries are that good.

Yeah Schürrle got lucky there but that's how it is in football sometimes. Hopefully Algeria can tie in the second 15 min
6 Minutes left, please football god, let me survive this ;_;
Come on Algeria. If Algeria loses then USA hope will win this World Cup, I'm damn tired of the WC being won by the same group of countries.
Italy gone I was happy, Spain, England even more happy, then Brazil should've gone but on.pfftWhy can't something new ever happen? Something new always happens in other sports except soccer, WTF.
Relatively, this World Cup has a lot of new going on. Colombia and Costa Rica had never made it this far before. U.S. or Belgium will be rather fresh countries to make it to quarter-finals. And like others say, Netherlands has yet to win a world cup, so at least one semi-finalist won't be a previous champion.
Add to that the fact Brazil, Germany and Argentina have struggled against traditionally small teams, and you have a very different world cup. Also, out of two previous champions that remain, France and Germany, only one can make it to top four since one has to eliminate the other.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!!!
I just screamed so loud that I can barely talk anymore
Baam, what a great goal. France is next, lol.
Great time to make a goal Algeria. After you got a second goal against you … at the very end @_@
Wow. Just, wow.
Is over guys.
And here I thought we going into the new world but nope, we stuck on the old world.
Wait there is still hope with USA, Netherlands and co.
Lol once again, you can never be sure even in the last couple minutes.^^
How to watch this World Cup: start watching the match at the last five minutes.
We won
This was way to stressful ;__;
Wow … they did it.
Next is France ... and i don't know if i'm looking forward to that game at this point. I'm too tired to think about that now. Off to 4 hours sleep. ... Good night.
Damn, there goes my 70 bucks! Good game haha
France vs. Germany almost exactly 100 years after the start of WWI. Fun.
This World Cup is one of those things after watching you go outside and punch a stranger and ask him WHY?
Kids please don't try this at home.
Well if we jump to conclusions based on Algeria being not that a good team, Germany has no chance against France. I am talking to those who were shocked by Algeria holding to Germany. Congrats to Germany. Where is this 4 - 0 people were talking about.
Algeria played phenomenally. Not so much technically, but it was the spirit and guts they showed till the very end that impressed me. I sure was entertained.
France will be like the upgraded version of Algeria, meaning bye bye, Germany. :>
Dude, the 4th of July is going to be insane: Brazil vs. Colombia followed by France vs. Germany.
And it would be amazing if both brazil and france would loose.
And it would be amazing if both brazil and france would loose.
I actually think this would happen.
Great game! Too bad Algeria couldn't put one in the net during the first half when they were playing so well! You could tell they were tired in the second half.
Right now I think I'd take France in Germany v France, but who knows. It's been a crazy Cup.
In any case, GOGO USA!
Well, Friday is gonna be an all soccer evening. Watching Neymar cry when Brazil and their current, utterly uncreative piece of crap playstyle fail against Colombia and hopefully seeing the German team not playing like they lit up a huge blunt like 15 minutes prior to the kickoff. That was some absolutely awful stuff this evening, the only good thing that came out of it was all the Neuer memes flooding the internet!
I'm still going for Germany, but based on performance, I would want a Colombia vs. France semi-final. Mostly in gratitude to those teams for not giving us last-minute emotional rollercoasters.

It does not work like that, this wm is unpredictable, look at spain, they got owned too. Algeria just played dam good
What where is my 4-0? :wassat::wassat:
Algeria played defensive from the beginning they had in mind that they will loose… not as convincing as other teams....
Proud of Algeria, our players played with their guts.
Maybe with more luck and efficiency forward we could have scored a goal in the first 60 minutes. But in the end the german players thanks to their fitness managed to pull it off.

You're Algerian? Cool. I think at long last that completes the North African bingo game we were playing with AP users.
Do we have every World Cup country represented here in AP? Certainly feels like so …

I think the user "ica" is algerian too

Really? I seem to remember them causing Germany all kinds of problems in the first half. They even scored at one point (though it was disallowed).
I wouldn't call their display totally defensive, I saw some good attacking plays at times.
Think of all the times the German keeper had to come out and give a hard kick because Algeria were charging towards his box.
That algeria coach was really symphatic, i felt sorry for him after he cried.
This wm is unpredictable, all top teams struggling, brasil france germany, I know what Neymar means now:these guys are not jokes….
That's the thing about the Germans. After playing 120 minutes, they look like they can still play another 90 minutes. Algeria were tired, and that last goal was just a burst of adrenaline.
Monkey King, lol.
Netherlands deserved that penalty, it was a foul and Robben capitalized on it, like a proper player.

There was some brief period of time where I was aware of an Egyptian or two. Not major posters, probably don't post anymore, but still counts.
Sudan ain't on the Mediterranean. Don't care.

I've wondered this but do Costa Ricans in the Northeast get mad at Puerto Ricans using the term "Rican" to refer to themselves.
Like they stole your shit man.

whats this Bingo game?
whats this Bingo game?
Trying to get the whole of North Africa. We just won.
It's a great day for Arlong Park.
I'd like to advance the game to the challenging next stage, completing the whole Medd coast.
We'd have it mostly down but Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, and Israel seem to have held out. Also Montenegro.
No Israelis at all? I see them all the time on the internet, weird.
This game is going to pretty interesting! I don't know how US is going to approach it with one of their good players returning from injury. They don't actually have a superior counter attacking team so I can't see them go defensive and win it. They can however have one other striker and try to long ball it in the flanks to exploit Belgium's weakness in the wings. Will be interesting to see which tactic is going to be used by both teams. Predictions?

Think of all the times the German keeper had to come out and give a hard kick because Algeria were charging towards his box.
All Algeria did was counterplay. They always had every single player in their own half, aggressively pressing towards the German team as early as when they received the ball - which especially the German midfield had a really hard time with, as they need their room to make use of their combination play. And it made them nervous, so they lost the ball in midfield quite often - and that's when Algeria switched to offense way faster than Germany could switch to defense, resulting in opportunities that could have been prevented. And the times when Algeria was charging at the German goal and Neuer had to come out of his goal was nothing more than long serves over the wings, where our defenders could not keep up with the speed of the Algerian players because they usually play center. Mertesacker, for example, is like 1,96 or something, this guy won't win a sprint duel in all his life. So overall, Algeria didn't exactly play offensive, but rather aggressive and smart, countering the faulty German build up play in midfield wherever they could.
Sorry for the long post, but I love analyzing games :)
Hmmm, neither France nor Germany looked very impressive yesterday. I hope that's gonna make the rest of the tournament more interesting.
As for today; I'm afraid USA - Belgium may turn out to be rather boring with few chances to score from either side. Argentina - Switzerland might be interesting though.

By all means, keep 'em coming. Reading such analyses is incredibly interesting for a football fan.
It's clear as day that Neuer saved the German team yesterday. Hadn't he played the way he did, Germany would've been on their way home by now. But there's a reason Neuer is one of the world's best goalkeepers, often surprising the opponent's team with his unorthodox plays.
As for today- I'm rooting for Switzerland. They demonstrated in their last group match that they can play if they want. And if the team manages to surprise Argentina and scores 1 or 2 goals early on, they may very well be looking at a spot in the top 8.
Belgium vs USA I don't really care about. As long as the better-playing team advances I'm fine.
Watched the last 15 minutes of Ger-Alg yesterday, but I guess I didn't miss much :p those goals were great though.
For this afternoon, Switzerland has been quite surprising, but I don't think they can kick out Argentina.
And I'm really psyched for USA-Belgium of course! (Though I seem to be the only one :p) Gonna watch on the big screen~
@Monkey:
All this talk about "X WAS THE BETTER TEAM TECHNICALLY SPEAKING" is the dumbest fucking thing lol.
This entire thread has been full of it.
This isn't goddamned Final Fantasy, with mathematic technical lineups. It's a physical active sport where the only shit that matters is what's going on in the field and what happens and doesn't.
That's how sports are. It's what happens in the heat of the field. There is no better team except the one that won, stupid ref calls aside.Jesus christ when an American is telling you you're watching Futball wrong you know you're fucking up.
This post is so quintessentially US American it's making me laugh.
rather aggressive and smart
That's what I tried to say anyways, thanks for expanding on it.

Anyone who boils football down to "whoever wins was the better team" should not be giving out lessons regarding it lol.
This World Cup is so difficult, the World Cup is like 10x as hard as champions league, because every country wants to win this cup.
