Hey guys, I don't know if this is the right place to be asking this, but I want to get into Jojo's Bizzare Adventure. I know my manga reader has parts 1-6, but should I read all 6 parts? Should I watch the anime instead? Does the anime differ from the manga? I'd greatly appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction, thanks.
-
The anime thus far only covers Parts 1-2. Part 3 is coming out shortly in April. More or less for the first series it follows it fairly close besides cutting out some of the less important scenes and a fight or two.

Thanks, so is it only one anime series? Or is the anime split up into two different series?

One series/season for part 1 and 2 together. Part 3, Stardust Crusaders, will occupy an entire season to itself (it's also longer than both of them combined)
-
Okay thanks, I'll start watching now!

2012 anime is a 26 episode series that covers both Part 1 and Part 2. There is are also two older OAV series that adapt Part 3, but they omit stuff and, with the new Part 3 anime starting this April, there's not much point in experiencing Part 3 through those OAVs

Kakyoin PV is out. I think his voice is too deep, his ASB voice was perfect in my opinion.
-
His voice might sound too similar to Jotaro's.
Everything else is perfect, specially the music.

His emerald splash was pretty great, I'll admit
-
Yeah ASB Kakyoin sounds just about how I'd imagine him.
Still, super great animation.
-
It just takes some time to get used to. After watching this trailer multiple times, I'm really liking his voice
-
Besides Joseph and Kakyoin did we get another PV?

there's an abdul one somewhere and we are getting a polnareff one next week

Can't wait for Polnareff's PV, he's awesome. Would love if his Capcom theme were in it.

Araki's character analyses from Jojoniums 1 and 2
! Jonathan Joestar
Struggling with the Burden of Being the First of the Joestars

Although the title is “Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure,” I personally wanted to draw Dio first and foremost. As good is to evil and white is to black, Jonathan and Dio are symbols: Jonathan is only Jonathan because Dio is Dio. As this series would probably continue on, Jonathan would become the ‘first of the Joestars’, so I had the idea that this kind of character would function more as a symbol of purity and gravitas rather than emphasizing his novelty. So, I had a tough time drawing him.
Jonathan as a symbol of righteousness was pretty limiting and a little dull from an entertainment perspective. I solidified his character as I drew, still trying to find my way. Jonathan is reactive [as opposed to proactive] with respects to Dio. But, Dio’s various attacks force Jonathan to find his own path. In a way, Jonathan’s development as a character mirrors the way I created him. Just as Jonathan did not know what path he wanted to follow in life, I too was uncertain as to how to handle him. Perhaps, I, the author, grew alongside Jonathan as he overcame his trials and tribulations.
In Part 1, Jonathan develops a extremely muscular build seven years after Danny dies. The change was in anticipation of the fight with Dio that lay ahead. I felt that he would need (?) a certain hardiness that would allow him to stand up to any beating from that point on. Plus, while Part 1 was running, we were in the midst of the “Bodybuilder Era” where the likes of Schwarzenegger and Stallone were popular. After all, being shot or dropped into a war zone wouldn’t stop Schwarzenegger. I wanted Jonathan to have that kind of presence, visually at least. Plus, it’s the growth of a main character is a staple and a tradition of Weekly Shōnen Jump.
I think I wanted Jonathan’s new physique to have a powerful aura like you see in Karate for Life, like after a warrior had returned from training in the mountains. I enjoyed Karate manga as a child. They were chock full of superpowers and things like one punch to a telephone pole knocking the birds off the lines above or an attempted stab resulting in a bent blade if the recipient was strong enough. At the same time, there are marvelous feats in real martial arts like strengthening punches just with breathing techniques. I wanted to use pictures to illustrate super powers for Jojo, so my depiction of the Ripple Technique came from my fondness for Karate manga.

! Q: Dio and Danny reconciled their differences?
A: For a while Dio insidiously befriended Danny, and then…
It was difficult to draw the Part 1 characters, but it was also like reuniting with an old friend.! Will Anthonio Zeppeli
Mr. Zeppeli’s Mustache Was A Considerable Gamble

Mr. Zeppeli’s* name comes from the rock band Led Zeppelin. To me, they’re the cream of the crop of musicians, so I felt I had to use them when I was naming him. It really is a shame, it’s kind of like cutting a joker right off the bat. So, I had to have that much resolve when I debuted Mr. Zeppeli as a character. Furthermore, the sound is important, of course JoJo, like Jonathan and Joestar, has a lot of J sounds. so I wanted to balance it out with the Z in Mr. Zeppeli even in English lettering. I similarly made sure the sounds weren’t too similar for Speedwagon.
Mr. Zeppeli: Jonathan’s master who teaches him the Ripple and guides him to destroying the Stone Mask. The way I see it, I dig teachers who at first blush seems like the ‘are you sure it’s going to be okay, he seems like he’s just messing around’ kind. Like how in Jackie Chan movies, where it’s like ‘this inebriate’s been drinking, but how is he so strong?’ Same for the teacher in The Karate Kid. With characters like this, it’s what’s on the inside that commands respect. And it’s through this gap you feel his appeal rather than through the superficial or just by appearances. I wanted him to have the image of looking weak but being actually strong, his outward appearance has the aura of a magician and a swindler’s mustache. This mustache is that of the artist Salvador Dali or Osomatsu-kun's Iyami, that type of lineage.
However, especially for a Shōnen magazine, a mustache was a component that required a lot of courage. First of all, it makes him seem older, and shady. I think it would be like this with any type of mustache. But in Mr. Zeppeli’s case, even though he’s a master, he isn’t an old man with a considerable age difference from Jonathan. Plus, he’s the lead supporting role. Perhaps it would make the readers turn away from him. So that’s why it took courage. He is a character that I have not really put out in any of my other works. but I made a decision to put out the “are you sure it’s going to be okay” type i mentioned before. Thinking back, it was a “gamble” or an “adventure” on my part. At the time, I thought, well, it’s JoJo so it should be fine. It’s called Bizarre Adventure after all. And finally for the record, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (Jojo no kimyou na bouken) came out into the world before Bizarre Stories in this World (Yo ni mo kimyou na monogatari). I wanted to emphasize that.
*Araki only uses honorifics on Zeppeli in his signature on the original manuscript.

! Q: That orb on his cane can’t possibly be…?
A: A steel ball from Steel Ball Run You can’t have Zeppeli without a top hat. And when the diamond pattern is curved, it looks 3D and is in a nice form. -
Who knew that we were this close to a mustache-less Zeppeli.
Risky mustache

Just finished Part 3. Wow.
It was a much longer trip than the previous 2, and I really loved it. Bit unsure when there was suddenly nine more enemies to fight, after we had just ploughed through the near full deck. But, of course the fights were good enough to ignore these complaints. (I was biting my nails at D'Arby the Gamer.)
I was sooo pissed when Abdul was revived, he didn't even get anymore fights, and actually died again. Such a waste.
And The World, the trick to end all tricks, was beaten by "actually your hax doesn't work on me,and I can use your hax as well"? I can't believe it. And to top it off, they went all DBZ on us with all these mid-air battles.
I had somewhat of a slight dissatisfaction about the ending, but then I listened to The Beatles' Get Back, and then it suddenly doesn't matter anymore. Eager to read part 4, but…I have so many other things I need to read!
When does Jojo become a seinen?
Edit: I don't mind Dragon Ball style fights, just expected something clever to top off the many puzzles. -

When does Jojo become a seinen?"Officially", Jojo becomes a seinen somewhere in the middle of Part 7.
The resolution to the final battle with Dio might not be particularly creative, but it's so satisfyingly badass.
If you want creative fights though, Part 4 has lots of them, so get to it. -

When you do read p4, make sure to read the updated translations by the Invincible Trio and not the old one by accident. Just a heads up.

It's on Batoto, right?

Why shouldn't he read DUWANG? I think both versions are necessary for the full pleasure experience.
-
You should read Duwang with your mouth. And untranslatable

Everyone needs to experience duwang at least once.

One day until Polnareff's PV, I have no idea where the video will be posted now that youtube has banned the Warner Anime channel for whatever reason.
-
Polnaref is Sanji's VA isn't he?
Turtle Sanji in 2-3 years!

They set up a new channel already. I don't have the link for it atm, though.
Anyway, I hope the next Jojolion chapter (that is supposed to have color pages) will reveal more about the anime. I need to know the OP, ED and composer already. -
Here's the new channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcjqSFXBg2cGQg5r0YooMiA
They'll also post it on the main site when it's time

This the most weird, fascinating and unique anime I've ever seen.

-
Awesome.
So uh, any word on a Jotaro PV next week? Or are we just going straight to waiting the last few weeks for the start?
-
We might just get a full trailer next week during the event on the 22nd, but nothing's been confirmed except that the cast will be there
-
I'm not sure if I really like this guy as polnareff's VA. I liked Hirata's "kondo no kensabaki wa douda" better, but I didn't think he fit polnareff either.

This reminds, how did that scene where J.Geil is standing in the rain make sense in context of his actual ability? What part of his Stand power shields from the rain?

It makes Araki levels of sense.
And nice trailer by the way, I love the OST.

Ad-hoc explanation time! What if…whenever J. Geil's stand moves to a new reflection, the reflection object's inertia is decreased slightly? So J.Geil just sent his stand through every raindrop around him at the speed of light, causing them to stop moving. Yeah.
-
Someone on tumblr posted links for the digital colored versions of all the volumes of the first seven stories of Jojo, and I was wondering if there was a thread to post the colored versions of other mangas, or if anything found was posted here along with the OP volumes?
Anyway, here´s the link http://ositanopolis.tumblr.com/post/79562838211/jojos-bizarre-adventure-arcs-1-through-7-in
Just thought I'd share this here. These are the official colored volumes released by Shueisha digitally.
-
Yup, and also, if anyone knows where I can find the volumes to download for other mangas with colored versions, lemme know (excluding OP and Jojo as I already downloaded the volumes that interested me)
-

He had another partner at the time who had an oddly specific power of creating invisible floating umbrelas!
-

His Stand was emerging from his body through the top and the rain was dripping off his Stand rather than his body?
-
@Bond:

Ah… but you see... not only is Hanged Man one of the fewer Stands that don't actually work that way, but Polnareff would likely be able to see the stand body over him (or maybe he wasn't a Stand user at the time?) and also something so obvious would probably not be played up as a mystery.

I think most of us assumed that Hanged Man only exists in reflections. But what if, it can also materialise in the real world like any other regular Stand? After all, when moving between reflections, it has to be in the real world for a time (the reason Silver Chariot could cut it).
It'd be like, J.Geil: Hanged Man! Hanged Man appears around him Attack! Hanged Man enters the nearest reflection -

He was born with his stand. Or at the very least, he had Silver Chariot when he was a little kid.
