@Benjaman:
I hate clickers!! Just saying… #nowgobacktoplay
Wait till you meet the bloaters >_>
@DarthAsthma:
No game discussion without ranking it against other games(even the inherently different ones), classic.
So in that spirit tetris is better!
Maybe a bit more sensible, as a gamer that enjoys a game that has a good story I like the game a lot. It has a ton of atmosphere and seeing these environments reclaimed by nature is pretty cool. Reminds me of some buildings we have here that are complete ruins.
The characters are really well realized.
If I had to compare it to any game I would probably pick bioshock infinite
I'mma let you finish, but Bioshock Infinite is one of the best Games of all time! All time!
(or tomb raider but that game pales in my opinion against this), as in I feel like the two share similar intents of what they want to achieve.
They set out to tell this story with heavy focus on characters and they have this carefully crafted world around it to help to tell it.
Judging by that I feel like the last of us achieves these goals better(for now haven't finished the game yet), mostly because I feel like the gameplay is way more in tune(and actually helps telling it) with what the story tries to tell compared to infinite.
What I also like about the game is the tension it's very survival horror like, I never feel particular empowered by the game doesn't matter how well I play or what weapons I get. The scarcity of ressources adds to the pressure. And damn a dark room with clickers really creeps me out. It builds great atmosphere.
As for it being the game of the generation, well that's a pretty stupid nomination to begin with when the factors by which the game is chosen aren't defined.
But I actually have no difficulties seeing why this game appeals to so many people and got rated so high. It's expertly crafted and from what I experienced its ability to tell its story is still far above(that opening…) what we usually get within games in general. And I also dig the music a lot.
But it is also a type of game that I can see people very focused on player freedom or really deep gameplay systems not enjoying a whole lot. It also doesn't really offer much replayability in my opinion.
That said dark souls is of course the game of the generation :ninja:
Bioshock Infinite and Dark Souls are my two favorite games of this generation, and both are in my top five of all time (Infinite's number one!)
Everything you wrote is very true, though I disagree with this succeeding more than Infinite. The combat here reminds me a lot of Uncharted, where it's very frustrating. If i shoot a guy in the head, he should die. I shouldn't have to shoot him five times. I'm terrified of survival mode, as this game is vicious on Hard.
The storytelling so far is phenomenal. (Don't click if you haven't made it to Fall)
! The opening was gut wrenching, and the scene between Ellie and Sam the night before he turned was fantastic. Their conversation was so well done, but so achingly poignant, especially since it wasn't exactly a twist he got bit.
! Don't even get me started on Tess' death, and how Henry went out. Those were rough.
Though, unless the ending is something else, there's no way it's going to touch Infinite.
I'm 65% through according to the game, so there's still a lot to go.
All I can really say now is, move over Clementine, Ellie is in town. Though she's still no Liz.

Question: if you spare a guy do they just turn around and attack you again? I've killed everyone flat out so as to not give them the chance.
