Exactly, the only real connection that 4kids had to Nintendo was the Pokemon franchise, as we all know, they dropped the license.
Actually in terms of gaming, the ones there in cahoots with now is Microsoft and the whole XBox360 brand (i.e: Viva Pinata).

jk, but in the last SJ One Piece anime highlight, they had three pics of Chopper fighting Merrychristmas, and even had the caption "Chopper Steals the Show (as usual)" No mention that Usopp is the one who got Merrychistmas slammed, and had his skull cracked fighting alongside Chopper.

Dialogue…I know that OP characters don't tend to change clothes too often, but it's Dub Piece, it doesn't make any sense as it is. Um...I tried editing out the cigar again of course, luckily we can't see any on Paulie's shirt. I also made Califa's earring purple cause the red looked like a drop of blood ^^ 4Kids changes a lota stupid things..

The violence bit isn't what the people in this thread are arguing strongly in favour of, though; they're definition of a "better dub" includes straight-face acting like in Naruto; just by looking at One Piece, I can already say that dialogue/delivery of that sort is a BAD juxtaposition for Western audiences. It would be like Tom and Jerry or the Looney Tunes participating in a presidential debate.
that is why I think a "good dub" will fail, not because of the removal of 4Kids puns/edits. If OP looks like a cartoon adventure/comedy, SELL IT AS SUCH; don't try to pass it as Shakesperean literature.

Here's the thing, while I'll admit that OP certainly has it's more 'mature' elements, there's one thing to keep in the back of your head regarding the animation in Japan, it's also silly.
Is it 4Kids silly? Hmmmm, maybe, maybe not. I have not watched more than a small handful of dub episodes but most of the silliness I've seen is in the form of puns, strange explanations and endless dialogue during moments of what were originally silence. Please allow me to briefly address them because they do have a purpose.
With respect to puns, yes they're silly and childish. But OP is overflowing with puns and double meanings. Just take a look at Zoro's moves on my site. Those kind of gags are constantly running and Luffy is a huge source of them. Even though they fall flat on their face as a result of poor writing, I respect that they at least attempt to continue the spirit of the show.
Strange explanations are unavoidable with censored dubs. You're gonna get the so-called 'next dimension' crap when people are dying left and right but are restricted by the ratings. And when you bring something over from another country there's no time for a culture lesson in the middle of the plot so as idiotic as it seems, there is no choice.
And the superfluous dialogue is something we learned about way back when DBZ first aired and fans (me) were pissed that during the moments of silence when mouthes were clearly not moving, the dialogue was still dragging on. This is done for the benefit of the voice actors. Voice acting may be a celebrity status gig in Japan, but unless you're that fat chick that does every girl dub voice ever or work for a quality team like Ocean, voice acting sucks balls. The extra dialogue is so the actors can make some cash.
Someone also mentioned that cartoons aimed at kids don't neccessarily need to be poor. I agree totally. The WB cartoons of the 1990's were absolutely amazing. But notice something else, outside of Batman, how many Tiny Toon action adventure playsets were there? How about Tazmania spinning Taz dolls? My-Size Dot dolls? The 'Saturday Morning' crowd has done a complete 180 for anyone paying attention. If you're in your 20's this should be unfamilliar because we grew up with this same crap. He-Man, Transformers, Dino Riders, Ghostbusters (not to be confused with the Real Ghostbusters), etc. all of these programs and far more were launched SOLELY for the purpose of selling toys. The idea for the toys was in the bag before the show even began production. These days it seems to have reverted back to this idea that cartoons make great vehicles for sales.
Is there anything wrong with that? No, whatever it's business. But it does mean the quality of what we get will suffer somewhat with the restrictions in place these days that weren't in place in the 80's.
