I will be slightly disappointed if there were only 70 Pokémon. Dunno, maybe 90 or 100 would be fine along with at least 50 or less Mega-evolutions.
Anyway, whatever happens I'm forward to play a new classic RPG style Pokémon.

Am I the only one who thinks that Black & White Kyurem function exactly like Mega Mewtwo X & Y?
Besides the fact that they are semi-permanent, of course.
it's slightly different. I'll use digimon to explain.
In Black and White 2, we got this:
Now in X and Y, we are getting this:
If the trend continues, in Gen VII you know this is coming:
But I do admit I'm splitting hairs and was looking for an excuse to post the videos
I'm not believing this one bit. Each new generation has introduced up to 100 new species and some like first, third or fifth even surpassed that number. Sixth gen won't be any different, so I'm expecting 100 new species at least.
And don't count the mega evolutions, they won't ever be in the Dex.

How does he feed himself like this?
I'm really loving it, but I still don't think Fairy Type was necessary…
It absolutely was. Dragon types were broken, and poison was pretty much useless. It was less of a thing back then because in Gen 2 Dratini was still the ONLY dragon aside from Kingdra, and even after gen 5 adding like… 10 of them... they're still only at 29. (Ghosts are at like, 27. Very few.)
This still doesn't really fix poison, but it goes a loooong way towards balancing dragons out now that more and more of them are being introduced..

This one is a fake.

I think we should embrace it now. Froakies final evo is going to look like these pictures that have been posted. lol
Yeah, I think Greninja and everything that came with it is real now. But the battle picture you posted earlier is a confirmed fake (the fanart I posted was made hours before that picture surfaced).
What do you have to say about this?

Me? It looks fake.

If they really cared about balance they would have just changed the type chart a little bit. As is, Fairy is potentially broken now while Ghost is definitely broken, lol. Ice is still uceless as an actual type, and poison is poison.

Fairy balances out Dragon, Dark and Fighting types… while finally giving poison a much needed niche. (And something steel can actually hurt) Weakens three overpowered types (dragon especially so given its prior lack of weaknesses) and strengthens a weak type. I don't see how it's at all broken, anymore than dark is against the once overpowered psychic... unless you're talking about the current metagame favorites, which will be quite shaken up as a result of it.
it'd be nice if they balanced out grass some more, (since it has like 7 things it can't hurt and 5 weaknesses) and gave ice some more versatility (especially since they tweaked the properties of steel, they clearly aren't afraid of the changes) but...some of the types haven't been touched since gen 1 and they clearly don't want to mess with things too much... the new type goes a long way and does a lot that needed to happen.
The nerfing of steel is mostly the result of it being a counter to fairy, which in turn shifts around dark (which sucks against fairy) and ghost.
That garchomp and metagross were in EVERY championship team just demonstrated how broken a couple things were.

It's the same grass as BW2.
Yeah i call bullshit on the only 70 pokemons and and no postgame, he know's that and doesn't say anything about who his the leader of team flare or the champion to name a few things.:getlost:

Exactly. With the addition of Fairy and the little nerfin of Steel every type is balanced out and none of them feel overpowered anymore. That's what I thought at first about the Fairy type, I was afraid it would become the next HAX type, but as soon as more pokemon of that type popped out and the chart table, I was relieved, as it explained why Fairy types already appear earlier in the game.

Beat me up to it. I won't trust any other anonymous sources except Poke Beach.
funny how people complain about too many pokemon and yet at same time complain that not enough were added.
No point trying to please someone complaining, cause there will be one person for every single news that will not be happy with the news, no matter what.

No one complains about that.
Unless they're talking about the overall total, I suppose. Someone coming into this as only their first or second pokemon game might be overwhelmed. (And we're still probably going to be missing a ton of potential type combos, no matter what's added this time. Not counting Fairy there were still, what, 40 missing combos?) Eventually we'll be up to 1,000 and that'll be pretty crazy.
Megas might be a good way to stall that for another decade or so though.
EDIT: Currently missing combos (not counting fairy)

Normal is pertinent mostly for the immunity to ghost.
Of note, if we get a flying/fighting, (and now a flying/fairy, which seems likely) that'll cover all the flying combinations.

Yeah. Lots of people complain about any pokemon added after gens 1 and 2. Some people call these people genwunners. I just ignore them. (kind of)
We'd all be bored and it would be a dead franchise if it was still just the original 250 fifteen years later.

I imagine Pikachu would be the biggest eyesore of it all.
You forgot to cross out Dark / Psychic.
Which critter is that?
Nevermind, the squid.
Yup, Malamar. Looks exciting but I'm afraid it'll be overused by the team flare grunts.
Also, isn't Oorotto (or w.e. you call it) grass / ghost?

It isn't confirmed yet, but Oorotto is probably Grass/Ghost or Grass/Dark.

It technically hasn't been officially announced yet. Grass/ghost is just fandom guess.
For some reason Malamar reminds me of something from Dr. Seuss and I can't pinpoint what. But I'm determined to get it anyway. Hopefully it and Helioptile have good looking evolutions. Also, isn't Team Flare sort of fire based like Team Magma (and the reverse with team Aqua)? At least, I assume so from the name. Why would they use Malamar plentifully?

Their goal is a "beautiful world"… so it's likely intended as Flare as in "style", not "flame." (Or possibly as both since they have a lot of red in the color scheme) So it should be Flair, really.
Hopefully it and Helioptile have good looking evolutions.
Malmar IS the evolution. Of Inkay.
@RobbyBevard:
Flare as in "style", not "flame." So it should be Flair, relly.
Or that was my understanding in any event. I could be totally wrong.
Oh. If that's the case, I have sudden new respect/interest for this team. And even if Malamar was overused by them, I'd look at it like a symbol of his style.
Ugh, having troubles making spoiler tags and editing posts.
Pretty much, Malamar's pokedex entry mentions something about how it has strong hypnotic powers that could be used for evil. So I'm making the assumption it will wind up being used by the team flare people.
The Pokedex entry revealed there's still one more evolution for Fletchling after Talonflame. But I don't remember when did I find that, though I do recall posting the pic in this thread.
Malamar reminds me of Ursula from litlle mermaid.
Its Pokedex entry would suggest that it's based on a cuttlefish…
Just so you know, there's a Nintendo Direct tomorrow. I don't know if they are going to reveal something new related to Pokemon X & Y, but stay tuned anyway.
And here I was thinking Malamar was Dark/Water. Dark/Psychic is significantly less attractive :/
And here I was thinking Malamar was Dark/Water. Dark/Psychic is significantly less attractive :/
We've already had Dark/Water types. (Sharpedo and Crawdaunt.) Dark/psychic is something new.
Dark gets rid of Psychic's Weaknesses to Dark and Ghost.
Psychic Immunity.
No resistances.
Only one weakness, 4x Weak to Bug. And I guess fairy now.
Yeah, but its a squid thing. And water is just so much cooooler than psychic. I was speaking on a personal level, sorry if I didn't make that cleaR.
I guess Dark/Psychic is neat. Maybe if it can learn surf, I can comfortably replace Froakie with Chespin.
It'll PROBABLY still be able to learn Surf, I'd assume.
If Rhydon can learn Surf (or at least there was one in the anime that could) I'm sure Malamar, an actual aquatic creature, can.

This guy can't yet his pokedex entry says he lives on the Ocean.
"Eelektross latches onto its prey using its sucker mouth, then drag the prey into the ocean. They electrify their prey before eating."

It can in the games too, and IIRC so can Aggron. O_o
As can Snorlax and I think Tyranitar.
I'm not sure this is worth posting but… (possible spoilers)
!
! We don't get to see the Pokemon, but it's sitting on a broomstick, like some guessed.
! Could be a fake though. The star effect didn't move between pic 2 and pic 3. Maybe he took his pictures on a really short inverval ?
It evolves into Kiki?
My goal for the next two week:
Do http://www.contrib.andrew.cmu.edu/~msandbot/pokemon/ about 640 more times to figure out my which pokemon I like the most and least, then find the average placing for each generation and type, to finally have a concrete answers for which Generation had the best Pokemon and what my favorite types are.
So far I know:
1. Lapras
2. Metagross
3. Bagon
4. Grovyle
5. Umbreon
6. Bayleef
7. Murkrow
8. Squirtle
9. Sawsbuck
10. Spheal
Can someone explain what the logic behind ground and psychic being good on poison is, because it seems completely arbitrary to me
Half of the type matchups are strictly there for balance as opposed to sense, as is wont to do in RPGs.
