@Foolio:
Man, people will do anything to trick themselves into thinking there is a magical solution to life.
There is, it's called money.
Anyway, I went to a group today called "SASS", which stands for the "Society for Accessible and Safe Spaces". It's a closed group at UCSB for trans* and gender non-conforming students. It was good, I mean, it was just very refreshing to have a queer group that is primarily focused around trans issues. Usually it's a "gay group" or an "LGBT group" with an implicit (or explicit) primary focus on gay and lesbian issues, so I feel very uncomfortable bringing up trans issues in those spaces, especially if I'm the only trans person there. But at this group, I didn't feel at all like I was drawing too much attention to myself or taking up too much space with issues that were unrelatable to anyone else. Because everyone there could relate to them on some level. It was nice. :)
And to be honest, we didn't have much "serious talk", we mostly just played games and stuff.
But it was so funny! Because after that fun time, the MOMENT we walked out of the Student Resource Building, these guys outside were calling to each other, and one of them was like "Sup faggot!" Perfect TV moment, one of those "so depressing it's hilarious" things.
