^Feeling the same about this.
Seeing Megumi really evolve/being fleshed out in those 50(it's really less since she doesn't appear in everyone of them) chapters from being the "no confidence/wimpy character"(and heck if my image of that archetype isn't damaged by the shit that was the reborn protagonist) to someone that isn't just about that, just makes me really excited to get to all the other characters receiving similar treatment.
I'm especially looking forward to Erina breaking out of her shtick(it's happening albeit slowly I think…?).
It also makes me baffled and depressed about all the crappy series that don't get it that characters no matter the genre are one of the most important things.
It sometimes feels like the authors stopped the characterization after making a quick profile of one. Why have depth when the character can have a gimmick that can be milked over hundreds of chapters(not that doing just that hasn't been successful).
Edit: Also being very focused with the characterization≠gimmicky. If you deal with a large ensemble cast it is smart to be very focused.
