My cousin's boyfriend is the bassist in this band.

From an album that mixes IDM and shoegaze, an interesting combination. It never seems like they even close to completely mix together (because they're so fundamentally different), but the album is still quite a nice journey. It leans heavily more towards the IDM side.

In such a Doors mood right now.

If you like shoegaze this may have slipped under the radar for you. CHECK. IT. OUT. This is not just lazy effects shoegaze, there are transformative songs here that have a real presence.

Words cannot express how much In love this
I was once visited by a man from a far flung future that claimed he had brought back words that were capable of describing and expressing the love I feel for Klaus Nomi. Needless too say I slammed the door, with an appropriate amount of force, in his face.

That was the only rational response. Even these 'words cannot express' statements, or meta statements like this, are not enough to truly convey his greatness.

Listening through some old Turkish psych stuff that I downloaded back when my friend and I were obsessing over our Turkish professor (who is the funniest professor I've ever had the pleasure of taking an exam with a >60 average from).

Yes, no, no, indeed, yes! Only possible way to convey his greatness is in a flaccid attempt to emulate his hairstyle.
How very GKC. :v

Welp, here I am. My 500th post in this thread. Which means well over 500 songs posted in just about two years. That's a lot of music. And to think, about two and a half years ago or so I would have said music wasn't a big part of my life. A lot has changed since then of course. I recently went back and went through all my posts in here, and it was really interesting to see how my musical interests altered over time, the phases I went through, the discoveries I made. It was definitely a worthwhile experience to say the least.
Anywho, just a little retrospect I thought I'd comment on. But right now, this post needs some music. It wouldn't be WAYLTRN without it.

I can't be the only one who gets a Disney vibe from this song.

Shakira was doing something weird with her voice in the first verse, and that personally made me upset; whenever she sings in english, she sings very pitchy and she never just sings normally with the music like she does in spanish.
the last time she ever sung comfortably in english was in Laundry Service; ever since, listening to her sing in english is like listening to someone sing who's trying to mask their accent because their insecure with their new language, so they (or rather her) sometime does this weird pitch thing.
She doesn't seem to really diversify her voice when singing in english as well as she does in spanish. Listening to Ciega Sordomuda, then Tu, then Lo Imprescindible, then Suerte; they all have one thing in common to me; she adjusts her voice perfectly with each song. Her voice sounds incredibly different when you compare all of those songs - and that's good, because the songs are different musically. She manages to make her voice blend in with the background music perfectly.
She almost did it perfectly in this song. Rihanna outshined her in her own single!
So, in the end, all of that makes this song really, really upsetting.

I got reminded of this stupid song twice this week and it sent me down nostalgia avenue to that era where I had to listen to a bunch of variations in true masochistic fashion. Good times.

A piece of advice for any of you that has/will have children or live with their nephews or whatever, never let those guys watch the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
NEVER.
And never watch it if you grew with the Disney cartoons.
NEVER.
