We need that Bakuman parody with Oda and Togashi. Does anyone have it?

There are broken image links but it will do. Thanks man!
Also, i googled Naoko Takeuchi out of curiosity and man, she's beautiful. Maybe that's why Togashi stopped. He has a great series, is a millionarie, has a beautiful wife…maybe he thinks his luck's maxed out and if he works again a meteorite will fall on his head.
-
So who do you think will be in team the adventure will start with? I think first portion won't be in Dark Continent at all, preliminary stuff going on, maybe a glimpse at mutilated first wave, only around the 10th chapter Gon will appear, happily lolloping among adventures until he hears about WHOLE NEW WORLD TO EXPLORE KID! Then it's probably going to be Gon and whoever he will latch on to get into the continent. My dream is Gon and Hisoka, with someone new joining them right before the second hiatus (that's right, this batch about anyone but Gon - break - new stockpile with Gon - second hiatus). That would be fun. The other guys can appear anytime later, all they need is reason to get there.

@Rob:
LOL @ the "the series is actually going to continue for any significant amount of time and go places" fanwanking we have to put up with.
You really think the Dark Continent arc won't happen? You really think that after all the chances Togashi had to pull a YYH-ending on this, he will suddenly do it now? The hate for Togashi in this thread is so blind. Half of you refuse to admit that this series is going to keep on going as it has been for the last 7 years, and you refuse to let fans be happy about it. HXH isn't ending till Togashi is done telling his story. You all have no support in your argument that this thing will randomly end. We have 7 years of precedent showing how Togashi approaches serialization for this.
But please, keep moaning about the same **** over and over and over and over

Other than his previous hit series.
And the nonsense that was Level E.
And the multiple deus ex machina endings to the ant arc followed by the multiple dues ex machina rushed endings of the election arc.
And the six or seven times he's randomly stopped over the last decade.
And that the preview of the upcoming launch is only scribbles.
We have 7 years of president showing how Togashi approaches serialization for this.
With completely random amounts of chapters followed by random ever lengthening amounts of break and declining art quality from a creator who is only getting older and clearly losing his drive and passion to produce.
But please, keep moaning about the same **** over and over and over and over
All Togashi needs to do is prove us wrong.
We like the series, thats why we're so frustrated by it. If we just hated it no one would give shit about it coming or going.

*precedent
And yeah, he spent 7 years writing this. 7 whole years to a single arc essentially with a small number of chapters when looking at all the factors as well as the situation where he's getting older, has money, maybe wants to quit the story and move on to something else, and the splendid anime adaption is quickly catching up, and it's highly doubtful, by precedent, that Togashi will do the chapters on a weekly basis simply to satiate the anime.
And if you're talking about precedent, we do have YYH as precedent as well. The fact is that, even if Togashi does produce some good work, he certainly does not display a strong drive and passion for the product he's putting out, even and especially compared to when he started out the story. We have much more precedent that he will not develop a fleshed out dark continent story or something really stepping up Gyro's game as a major player than we do for it.

When you consider the ant arc started in 2003 and went until 2006 with the first hiatus… So depending on how you want to count it, its anywhere between 7 and 11 years between starting that story and then moving onto the next one.
Even without the breaks it was overlong.

I don't need your actual math!
Really I was just too lazy to do it myself :I
But yeah, it was a pretty damn long arc, and retrospectively looking at it, it's relatively easy to run through in volumes, but (well, I wasn't around for this but I've heard a lot), it'd be dreadful to wait for this arc to finish up, expanded even moreso with the hiatuses between chapters.

bet still on? i'm going for 30

–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I honestly don't get why anyone is talking about the Dark Continent like it was the New World. New World was foreshadowed for like two to three years before we finally got to it. Dark Continent was pulled out of Togashi's ass in the last chapter. I guess we technically had two years of waiting for it but only because Togashi refused to get off his lazy ass and do some work.
-
you guys…
togashi could have ended this after ant arc (as many have said, chapter 339 would have made for a good ending). but he didn't. instead he even introduced a whole new world that took the series to a completely different direction.hxh could randomly end in the future like yyh, it's possible, but not so soon considering recent developments in the manga (and i certainly did not worry that i would never see chapter 341 published)
-
Nobody expected Togashi to go on hiatus forever. Nobody.
However, he's spent an excruciating amount of time not publishing with little to show for it other than continuously degrading art. This isn't like Berserk where there's generally a rhythm and sense and actual effort shown through the work.
The point we're generally saying is that, even if he comes back to continue the arc, inevitably there are many plot points that will probably end up being unresolved by the end of the manga or will not have been fleshed out well. As previously discussed, the chimera ant was a long amount of time, and for Togashi to pen another arc of that length over the same time frame or for fans to wait that long for what will amount to scribbles?
Here we must address:
-Gyro
-The Dark Continent
-Beyond Netero and his whole schtick and his origins
-Pariston and his whole schtick
-Kurapika and the spiders
-As a subset to that, Chrollo exorcising Kurapika's Nen
-How Killua will end up taking care of his all powerful sister (unless he gets written out of the story)
-Something else for Gon to be able to do in terms of abilities, as the whole jajanken thing might be running dry.
-Something for Leorio to do, unless he's placed in medical school so that line might as well be closed.Among others, but if Togashi's general pattern with this holds, he doesn't seem too excited about doing another in depth arc, nevermind a few others to wrap up these plot lines. The series has been running for (technically) 16 years now, and half that time was invested in hiatus. Sure, he can go and do another arc, but how invested will he be? Will he try to use this current batch of chapters to tie up some of the more major loose ends? Or will he just be setting things up so he can semi continue things as the same abysmal pace?
As Robby previously addressed, it'd be fantastic if Togashi proved us all wrong, as we generally enjoy the product. But there is a very good reason why many people saw the recent announcement with both disbelief and immediately guessing how long it would be til Togashi takes another break. Togashi has, for all the power and sway has over WSJ, become a laughing stock in spite of the quality output he may be capable of outputting.
-
Do not forget the foreshadowing of Killua's other family issues, including a possible betrayal of Gon, him ending up as an assassin for a short while again, etc.
-
It seems like he's pretty much completely cut himself off from his family at this point, especially with the point of taking care of Alluka, so I don't really see that in the works, especially after all the character development he's gone over the arcs.
Of course, maybe something will happen to Alluka or something, who knows, seeing as Killua has literally unlimited power while she's around.
-
Didn't he want to arrest his father very early on ?
Also Silva seems like he expected everything that happened to him, or in other words this is how he wants him to grow up.
Dude has a long term plan, now if only Togashi would care enough about that but eh…
-
I'm personally satisfied with what we've gotten from Togashi. If the series never continues I wouldn't mind. He gave us a bunch of great mashed potatoes, and anything else he puts out from this point on is just gravy. Personally, the only plotline I strongly want to see more of is Kurapika and the Spiders. @Purple:
Seeing as Killua has literally unlimited power while she's around.
My sincerest desire is that Alluka's powers have limits we aren't aware of at this point, because I just hate it when literally every problem in a story can be easily resolved, and they aren't.

point taken. he will definitely take another break after a while and the plot probably would have only moved an inch (and by the looks of it we'd probably get lscribbles). but at this point i'm no longer that invested in the manga and have grown apathetic enough over this whole joke of a set-up
in any case i did not follow the discussion on this so am not aware what each person was exactly arguing for
-
Less than 6 weeks till togashis hiatus begins. Yes I see him starting releasing chapters as the actual hiatus from him gaming for years at a time. Even he gets tired of so much dragon quest you know.^^ But togashi is so dedicated to his games that he doesn't waste to much time on taking a break and drawing things for fun, no after just a couple weeks or months he's back behind the console.

Didn't he already finished telling the main story of HXH?!
-
Where's mine ;-; (30 BTW)
Got it.
Guys I've figured out Togashi's master plan: the reason he has been doing hiatus after hiatus all these years now.
The group will head to the Dark Continent and find that it is nothing other than the DEMON WORLD FROM YUYU HAKUSHO. Togashi has secretly been spending all his time meticulously tying together the two worlds and writing backstory for what has happened to Yusuke and company while we were away. Turns out that there's a reason why the psychic abilities revealed near the end of YuYu bore such a striking similarity to Nen. Hunter Association and Spirit Detectives collide in a thrilling uber-manga which features the tournament arc to end all tournament arcs, an amazing cast of vibrant characters with strange powers and a hiatus after 10 chapters.
-

Did he? Kurapica was the star of what was HXH's best arc for a long time and Kurapica's story has still yet to be resolved.
-
"Kurapika is the tragic heroine of the series."
- HxH first series director

Got it.

Dude that would be inappropriate for HxH and YYH but imagine a mangaka doing such a thing.
It would be glorious -

The main plot was about Gon finding his dad which he did . Kurapika stuff barely ties into that .

Do you mean Hanzo?

Well thank you, guys. Now my joke backfired spectacularly lol

So I would like to ask you all, what is at this point your favourite between the hxh manga and the current anime series?
As much as I like the manga wich is able to show more violence, is the source material and if togashi puts effort into it from time to time can look really well drawn, I gotta say I prefer the anime. It has a consistent artstyle, is well animated especially in the really important fights, has great voice acting and music and just the overall way the manga is brought to life puts it for me over the manga right now.^^ And it's not that often that I choose the anime adaptation over the manga series that I really like.
FMA is probably another one where I prefer the anime adaptation. Oh and bleach, because there where actual backgrounds and the fights were better depicted. And I still love many of the openings and soundtrack songs for it.
-
I also prefer the anime to the manga now. It's been a very faithful adaptation of a manga that I love and with all the extras of having really nice animation, great voice acting and some pretty good pacing. I believe The Greed Island and the Heavens arena arcs benefited the most from the anime adaptation as they had a nice quick pace of 3-4 chapters per episode and some really beautiful animation, Gon Vs Hisoka specifically. Those two arcs I enjoyed a lot more in the 2011 anime than I did in either the manga or the '99 anime.
I have also loved the Chimera ant arc so far in the anime and there have been some phenomenal episodes that improved on their respective chapters simply because of the benefits of being an anime. The terrific voice acting and animation really helped immerse me into many episodes, Gon's confrontation of Pitou being a notable example. Also having consistent and clear art has made made scenarios and fights much more clear and easy to understand. For example I don't think I ever knew that Netero and the King's fight took place in an underground tomb! It might just be the constant hiatuses messing with my memory but I don't think I ever picked up on that in the manga.
The anime had it's hiccups early on with censorship and messing around with the source material but I think it's come along way since then, and now I would recommend watching the anime over reading the manga.
-
I prefer the manga, mostly because certain things just worked better there like the whole overnarration, Knuckles ability was also way more entertaining to read about than to hear about.
That said I really really like the anime or at least what I've watched of it. Now I really don't have a lot of knowledge about the business behind it but in my mind there is just no excuse but the production company being very cheap about it or the people in charge being incompetent that makes series like One Piece look like absolute crap.
It's insane to me that HxH the adaption of a series that is on constant hiatus, that as far as I know runs late time in Japan has this level of quality and doesn't seem to have any problems to rake in enough money to run for over a 100 episodes now.
I've long stopped watching the OP anime but yeah I can't help but be a bit bitter about that. I hope the guys that do the HxH anime get other long running cool projects to do in the future. I would absolutely love them to take on something like Seven Deadly Sins or sigh Kenichi. I've been really impressed with the way they seem to manage their animation budget. -
Remember the tall guy who wanted to become a doctor and then kind of disappeared? I liked that guy.
You're confusing yourself with Kubawara of Yu Yu Hakusho that was one of the 4 "protagonists" in the series and was a rowdy loud mouthed guy that had a modest dream but got relegated at the end of the series because the other protagonists were more attractive or bishies…
Oh shit.

Oh shit.
He's talking about Leorio dude, the "Kuwabara" of Hunter x Hunter. The joke is that even the people who are treated as the main cast can hardly get panel time in the series.
-EDIT-
Oh and speaking of, what kind of last name is Paladiknight?
-

Fairly certain that Prismeru was in on the joke.
-
@Purple:
Fairly certain that Prismeru was in on the joke.
Yeah I see that now. Except that I can argue other than the Yorkshin arc, Kurapica, a definite Bishie and part of the main cast, also was barely seen again.
-EDIT-
Well unless we count the side-story.
-
Dude that would be inappropriate for HxH and YYH but imagine a mangaka doing such a thing.
It would be gloriousThats where the Negima author seems to be going with his latest series. And CLAMP does it constantly, its pretty much the entire premise of Tsubasa Chronicle.
And some other authors who have more than one series in similar settings have others guest star eventually. (Gunsmith Cats/Bean Bandit for instance… or the Dr. Slump cameo in Dragon Ball)
-
I mean I know you guys get really annoyed with the hiatuses and the like (I love the manga too so I know the feeling) but don't you guys who are threatening to send bombs to his house and hoping he dies taking it a little too far?
The manga is great and whenever it returns it's a nice treat but come on, can't you find other series to enjoy when it's not being published? Death threats really aren't cool. Especially over a comic.
-
They're obviously just joking about it.
I mean, I don't find it too funny myself but I doubt any of them actually mean what they say.
-

So I used to read HxH before it went on hiatus, and recently decided to watch the new anime, and I've gotta say I'm impressed! The anime has marked me more than the manga did, which is a first for any anime (I normally prefer the manga)
So I have a question: I never finished the Chimera Ant arc in the manga because it was so long, and I'm kinda dreading it in the anime, I'm sure it's good, it just seems long. So can anyone who's watching the anime let me know if it's worth watching ? Thank you in advance ! :D

I can't really decide, for you. I recommend watching a few episodes first to see if you find it worth it.
Personally, I found it a miracle I could sit down to watch any anime. I could only manage it because I watched it weekly.

I think (s)he meant my post:
@Nidhoeggr:If Togashi really ends HxH like YYH I will just call Madhouse and molest them until they promise me they will produce 100+ original content episodes to finish the series for real.
..and probably send a bomb towards Togashi's residence.
Should I make the sarcasm even more obvious by putting big [irony] tags next to it?

Ok, thank you for the advice! I guess I'll keep watching and if I think it's getting slow I'll pick up the manga instead.

It was more meant like "annoying", blame English not being my first language for that bad wording.
Anyway, we have confirmed that CA will end at 135 so I guess we will see the final episode depicting chapter 339 and most liekly parts of 340 at around episode 145?

Speaking of the anime, I don't know if someone brought it up seeing as the episode came out the same day as the announcement, but man, it was absolutely amazing. The way they animated Netero's final bout of malice as well as the Zero hand was absolutely superb.
