Well , if this gets you to sleep at night then believe it , wouldn't really make a differences since these flaws are really legit and easily can be proven if you just did some research . And Yea , i am arguing here because i didn't like it compare to kids who praise it but hey at least i am not the one who is using words like "psychological" to hide behind my lack of knowledge or any real reasoning other than " it uses big words so it's psychological and great writing " . Trust me, as an English minor, I'm very aware of research in writing, and while every work has its flaws, critiquing it just because you think it's "trying to be edgy" instead of actually hammering what's actually poor with it is in itself poor critiquing.
You know this info could have been shown through the drawing rather than force-feeding us this pointless little details . And you are supposed to learn more about the stuff as the arc goes on , not literally just cramp it into your head for the sake of exposition and dialogue . And do you want me to go into the nen explanation which were pointless as hell and easily forgettable once the arc ends not to mention that it doesn't progress the plot or characters in any shape of form ?! And the constant force-feeding on what is going on through a character explanation ?! Tell me what is the info good for once the arc ends?! They just seem to be there for the sake of character dialogue and content and nothing else .
If anything, the Nen explanations are incredibly important considering how the system works in this manga. This isn't just shooting energy everywhere. There's quite a few tactics that go on, and if it's not shown in text boxes, it'll definitely be shown as thought bubbles. The thought bubbles just help disguise the "tell" part.
As for what we learn from this and the arc, let's see…
Gon meets up with an old friend who was the one who really gave him the nudge to become a Hunter and was a great friend to his father, who happens to be his goal in the end.
Killua has to overcome his fear of a less than 100% success rate in order to protect his first (and one of his only) friends. And he's the one to really notice it when Gon loses it.
Literally everything that was in a text box could have just been said by a character (like Speedwagon in JoJo) or presented as a thought, but then you would have less to complain about even though it's the same thing.
Criticize his shoddy art, sure. His lack of effort in a lot of areas, fine. But simply yelling out "this is just for babies!" really doesn't cut it as criticism. Especially because, even translated, there weren't that many big words in there anyway. Because right now, everyone watching this in Madhouse's fantastic anime adaption is having a roaring time because of the amazing quality which still uses the narration to explain certain little things.
And honestly, I'm not sure what point you're trying to make by saying "Forget this psychological mumbo jumbo it's just a manga for kids" while then going on to say "Only five year olds could praise this"

@HailTheKing:
Not really . Stories are told through drawing , characters actions , character expression and character dialogue .
And he does. But not every story requires every moment of it shown that way.
Now if Togashi showed entire segments of plot as exposition, then we've got a problem. But for smaller moments, it really isn't that big of an issue.
But Instead of letting our perfectly capable mindsfigure out what's going on for ourselves, Togashi force-feeds every littlepointless minute and irrelevant detail to the reader, painfully stretching outthe pacing in the process.
Just because it's capable doesn't mean that every detail needs to be shown. If you notice in certain narratives, certain points will still be brought up by "telling" even though everyone says to "show"
This is a manga , not an article or documentary .
Even documentaries use the "telling" part, but whatever. In any case, to build on a "psychological power", of course you're going to need some explanation to it.
And you're supposed to SHOW personality and character through the actions and dialogue of that character and it's up to an individual to figure out what type of personality the character has through those things . Not literally tell the readers/viewers about them and you are supposed to learn more about their characters through out the series , rather than revealing everything thing about them in one go .
Again, every medium will have certain exceptions to the norm, and not everything was told.
The only thing that really broke the pace was, well, Togashi breaking the pace with his continuous breaks.
