Had a right old chuckle at this.
Would it be retarded of me to buy a 3DS just so I can play Pokemon X & Y?

I've been looking for an excuse to get a 3DS given the library it's acquiring. X & Y seem like the perfect opportunity given I get so much mileage out of that series (as opposed to things like Layton, much as I love the Professor).

Since I bought a 3DS to play the Ocarina of Time remake and just have Pokemon games I play with it I say it is ok lol
(i know I'be missed a lot of great 3DS games xD).

I'm not sure what other games would intrigue me on the 3DS (suggestions welcome) but Pokemon X & Y would keep me occupied for hours on end and to me it seems like a good excuse to buy a 3DS, have always wanted one and think I have left it until the next big Pokemon game arrived to buy one….which seems to be now.

The usual Nintendo library, I guess - Zeldas, Marios, Mario Karts, Animal Crossings, and so forth. That said I only generally buy games I'll get a lot of use out of - at least 100 hours - which is typically towards the RPG end of the scale.

Think I'll pick up a 3DS with Fire emblem and maybe Monster Hunter 3 ultimate with my next pay day as it would cost just under £200 in the UK.
I think the next step for Pokemon is a Pokemon MMORPG…..imagine the possibilities.
On paper a Pokemon MMO sounds like gold but in reality I doubt it would work as great as everyone thinks.
We do get to trade and battle online but the social aspect of actually carrying your Pokemon with you around in real life is such a huge draw to the series I can't see it being dropped, ever. Not even for a home console equivalent of the regular titles.
I daresay that when X & Y come out, various people here will share their friends codes so we can battle or trade with each other. Not an MMO, but not a single-player experience either.

I totally forgot abut Zelda, I love Zelda….and so the motivation grows.

I know, but imagine if you could build your own gym and have challengers who could then take over your gym if you loose and so on. There a lot of great ideas I'm sure that could be thrown into a Pokemon MMO but yeah it probably will never happen, they need to make money off their handhelds somehow, no Pokemon…No handhelds, simple as that.

I'll give you all my friends codes whenever I get my 3DS…which will probably be in about 3 weeks time, i'll keep yawl posted. Battling real life people was always the highlight for me even back when you had to use the cable link in the late 1990's.

Wasn't there a link few pages ago(maybe 10-30?^^) to a beta version of a Pokemon MMO, which was fan made? I watched a demo video of it, and it looked great.

I seen that, it did look amazing, but I think its already been taken off the air, copyright and all that. Was really well made for a fan creation, shame Nintendo don't wake up and smell the coffee, WE WANT AN MMO.
This will be the first time I will try the iv/ev stuff.
what's the best way to get those?
I I never done them myself. But as I understand XY are adding the new super training thing to make it easier so keep your eyes out for more info on that.
Other then that serebii.net pokedexs can be arranged by EV they give so that tell you who you want to fight. For example http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-bw/attack.shtml
Thanks, another question the pokemon natures tend to up a stat and down another correct?
so it can happen that a pokemon who normaly would be good with special attack if has a nature that reduces its special attack does still compensate giving EVs to that stat or depends from pokemon to pokemon?

that actually is a good idea, a trading thread would be useful

If it has a nature that reduces a stat, you can compensate some by training in it, but it will never be as good as it could be.
And if it has a nature that makes a stat better, its maximum potential is much higher.
The difference between a good nature, high Ivs, and trained evs, compared to a bad nature, low ivs, and no training, can ultimately be the difference of up to 150 points in a stat.
Of course, that only matters in online competition. In game whatever you raise will be fine with pure leveling.

That's why I'm asking since now with internet I can finaly face someone that's not a NPC.
Thanks to answer and maybe someday we can do a battle.

I don't think a trading thread would be needed when we can just converse about any possible trades here and then continue the dealing through PM's. I'll look forward to possibly doing business with everyone here come october.

Its not stupid but its a waste to not play all the other good games :D.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry so I just laughed in terror.
That is the normal response to Donald Sutherland's Donald-Sutherlandness
So Trevor seems to be a pretty good friend, he doesn't only give us the dex, he also teaches us how to sit.
Wow. I hate this guy more than Green and Silver already. No rival could be this big a douchebag.

Seriously what a nice guy, this is so handy just incase this happens to anybody….
In all seriousness I wonder what practical purpose bench-sitting will have. Like will your Pokemon recover a tiny bit of HP when you do so or something?
Does it have to have a practical purpose? Sometimes you just wanna sit down.
It seems like Nintendo's way of saying 'wow look at our new in game mechanics, you can now sit down….in 3D'
I'm thinking like a video gamer. For so long benches have just existed as inexplicably-impassive obstacles. There _must_ be an underlying reason as to why they suddenly have a use now!
Maybe there's an trainer badge achievement for sitting on all the benches.
What if you sat down on benches and it slowly let your Pokemons health be restored.

This is as touching as the moment Derek Zoolander finally learned how to turn left.
If you have breadcrums you can feed and catch bird pokemon?
And there's the legendary park where Articuno Zapdos Moltres and Pidgeys come to feed?
I seem to recall something about a parade. Maybe sitting on the bench is the trigger.
Interesting, it seems in October a second anime series is going to start airing alongside the original one that's going to adapt Red and Blue directly.
Rather than health (that bench looks like it's in a town, why wouldn't you just go to the Pokemon center?), maybe it's Friendship points that raise when you sit with your pokemon?
Point in favor of fennelkin growing up to be fire/psychic In a demo it had psybeam.
Some other details of interest is megaevolutions are not automatic you get a 5 button on the attack screen to trigger it.
Oh neat thing I read about a few days ago the bracelets the trainers wear seem to have a megastone in it.
You can't really see it here but I saw a zoom in image and it seem to have the DNA symbol the and coloring of the megastone icon.
New anime seems awesome, man I was expecting some new megas and pokemon in the demo apparently not.
Bunch of pictures from the demo guys first 5 pags of that gallery

Mega stone activation button
Also I'm assuming this is going to be a Wii U game
that new anime suprises me although i wish they would just adapt the pokemon adventures manga. I assumed the reason they hadn't was because there was already a pokemon anime but f there doing this origins anime i'd have prefered adventures.
Also i assume that's like a new pokemon stadium i guess?
The new anime is gonna be a one-shot special.Probably around an hour and a half. It's not a new anime series.
Kinda boring it isn't really an animated Pokemon Adventures.
oh. that's a lot to do in an hour and half. I thought it would be like a 24 episode series running till april. I wasn't expecting anything more
I love the games (as anyone in here would) but haven't watched the anime since….erm...1999 lol. I'd be interested in checking out this one off origins adventure.
!
some characthers.
!
This is the Pokemon anime I always dreamed of even if it is just a special
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
This was a CG segment from a Pokemon Game Show. The reason for posting this is if you skip to 2:11 there is a 2 second long clip of a possible unannounced Pokemon game.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
here's a screen shot of it
!
Of course it could just be a CGI scene created especially for this trailer.
I like how chill and more grown up Brock looks with this new design. It'll be nice to see him in the anime again, even if he'll be acting differently and it'll only be a one-time special (maybe)…

Hell yeah! Can't wait to get into the competitive bench-sitting scene.
Oh, it's only a special? Damn. And here I was all ready for Charmander's time in the spotlight. (sorry, Pikachu.)
Because the Charmander line never got any attention … :ninja:
Movie is mostly spent running from Zubats.
I AM TALKING ABOUT HOW THERE ARE A LOT OF ZUBATS IN POKEMON AND IT'S THIS BIG FRUSTRATING AND TIME-CONSUMING EXPERIENCE THAT NOBODY LIKES WHICH COULD BE A METAPHOR FOR LIFE BUT I DIGRESS NOW WHERE WAS I OH YES ZUBATS/ANNOYING IN CASE YOU DID NOT GET THE POINT OF THIS
