Blackbeard being a purely "chaotic pirate" was themetically debunked in Jaya, when BB gave Luffy a speech about deams at Jaya.
Wait, what's the contradiction here? Because there isn't one.
And who said "purely" chaotic. No one is saying Blackbeard is the Joker.
Whitebeard told him to his face with his dying breath that "he was not the one Roger was looking for"
Yeah. Do we need to hold your hand on the thematics being set up there? Because we really shouldn't have to.
BB is a D, he clearly an evil and nefarious individual. But, the thousand year in the making story of One Piece is the D/Ancient Kingdom and the CD/WG.
800 years aint a 1000 lol.
And yeah, that's exactly why the Gorusei don't work as a final villain.
They're a passively antagonistic stagnant neutral evil that has literally just been sitting around for 800 years. Sitting on pandora's box.
Now a bunch of people are gathering who probably more than ever threaten to open the box.
Your vision of the story would suggest that the box is filled with puppies, rainbows, sprinkles, and Donny Osmond records.
That damn well isn't the case. Confirmed as much by the weapons as it is Rayleigh's words about what they found on Raftel.
There's good in that box, there's also bad. Or perhaps more accurately there is potential for both.
The WG suck because they aren't letting anyone take the chance for something greater and risky. Whatever the AK must have been up to.
The risk is what they're trying to stop. And they will be washed away in the events that open that box. But they won't try to harness the things inside it.
Now whoooooo I wonder would be the people sticking their hands in that box of potential? Perhaps maybe two people representing the opposite of the government…but also the opposite of eachother? Hmmmmmmmm. Who would have a thematic duel to decide the new era, the new era the government would have been trying to keep from emerging? Whooooo.
BB could just want to surpass Roger, because he thinks that it's his right as a D and it doesn't matter what he does to acheive it.
Hey, pal. Maybe you're first inclination that this is not the case should have been "Gee, all that set up would really suck to have all that build up for a really shallow idiot character?"
Certainly BB is being build up as a brutal asshole but this might be a set up for the biggest Oda twist of them all…
Yes, the biggest twist of letting the readers down. What a great idea!
