It's still so awesome that they aren't revealing much on the other MUTO.
The only one revealed was the one that can fly. The centipede one is yet to show itself, probably will be saved till the film.Epic line!
"A Monster..?"
"No. A God." -
Play the music; The King of Monsters has returned. :D
Man, I can't wait for this film. X-Men & Spidey will be absolutely awesome films, but it just feels like May is gonna belong to Godzilla!!

Don't sleep on Maleficent either now, but you're exactly right May is stacked and I hope it belongs to the King.

Hmmm…let's see. I think that Spidey 2 is going to make the most money overall, however I feel that Godzilla will be the best movie. Hmmm, in fact let me break it down all the way.
Highest Grossing Movies for May (Total overall Boxoffice)

2. X-Men DOFP

Did I just saw Mohtra?
-
-
Yes, if it is a known monster, then it is probably Rodan.
And this trailer is getting me pumped up!! I was looking forward to it, but now im psyched!
-
Do you really think they'd put in Rodan in the first movie before they even establish the movie as successful?
-
It's not a Mothra. It's not a Rodan.
I think I read somewhere that WB only owns the right to one Toho beast creation and that is Godzilla.
The two adversaries in this film is an original creation by the makers of Godzilla 2014 and they are called M.U.T.O.One is the flying one like we see in that trailer and the other is a centipede one which we don't much know about.
-
A lot of it has to do with the way Toho licenses their characters. If you pick up the rights to, say, Fantastic Four or Spider-Man, you also acquire the rights to any characters from that series. Toho usually won't do that sort of thing but wants people to license each individual character; IDW managed to get a package deal somehow but that's an extremely rare exception to the rule.

So apparently Japanese fans think the new Godzilla is too fat:

Thanks for the link, it gave me a laugh.
Well, he is American.
And that shows in more way than one.
That's the real reason they are poking fun at him being fat, they are ashamed that this Amreican Godzilla is tallest one yet"Even more unfairly, these Japanese fans don’t seem to take into account that the new, Americanized Godzilla is also the tallest Godzilla ever at around 350 feet, and as such his weight is perfectly healthy for his size. Also, they aren’t monster doctors, so Godzilla doesn’t have to listen to them."
I love they humor of the article… I admit it, I'd love to see a fanwork of this=
"Anyway, it’s possible the issue could be addressed more explicitly in a sequel, in which Mothra arrives to fat-shame Godzilla to his face, and Godzilla counters that it’s easy for him to say, because he’s a fucking moth. Flying burns tons of calories."
-
I thought he was a little chubby when I first saw him but I think it'll work.
-
You have my respect, sir.
One line review for each instalment after viewing, pretty please?Thats a tall order, but i think i can manage it. Im currently just finished godzilla 1985/returns, next is godzilla vs biollante.

New clip folks…
IT'S TIME FOR A SHOWDOWN!!!
-
Ooooooooo . . . . . .
Yeah, definitely not Rodan. Looks like a Pterodactyl if anything else. Still not sure how I feel about them DELIBERATELY calling out Godzilla, or at least that's what it looks like.
-
Beautiful. Easily my most hyped monster movie since The Host.
Also
Pacific Rim's No Pulse fits so well with this trailer. -
Rodan with the serial numbers filed off.
-
@Cyan:
Rodan with the serial numbers filed off.
Damn I think this may have broke my snark meter.
-
"Run! It's Rodan!"
"It looks like Rodan, but due to international copyright laws, it's not."
"Still, we should run like it is Rodan!"
"Though it isn't."
-
well we have known about these "muto" as they are called for a while now
the action figures spoiled that

That thing looks like it jumped right out of Evangelion.
I love it.
-
I never thought a FIAT commercial would give the best look yet but…
-
Just goes to show: even Godzilla doesn't have the stomach to put up with Italian engineering.
-
Is this opening this week or next week in U.S?
-
Hahahaha, my roommate showed one of her friends the "Godzilla is fat" article and he said, "Maybe he ate a Walmart."
Sorry, just too funny.
-
-
may 16th I believe
I see, thank you.
'Cause IMDb said 8th but now I see that it's premier. -
Is it too late to jump on the MUTO bandwagon?

The creators' opinion on Godzilla being fat:
http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/05/10/godzilla-creators-hes-not-fat"I just think it's comments like that that give giant monsters an image complex. That's what makes him angry in the first place."
-
4 more days till we…..
Let them fight.
-
Just came back for the screening… and it was great! It is treated more like a serious disaster movie (while Pacific Rim was a fun blockbuster).
And Godzilla is fucking amazing. The movie really does him justice. The king is back and I hope there will be a second one.No centipede monster though.

No centipede? Was there two MUTOs and they looked the same?
-
From the first early reviews I'm reading it says the humans are boring and Godzilla kicks ass, but there's only like an hour of Godzilla.
-
This is shaping up to have the same problems as Pacific Rim from what I gathered from the reviews. In that it tries to inject a lot of human drama with characters that are too flimsy to support it.

Wasn't that also a HUGE problem that pissed off a lot of people in the Transformer movies as well? That too little screen time is devoted to the autobots, the actual stars of the show, and too much screen time given to annnoying people making uncomfrotable masturbation jokes.
Anyways, still excited as hell to see the movie myself.
-
Another movie, another five page rant by TLC about shit only he cares about.
-
No centipede? Was there two MUTOs and they looked the same?
! There two MUTOs: one winged male and one bigger female. They basically have the same design besides wings and differences of proportions… but they are really cool. I suspect the centipede was a thing scrapped during the production as I think I saw hints but I don't know how they would have introduce it without feeling forced so it's fine.
On the human drama and not enough monster reviews, I suspect there will always be critics like that for every kaijuu movie: you can't spend a whole movie on just monsters fighting. Even if I love that, it would be boring in the end (and I don't even consider the budget constraint). Pacific Rim did the monster showdown popcorn movie well. It could have been a bit better and it was really good IMO.
However, don't expect Godzilla to be focused on that same kind of thing. It's more focused on how humans would react in a situation involving the appearance of kaiju.! Basically, they're powerless.
And you live that through the hero and the people surrounding him (family,…) to have different points of view. So the monsters are the cause but are a thing happening in the background during most of the movie: you have no big fights shown properly until the final showdown... even if the monsters have a handful of beautyshots through the whole movie and they completely eat the screen when they're present. Seriously, I love what they have done with the kaijuus!
The characters are not strongly characterized (I don't even know if this word exist u_u) and the rhythm is slow, especially for a blockbuster, but it's fine. The movie relies more on a heavy atmosphere and strong imagery to slowly become apocalyptic. -

How about giving me a chance to watch it before making up your minds that I'm going to hate it? lol

To be fair to Cyan you always seem to come out of a movie with your expectations met, good or bad. I'm the same way. Only difference is I tend to be optimistic about anything I go see in theaters whereas you tend to be more pessimist. It's obviously not 100% true, but speaking in generalities it is.
(I also suffer from, I'm spending $10 on this film, so I better like it disease. The result is I always like things after a first viewing or two. I've gotten better throughout the years, but it used to be so bad that I walked out of Transformers 2 going: "that was so good.")
