Sabo can not "perfectly use his fire fruit", as he even said himself, in this very chapter, that he's not used to it because he keeps instinctively dodging attacks.
Chapter 751: "Sabo vs Admiral Fujitora"
-
-
Did I missed the part where he used his fire ability? Because all I saw him using was his fingers.
When he turned into fire with Bastilles mask in hand to avoid meteorite.
Yup. You did.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
The arc not over yet .
Darth your just angry the admiral is not star of the arc when the last arc and this one was always about Don .
The admiral\marines was always not going to do much this arc since it was never about them. But it is about Sabo, evidently.
Seriously. Revolutionaries got pulled into the arc out of nowhere, just so Sabo can be there to resolve plot-points, and you are calling me out on not being satisfied with bloody Admiral doing nothing through fifty chapters.
Your argument is conflicted. Rules you preach somehow apply as you see fit.
-

Your problem is thinking Sabo getting a DF is some major changing plot point when it hardly going matter at the end of this arc and was not even the reason they went there.
The admiral is doing what is he was order to do, see what going on and he choice to side with don vs luffy and law we also saw some of his moves .
If luffy fought and get the DF and gave it Sabo it won't have change anything but made the arc longer . -
But just so you know Darth, Sabo could crush Fujitoras skull as if it were an egg.
-
Name one bloody thing Fujitora did on his own this arc. One. Just bloody one.
And I don't know where that sense of danger you feel steems from. I can tell from which it doesn't: Presence of one of the strongest marines on the planet.
It's funny. I want the absolute fucking basic things from Fujitora, and you act as if I wanted him to curbstomp everyone present.
My sense of Danger is complete different from yours Darth, you want to feel that the Marines are everything in a manga based on Pirates and their dreams, this is not Marines and theirs. Fujitora hasn't done anything significant besides making Doflamingo worry about him and the whole Shishibukai thing, that's truth but you cannot expect an Admiral to do much on an Island where there's is also one of the Strongest characters on the whole series and everything is revolving around the consequences that Doflamingo's downfall will bring in which I for once expect Akainu to become active and show their so call power they now posses
-
That? That must be the most basic thing that a Logia do.
… Alabasta points towards something different, when Luffy blown both Smoker and Ace through the wall.
Smoker and Ace. Experience Logia users.
Sabo got his less then half a day ago.

Yes, one hundred chapters of marines getting trounced in every way, and me wanting for freaking Admiral to do something, so wrong of me, I know.
You are making marines less important then Oda does. Stop that. If they were meant to be generic mooks with no achievements, they should be generic mooks with no achievements.
Do not hype them up, do not give them unique designs, do not bring them up.
And what Oda does is the exact opposite and then does not capitalize on it.

And Issho already was trounced by the storyline enough for those forums to call him worst admiral out of all on multiple occasions. Which should tell you something.
-
Sorry, but so far Fujitora hasn't even been grazed. He hasn't much of a scratch on his face or dust on his clothes.
Oh the day he falls on battle. Oh my god. It's literally going to rain SHIT from heaven. Like, bloody diarrhea shit falling no stop like a tropical storm in fecal form.
Fuji has been probably a bit underused and we can't grasp his moral compass, but to say his hype has been for naught because. . .he's holding badasses by himself no prob? While still not even trying?
Please. Calm down a bit. You're clearly exagerating big time.
-
16 chars of Gag scene.
Aha.
Regardless, mastering devil fruit powers was always shown to be difficult.
And we have no other implications towards change into elements being the most easy, basic thing to do.
So yeah, I'm still going with that one.
-
Name one bloody thing Fujitora did on his own this arc. One. Just bloody one.
He crushed some gambling goons and flew around on some rocks. Checkmate.
-
So Darth, who the hell did you wanted to handle Fuji? There were no other options. It's still too soon for a SH to a fight an Admiral, they are no up to that yet, so it's pretty reasonable to have Sabo, the strongest fighter on Luffy's side to fight him. Don't you think that?
I dont intent to start a power level discussion, but we don't know the "top" of Luffy and Zoro's power. They didn't go all out so far till the time skip. I think they are perfectly capable to clash with admirals, and maybe hold them in a fight. I don't say they will win, cause i don't have a clue about that. But you can't say that they are not in this lvl too.
-

Exagerating? Maybe, but not especially big.
It doesn't matter if he get's scratched or not.
What matters is that he's been hyped, and then relagated to off-screen battle.
Storyline matters. Not power-levels.

Bad writing having precedence does not change the fact that it is bad writing.
Come on. Secondary characters should not outshine main characters. You can't have much more basic rule then that.
So to you strangers riding into town and solving everyone's problem, instantly revoking any kind of resonance that conflict could have had because they are the protagonists is bad writing? haha eh I realise people usually use such blanket statements to make arguments, this one you get called out on.
I don't know what writing school you go to but I'd ask for a refund if that's what they teach you.

Maybe Sabo was crushed to pieces by the meteorite like a noob and then he just gathered himself.

Thats not a bad thing when u comparing 4 guys :P

How i see it, the SH's will not get a lot whole stronger. Base Luffy from east blue, had the base of the power he had till the war, with the addition of battle experience and the gears. Same here, they got the power from the training, but from now on they will grow only with battle experience. I know it sound radical, but its how i see it

No one has done anything to Fuji and he is hold back one of the strongest characters in the manga we have seen so far what more you want .
Him beating bunch of fodder not going to make him look better , him hold back Sabo who is 2nd command of the revs , the MC brother , has a logia DF , unique fight style makes him look much better .
If Fuji was not a admiral everyone would be saying how powerful he was but we know that is how admirals are so it's the norm .
Sabo is unkown but we knew he was going to be strong so he gets hype more .Truth is Fuji has a chnace to be best admiral of them all because his back ground should be diffrent from the other 3 well until we see the next new one .

None of those men were blind or old. Don't be an ableist, Darth. Check your Marine privilege.

Sabo doesn't need a devil fruit to fight Fujitora.. So we can take that out and still have a fight..

the following sums up what I think about Fujitora.
When comparing him to the other admirals:
sakuzaki: Throw giant fists of lava, severally wound Whitebeard, kill Ace, destroy climate of an island
aokiji: insta-freeze Robin and Luffy, change climate of an island, insta-freeze a giant tsunami the size of marineford
kuzan: lightspeed kicks & travel, completely obliterate any and all the supernovae
fujitora: throw meteorites that haven't done shit except maybe hurt some civilians. -

The other admirals have done some impresss stuff but also gotten way more screentime that fuji.
People don't give Fuji enoght credit . -
Fixed it for ya.
woops… indeed you did... thanks !
Also, Andy, although that might be true, Fuji should stop with the friggin' meteors already. It doesn't work on anyone so move on. -
Aw, Sabo feels. I'm glad that got hit upon since it must have been hard on him to be in hiding for all these years - whether by a personal decision or possibly by Dragon's decision.
-
Bad writing having precedence does not change the fact that it is bad writing.
Wiper is an example of secondary characters written badly? It makes it very hard to understand where you're coming from when you imply things like that.
I've never really understood people's dislike for Ace, but I'm thinking the same towards Sabo is even weirder. He's a little more menacing than I might have expected - which appears to be the root of what bothers most people - but other than that, he's bubbly and dynamic, and his past isn't wasted. We got all of that in about half a chapter of a fight scene which was mainly Oda showing off Sabo's fighting style.
All I can really see in anti-Sabo posts is people who are really determined to hate Sabo doing their best to hate Sabo.
Also, recently red the spoilers thread. Holy S H I T did people take Fuji's scene TOOOOO seriously.
No, really, I won't repeat the mantra "we're taking a pirates manga for teens too seriously" cause then we should never have any serious discussion in here, but, really, sometimes I think we've all forgotten that, in its core, One Piece is a comedy. An action comedy, an adventure comedy, with tons of melodrama here and there, yeah, but deep down, it's a comedy, and it's one of the few mangas that have never betrayed that principle by becoming "dark and serious" during its run.
That scene was a gag. It might rub you the wrong way, you might not find it funny, it might be an unsuccessful gag. . .but it's a gag in a comedy manga.
Get over it.
One Piece has a lot of comedic elements, but it is not a gag manga.
One of the most striking things about Fujitora's introduction was his concern over civilians. It appeared to surprise and impress his subordinated and it certainly surprised and impressed me. His clumsiness is kinda funny - his soldiers telling him he should warn them first, him apologising … But it's one thing when he's kind of clumsy and it endangers his subordinates a bit, and another when it puts the civilians, whom he earlier seemed so determined to protect, in danger.
Gags are great and all, but there's a limit to how far they should impinge on (serious) characterisation.
-
you guys shouldn't bitch about sabo's character so much the story is too chaotic for oda to leisurely develop his charater like he did for ace when things have cooled down we will get to know more about him and koala. from what i've seen i don't think he was even ordered here, he probably just came because of the fruit and the chance of finding luffy. Its natural for someone with the fighting strength of an admiral(before and after eating a df imo) to say intimidating things especially when your trying to hold back an army on your own making the troops fear you more than anything will stop them. I'm really disappointed with bastille but i'm not shocked the fact that the wg had to recruit admirals from outside the navy means there was no one worth it which says a lot about the previous fighting strength of the navy. Next chapter should have that coloseum army facing executives but i'm not really interested in theirs fights.
-
woops… indeed you did... thanks !

Still Fuji is awesome IMO he drop meteor on Law and Don without caring , then own Law but it was off panel .
After that he told Don he going to fuck him over and now he fighting the second in command of revs and this is a blind man that doing all of this . -

"On his own"
Him holding down Law isn't impressive in any way, when I already know from later that arc that not only it was two-on-one, but Doflamingo alone is strong enough to off-panel Law with little effort.
One off-screen battle, during which he had a help of the warlord.
Kinda lame, if you are going to point this as some great achievement.
Especially when compared to the other Admirals.
-
Wiper is an example of secondary characters written badly? It makes it very hard to understand where you're coming from when you imply things like that.
Yeah, thought the same about Wiper. If anything, he was perfectly implemented into Skypiea's narrative.
If Dressrosa wasn't so cluttered and filled to the brim with dozens of characters fighting for some panel-time, Kyros would be his equivalent. Goes after the main baddie, takes out named villains with relative ease, his strength is legendary and it's actually a pivotal part of the narrative core of the arc. Too bad he has to share his much deserved panel time with the rest of the hundred characters running around.
I've never really understood people's dislike for Ace, but I'm thinking the same towards Sabo is even weirder. He's a little more menacing than I might have expected - which appears to be the root of what bothers most people - but other than that, he's bubbly and dynamic, and his past isn't wasted. All I can really see in anti-Sabo posts is people who are really determined to hate Sabo doing their best to hate Sabo.
As Daz pointed out, Ace was actually really goofy during both his introduction and his cover story, while still being legitimately badass and heroic. During Marineford we had to deal with a much more emotional Ace who totally disregarded his goofier side. On the other hand, that situation was super dramatical; he was forced to watch his comrades fighting to the death because of his hot-headedness, and then even his little brother, who almost died a coupled of times right in front of him. That, added with his absolute helplessness and inability to help made his overemotional moments actually kinda justified.
The Sabo hate, on the other hand, comes from the veeeery little we've seen of him. Since, personality wise, he hasn't shown much (though I found his absurdly made up names he calls Barto pretty funny), we're forced to hate him because he's very strong. Well, wathever.
I admit the way he outmaneuvered everyone in the final fight of the Colosseum + ate the fire fruit + threw a Fire Fist all in the span of 5 pages. . .was a bit too much. On the other hand, his fighting style is very interesting, he doesn't seem that much of an Ace clone, and he showed some emotion, if only a little, during this very same chapter.

It's not a gag manga, but at its core, its confort zone is always "something + comedy". Except Marineford, nearly every arc gives way to tons of comedy. Thriller Bark, the horror themed arc! Filled to the brim with. . .the most comically inept and talkative zombies ever! Farting and burping skeleton! Perverted invisible man! Man hating dish throwing zombie woman! Fishman Island, the super dramatic tale of anti-racism and anti-segregation featuring 5 instances of Sanji nosebleeding in the shape of a mermaid! An old man called Neptune who goes around randomly shouting Neptuuune while riding his "Hoe"! A giant Princess going on aventures by hiding inside the mouth of his pet Megalodon! Goofy (murderous) villains including the guy that's afraid of getting too close to the sun, the underage princess stalking four legged psycho and the guy that gets stabbed, stepped on, kicked and ignored during speeches. . .on purpose! Ennies Lobby, the moment of truth, the catharsis to the most heavily dramatic arc in all of One Piece. . .featuring the sepukku villain that gets trapped in a fridge, Zoro getting handcuffed to Usopp and frantically running away from a wolf guy and a giraffe guy while a girl full of soap bubbles mimics a sheep while turning Nami into a superdeformed character, while Franky tries some Vegetable Juice on him, judge Baskerville acts like a moron and Luffy turns into a little kid every time he uses his newly acquired techniques.
And so on and so forth (PH with its body change shenanigans, the climax of Dressrosa being an involuntary joke face by Usopp, the entire Davy Back Fight, Gaimon and his island, Impel Down's "fearsome" beast guards. . .). I honestly feel that One Piece is too attached to comedy not to include it in its definition. "Action-adventure-comedy". 33% each.

good chapter. dragon claw!! what was the deal with sabos mini flasback? fujis retarded dropping that meteor and its boring now too.
the ending was unexpected with doffy. where'd he come from?? he take out the ones gaurding the entrance? aww. i wonder if thats a string clone or not? i found it weird how they went into a well. like its for plot reasons and to hold them up. laws opening up more. its cute. did he just stop giving his cora talk all of a sudden? eerrrrgghhh

Truth is we do know a fair amount of Sabo since we had that flashback with him , luffy and Ace .
personality wise it don't look like Luffy or Ace chnage much from the flashback so i expect the same for Sabo five or take a few things. -
i want to see a flashback of sabo
the day after the exection of ace -
There isn't any sense of danger left in this arc.
Even now, with Dofla trapping Luffy and Law. Give me a break. First they are going to talk a little and we'll have a flashback maybe, then Mizu-Luffy is going to hold off Dofla a little, then the fight will be broken off for some reason.
Hopefully the situation becomes more tense.
-
Great chapter.
Sabo is awesome. Can't wait to see his flashback.
As for Bastille being defeated, as someone who don't believe that the VA rank is supposed to be huge deal, I'm fine with him being defeated easily by someone as strong as Sabo.
I'm not so sure about what happens in the end of the chapter. The obvious thing would be that Dofla set up a trap with the Funk brothers help but it seems too obvious to me. We'll see what happens next.
And we still don't know the whereabouts of : Jean Ango, Bellamy, Burgess and some D block fighters. -

Bro, chill. Im sure it will become hella more tense once we find out what Dofla really is as a person. He's toying around, he obviously doesnt really care atm. Just give the arc time to get out of this chaotic epicenter first.
-
Im so glad Sabo kept some of his old fighting style and is not just spamming fire abilities now. His combat style is unique and really cool.
-
Awesome chapter; I wonder who all is going to be on the cover. It is always great seeing Jinbei though. So Sabo is Admiral-Level; guess I should not have been surprised though. Fujitora has got to stop with the meteors so much; it was awesome at first, but now its getting old (what was it supposed to do to a logia anyway). And Doflamingo breaks yet another villain cliché by getting things done around the battlefield instead of just sitting in the lair and underestimating the enemy.
-
Thank you for deliberately ignoring the part of the question that was inconvenient for you…
"On his own"
Well, that's what I get for trying to help. I guess there's no pleasing you eh!
Especially when compared to the other Admirals.
So we should compare an Admiral versus a group of Supernovas, or a bunch of emotionally distracted WB pirates… to an admiral fighting against warlords and seasoned haki users?
well, at least Fujitora got to deal with the Doflamingo fodder in the bar at the start of the arc
