This episode was touching. Mako getting to shine more than just cameo funny parts was amusing too. I really like how Trigger develops characters.
Kill La Kill

Better than expected, liked the second half of the episde. But I hope the change of pace they have been talking about doesnt mean the student council election.
Ryuuko keeps getting pummelled too, so some things never change.

Need some Two-Star Goku Uniform Mako and Jotaro fan-art pronto.

Some people are crazy fast
!

Holy shit, my jaw was gaping when Mako donned that badass outfit and started beating the shit out of Ryuko.
I didn't expect a "Mako Vs Ryuko" situation in the first place (although i guess Mako's signs of corruption did signal a conflict at some point), so seeing it happen this way was an extra (but awesome) shock. One of my favourite episodes so far.

That was a really fun episode. I was definitely expecting Mako to get killed by Satsuki at the very end, but I'm glad we'll still have her around.
Next week's episode… I'm surprised Ira is next! I thought he'd be the last of the Elite Four to fight. Let's hope it's an interesting battle.
-
Awesome episode again.
Next episode:
-
I liked this one.
Not as much as I liked 6 but yeah, it was pretty cool.
-
And after a while, it's already flooding with Makos. I guess these are the best ones for now.
!
This one is on crazy resolution!
And a Elite Four because it's cool!
-
What was the song they played when Ryuko was left alone in the mansion?
-
Very good episode. We got a little glimpse into the mind of Kiryuin, namely her humans = pigs philosophy. I think episode 4 was more fun however.
By the way, Mako's outfit is not necessarily a JJBA reference; at least not exclusively a JJBA reference. The coat hanging over her shoulders, straw in mouth etc. are references to delinquents typically found in banchou manga, which I assume is the look Araki was going for when he designed Jotaro (and to a lesser extent, Josuke). Togashi from Sakigake!! Otokojuku also wore the spiky cap before he did. But the parody fanart is really cool regardless!
-
The elite four flying after Mako punched the ground had me laughing for a good minute.
-
More from the last bunch.

This end of episode, haha.
[hide]Everyone naked ![/hide]One of the best.

Everytime Ryuko tumbles I think, man is rhe gonna cut herself in half with that blade

Rule of anime: If a main character holds a deadly weapon, then he/she is unable to injure themselves with said weapon, even if they fall, trip or stumble.
-
On Ryuko cutting herself while tumbling
Damn it Senketsu, you had one job!
-
This week's Mako-gonna-die conspiracies:
! Note that the episode airs on the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy assassination
This stuff never stops being amusing.
-
And the extended 30 second preview shows
! Gamagoori as the lowest on some pillars, which is probably the general elections. Also, the scooter from the pizza delivery guy in ep 1 is lying on its side inside the hood of the car.
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x17bsc1
! And I just read through the 4chan archive my roommate sent me, and they found more of that:
"15458,4649" means "If I die,I will leave it to you" in japanese.
So many hints. >.<
-
Part of me thinks Trigger isn't going to kill Mako or have her turn out to be Ryuko's Dad's Killer/evil just to mess with everyone's head
-
You guys are breaking my heart here. I want to call conspiracy on this.
-
^ says the guy with a Mako's 2-star uniform gif avatar.
-
This was an homage. Not a memorial T_T
Or, I really do hope! -
I'd love to draw one into my own avatar, but I don't have the skills/drawing equipment. :/
-
Gurren Lagann has made these guys all paranoid. lol
-
On a more positive note, lots of great fan art is being pumped out.
!
-
I fell in love with the first one. DAMN.

Nice episode. Plenty of good flashbacks. Seems like Ira is gonna be the first to go down. For a bunch of bad guys, you can't help but sorta root for the three stars as well.
!

You know when I first started watching this show I didn't think it would happen but suddenly Mako is my favorite character on this show.
these last two episodes have been really good for her character
Now I laugh a bit more when she starts getting eccentric -
From episode one, Mako has always been my favorite. Then agian, I can't think of much characters I didn't really like… aside from that boring Nudist Beach dude in ep 5.
As for the ep.
Nobody died. Thank goodness.
Gama revealing he is 20 years old was amusing as hell tho. -
This episode made Gamagoori seem so human. I loved it.
-
Wasn't expecting Ira to be a masochist. A bit sad that he will go down next episode.
And Ryuko's dad looks like a character out of a Layton game. -
So Gamagoori's special skill is using bide huh?
-
This episode was really awesome. Glad to see more of Gamagoori. Also, lol at him being 20.
-
The wait for the next episode is going to be a loooong one.
-
but… no naked butt in transformation sequence?
-

I agree, the three-stars we've seen the back story for so far aren't bad people at all, they're just coping in a might-makes-right world by being the strongest badasses around.
It's like the Three Kingdoms of China or the Warring States Period in Japan, where only the strongest can gain anything.Although, that still doesn't explain Gamagoori's fetish 0_o

The only way to cope with the fact that your superior will always be way more badass than you is to take pleasure in it.

Every time I see the elite four on screen together I can't stop thinking that they would make the perfect Pokemon elite four, with Satsuki as the champion. Don't know why, maybe its the similar name or the fact they're so colourful, but it certainly reminds me of Pokemon :P
-
I just really like the Elite Four in general. Their dynamics are great.
-
I dunno if it's just me but I'm finding these developments a tad rushed. Ryuko has yet to really establish herself as a worthy opponent (how many times has she lost now? Four, five?) yet the Elite Four keep propping her up as this big threat to them more so due to the reputation of her Kamui than her physical prowess. her best showing was going toe to toe against Kiryuin which was great but was followed by two major defeats, one where she was absolutely eviscerated by an Elite Four member. Ryuko really needed time to grow in strength and character, the election tournament could have been an opportunity to do just that but instead we skipped all that fighting and jumped straight to the final showdown. It just feels very unearned and makes it hard for me to root for the main character, who I really do like, but she's up against these very powerful, well developed foes who I can't help but feel she's not ready for.
-
Senketsu ate all of those life fibers, so in theory should she be much stronger now.
-
But they were all fodder that Ryuko beat with barely a sweat. You can't really get emotionally invested in the hero journey like that. The only opponent she beat worth a damn was that one elite member which was more due to dumb luck than strength and power. And then she got completely stomped by him afterwards.

Note that Ryuko is finally challenging the Elite Four after 8 episodes. So Pokie.
Also:

-
I find it silly to feel like you'd need boring slow paced battle-manga power progression within a typically fast paced Hiroyuki Imaishi series.
-
The Elite four are really growing on me.
First we had Sanageyama, and now Ira. -
It doesn't have to be boring or slow paced. Hell, one episode focusing on Ryuko's development would have been enough. You can even have it all off screen and focus on something else and then get back to Ryuko and comment on how much stronger she's become, it still would have been sorta rushed and not that satisfying but at least there would be some indication that Ryuko has worked hard to be ready for these guys so you get the feeling that she can win and on her own terms and not just win with just pure dumb luck.
