I had a question on something: Does Nami say she's figured out the general weakness of CP9? And if so, does that mean her detected weakness was catching them off-guard (as I think a lot of folks here have suggested)?
Chapter 411 "Nami vs. Calipha" Discussion
-
-
I think she was just referring to the fact that she can wash off the shiny effect with water, so the golden hour attack won't work on her anymore.
-
hey zero chan.. Thanks a lot for the spoiler in your avatar..
Isn't there a rule preventing this?
-
Meh… I hate sanji for being so passive all the time x_x; He was like that in Sky Island already... unconscious.
But at least Chopper threw that bathtub on him, so the soap will be washed away. Now I'll just hope that he wasn't crashed by it x_x
-
yay .. you are all supaaaaa
-
wo0t! thx for this chapter! nami is sooooo ****
-
Ooo, so the first half of the next chapter is gonna be some pwning and then we finally get to check in on the Zoro/Soge fight. Yay, can't wait. But then again, we always say that every time a chapter come out…
-
Wasn't chopper looking to jump down to where sanji is?. Also this form seems to last for much longer than I anticipated I thought it would be 3x3 seeing as he took 3 each lasting 3 minutes.
-
It's interesting that the Buster Call wasn't mentioned even a bit in the last 2 chapters!!
-
@Faaip:
It's interesting that the Buster Call wasn't mentioned even a bit in the last 2 chapters!!
I was kind of surprised also; I thought Oda might do what he did with Arabasta and Skypiea (Main Street Fight, Zoro vs. Mr. 1, Winner: Zoro; and the amount of people whowere left in Eneru's survival game). "Twenty four minutes until buster call" or something.
-
i think it's cool that he didn't mention it.. we tend to forget it and then one chapter bam! it comes and destroys that island! I suppose it adds something more to the dramatic effect
-
That would make sense, and didn't someone say that the buster call would be arriving in around tihrty minutes, not in exactly thirty minutes?
-
I like the fact it hasn't been mentioned also. But what intrigues me is will choppers form last until they arrive. Maybe next chapter it will get a mention just after nami finishes kalifa (hopefully) seeing her rush off with the key get it to the guys their fight begins seperately and luffy gets a mention.
-
@Mr.:
That would make sense, and didn't someone say that the buster call would be arriving in around tihrty minutes, not in exactly thirty minutes?
It's hard to tell if the thirty minutes is in reference to the departure of the task force from the Naval Headquarters (which means that they're going to use whichever Vice Admirals are closest; that might require them getting some people from Mariejoa depending on the number on hand) or if it's the task force arriving at Enies Lobby. Considering that they need to crew and ready the battleships to sail, there's a good chance that the thirty minutes is how long until departure.
The fact that the people in charge were caught totally off-guard by this, and, more importantly, think that it's Aokiji himself issuing the request seems to suggest that Aokiji didn't bother mentioning this arrangment with Spandam to anybody; he may well have intended that Spandam never use the Buster Call as anything more than a bluff.
Whether or not the Buster Call task force is dispatched depends on whether or not Aokiji shows up before it leaves.
On another note, that hook cake is sticking in my mind for some reason. Did Goldenweek break them out of prison to celebrate Crocodile's birthday?
-
So the fighting with CP9 will end in about 12-15 chapters. or could take longer if Luffy and Lucchi are separated and the final battle takes place somewhere else.
After that comes the Buster Call and after so much fighting i hardly think that they will face that "invincible" all destroying force. -
Maybe Aokiji will intervene (thus preventing the destruction of Enies Lobby) but then he will take command and chase after the SHs (so-called "Buster Call arc")
-
whoah….. nice chapter!! thanks BF and thanks for the trans ooshi
apparently Chopper is 'just' passing by.
such a cool fight between Nami and Califa..... I really like chibi Nami btw hehhehee. but I don't think Califa will go down with just one shot. maybe we'll have another finishing shot then we'll continue to Zoro+hana arashi
and poor Choppy, he looks very tired there.... -
I really wonder what Monster was smelling that got his attention. Is is either a) a cigarette light up by Sanji after being washed or b) the other zoans that must be close to him? Hmm… :hm:
-
It would be neat if Chopper attacked Kaku and Jyabura, but hopefully he would leave Jabura for Sogeking to finish off.
-
Seeing as how Calipha just got him, I think the last thing he'd wanna do is get in the way of the other Zoans.
-
No, but an animal vs. animal battle would be cool.
But Sogeking has to have a good fight. -
Sooo good! The only certains now are that Sanji is actually in better condition after getting smashed by a bath full of water (:laugh:), and that that #2 key will be coming soon! BRING IT ON, BABY!
-
Seeing as how Calipha just got him, I think the last thing he'd wanna do is get in the way of the other Zoans.
Though it doesn´t seem as if the Rankyaku did much harm to him. I actually doubt that the Rankyaku influenced Monsters actions a bit. I think that even with out that move everything would have developed as it has.
Besides, if Kumadori couldn´t own him I have serious doubts that Kalifa´s moves would have a bigger impact on him. Kaku and Jabura are a whole different level of Rokushiki users, that could deal with Monster though.
-

Hmmm, well, still, if it was a physical fight like between Zoans i think Chopper would be able to atleast suffice. Califa's douriki is extremely low so i dont see how Chopper would ever be able to lose to her in a physical match after KOing Kumodori like that… However, whether he is smart enough to face Califa's devil fruit powers is totally another story. (though Chopper is still smart when he's serious)
Dont get me wrong though, i dont support the idea of Chopper fighting the other Zoans at all... that would just result in a LOT of plot holes. -
I think now that Califa will beat on Nami pretty bad in the next chapter, and eventually defeat her.
But Sanji, who will have had his soap washed off from Chopper throwing a bath at him…..will intervene and be the one to defeat Califa, thus iniating character development. -

That entire post sucks –I mean Nami's winning right now, she shows no signs of losing to Calipha that weren't present at the beggining of the fight.
Sanji KOing Calipha would do nothing, it'd waste the last few chapters Nami spent fighting Calipha, and we all know he could do it if not for his moral code.
Plus, Calipha's hurt from this fight already, so having anyone else beat her at this point proves nothing.
There's so much wrong with this idea! Regardless of how much you like/dislike a character (in this case I assume Calipha and Sanji) these developments wouldn't make sense.
-
Here's what I'd really want: I would like a chapter that remained awesome without giving me a panic attack from wondering what's in the next chapter. This constant tension CANNOT be good for me.
But then again, it's a fun way to go….
-

Agree, lately since the bath dropping in sanji's direction there's been a revival in the ''sanji needs to own someone elses fight''. To be honest no offense but I would love if oda had an irony trip and made chopper kick him out of the water's path or it somehow avoided him…... just for a laugh.
Honestly i'm glad it looks like sanji's revival is soon but I wouldn't think less of him if he hadn't another fight this arc. I think the most focus should be on robin.
-
Just an off-topic question…is the whole Puffing Tom shit considered part of the Water 7 arc or Enies Lobby?

hmm anybody think that it's going to have to be usopp to calm down chopper? chopper hasn't really seen anybody familiar since his transformation. he saw franky but doesn't really know him and nami was disfigured from the soap so she wasn't really familiar. maybe the person he is smelling is usopp and is going to investigate. usopp is probably the one crewmate chopper likes the most and usopp is probably going to have to take off that mask to calm him down. it would be great if chopper calmed down and then usopp gave him orders and he started fighting against jyabura or kaku. that way nami deliver's the keys to usopp and zorro and doesn't have to worry about kaku or jyabura killing her as soon as they see her. with that said i expect choppers monster effects to wear off in a couple of minutes. jyabura and kaku are strong enough and probably fast enough to dodge choppers attacks until the rumble ball effects wear off.
-
That's my thought, too. Soge King's mysterious secret identity will finally be revealed in an attempt to quell Monster Chopper's fury.
-
Yeah, it would suck if Chopper stole Sogeking's fight.
Hehe, I notice how with this arc there's been much talk about the stealing of fights… -
I want to see Usopp ride on Choppers back, like he did with the giants, shouting orders and being awesome.
And I want Chopper to take him to the top of the tower, in the movie parody we all want to see. -
Shouldn't that be Nami?
And then we could flash to the real world, where we see Oda screaming, "Peter Jackson-san!! Get away from my drawing board!!"
Now I wanna see Jack Black in anime form!OT: It would be cool to see Usopp ride Chopper (in a different way, not like their drunken one-night stands), but I still desperately want to see Sogeking/Usopp take out an enemy ALL BY HIMSELF. He hasn't done that since Arlong Park!
-
We-ell, he did fight Luffy one on one, but you said "take out"…And personally, I'd find it ten times more hilarious if Usopp was the damsel in distress
-
Oh, but of course. Chopper's been hiding his love for Usopp ever since Alabasta…and yes, kicking Luffy's ass (almost) was a HUGE step for his character. But hey, you can't kill the man who took on god.
-
im liking this arc a lot, however im just a little dissapointed that the cp9s are going down so easily. It seems all of them were so full of thir superiority complex that they just didnt really fight that seriously, except maybe kumadori: the guy put up quite a fight until chopper went ballistic on him. Heck , if Sanji wasnt so stubborn about fighting women and his hits actually landed, the calipha fight would have been over a lot quicker i think.

You think they're going down easy? Only two are down so far. Fukurou took like 3 chapters and Franky's strongest attack.
Oh yeah, Blueno, well he got taken down by Luffy's Gear 2. Well, it's kind of like a precurser to his fight with Lucci.
And thanks to that douriki thing, well know that only the weaker CP9 are out right now.
-
Two?? Try four.
Luffy –> Blueno
Franky --> Fukurou
Chopper --> Kumadori
And possibly Nami --> Cailfa -
@IT'S:
Two?? Try four.
Luffy –> Blueno
Franky --> Fukurou
Chopper --> Kumadori
And possibly Nami --> CailfaCalipha's not guaranteed down yet, not until we see her fall down in the next chapter. She "might or most likely is defeated" but it's not guaranteed.
And I tried to point out that I forgot Bluneo, so yeah, 3 of the 7.
-
It does seem that the agents of CP9 are somewhat full of themselves. The only ones who haven't played around with their enemies are Jabura (self-professed preference for getting the job done and over with) and Kumadori (who was sincerely attempting to finish his enemis quickly) and Blueno (Least I don't remember him playing with Luffy much).
The only excuse the CP's who have played around have is that (most of them) have already beaten the Straw-Hats. Quite easily. But even so, their playing around does seem to be a rather chronic error of theirs.
-
Well, all villians, anime or whatever, are always full of themselves. If they weren't arrogant, how would we hate them? Also, it's more enjoyable to have Luffy pound a stuck up jerk of a Lucci into dust than a Lucci that is nice and humble.
But if you think about it, CP9 members aren't really cut out for the Grand Line. I mean, what can they do against a logia user? They have nothing but physical attacks. I wonder how they managed to stay this successful…
-
I think the main goal of CP-9 isn't to kill powerful people, but to kill people that the government shouldn't kill. Going undercover and using their power to assassinate people without real cause (getting in the way of the government) is more suited for that then powerful people. Though having Rokushiki helps against powerful opponents, but from the way they were used they obviously aren't meant to take down pirates even if they need to from time to time. Also, logia users probably aren't lurking around every corner. I'm not going to comment about who they can and can't beat to avoid a Crocodile vs Lucci debate in this thread. >_<
-

Realistically, we haven't seen a quality Logia defeating strategy. At best we have individual Logia stoppers (Luffy v. Ener), but no overarching "this will let you play in their league" skill. The only real foolproof Logia strategies I could see would be to be a fishman and never lift your head over water, or possibly a full-body seastone armour.
And to your other point: Aside from DF powers, virtually every OP character is physical-attack based. Only Krieg, Nami and Goldenweek (and minor characters with guns, perhaps Wiper the most significant of them) made heavy use of a fight skill which had no major physical-power component.
-
^Point duly noted. Yeah, there hasn't really been any sure fire way to beat logias. But by physical attacks, I meant that CP9-ers seem more like brawlers than refined fighters. They've learnt some awsome martial arts, but can't use it efficiently, like how Croc told Luffy that he wasn't using his DF abilities properly.
-
They can't use it efficiently? What makes you say that?
-
Guys, 5 CP9's are potentially down. Don't forget Nero.
Anyway the fiths have been fun, actually. Calipha I guess will probably take another chapter but I'm happy with how it is now. I'm just waiting for the "main event" fights, Usopp Zoro etc.
The truth of the matter is I always just like the beginning of an arc better than the end of an arc, no matter how awesome it is. So I'm gonna enjoy the fights, but really I can't wait for it to all be over and the next adventure to begin.
-
but in op as far as i see , even every logia has their weakness enel and croc , or in luffy's case he can bounce bullets but not sharp things like swords so i guess this must make them see their weakness and by taking precautions they can make their Df power to it's limits like how Luffy started gear after getting beatan by Lucchi. And I really wish there could be some ChopKing vs Sanji part cause if this keeps up , ChopKing will eventually kick Lucchi's ass. So there won't be any Luffy vs Lucchi.
-
Actually, Luffy invented his gears after Ao Kiji almost turned him to diamond dust. I find the Chonster vs Sanji likely because he doesn't really have a fight, but it might also not happen because then Chopper would have his second fight. I think that Chopper will keep on his tower climbing and reach the top of the tower, then he will fall with the tower to the other side of Enies Lobby and finally pass out.
Sanji also might go and Spandamise the gate of Justice by beating the utter crap out of him and crushing his face, making him be in pain when the buster call comes and blows the shit out of him.
-
I'm telling you: Frankfried is a rokushiki user. My arguments are as follows:
- Usopp, by sheer narrative justice, needs to win against a major bad guy
- He was introduced for SOME reason, and nobody else is currently free
- It is in Sanji's character to, once he finds out Nami is safe, ignore everybody and run straight to help Robin, where Spandam is…with Frankfried.
So I say Frankfried is Sanji's fight.
