Oh look Samurai Diaper is back.
Now now, just because they're similar to a banned user is no reason to call them na…
Oh. It IS Samurai Diaper.
Never mind. My protection is gone. Carry on then.
-
Wait and you guys didn't change his name back to Samurai Diaper? It's like…the greatest poster name on this entire forum since the beginning of time. We need the return of the Samurai Diaper!

I am very curious about this poster known as Samurai Daiper.

No…No..no. I don't want to relive that lol.
-
I seem to recall a poster from a few months back arguing that the Zodiacs would undeniably wreck the Ryodan in a fight. Because both groups have shown the full extent of their fighting abilities and clearly…oh, right...
Their main argument seemed to be a single line of dialogue that stated the Zodiacs had been sparring partners of Netero.
-
I find who-would-win? arguments to be fucking stupid in general.
EDIT: To clarify, arguing who would win on a technical scale is stupid. Determining who wins a battle should be based on how it affects the story rather than the combatants' actual ability.

Biscuit's explanation of how fights are won is the best. It's something some readers never understand and always try to equate to powerlevels.

lol, so this loser is back, after throwing his tantrum the last time? lol
Anyway, I just watched both chimera ants episodes, and while it's not too bad, the first episode was a little confused, wasn't it? And I don't mean introducing Kite later to the story, just the pacing of the episode in general with madhouse trying to force this idea onto us that Ging planned for all of this years ago, which is just impossible if you think about it, how the hell would he have known that Kite was just about to inflitrate the NGL when his son just happened to finish greed island. Oh, and of course, Kite has been to greed island, but for some reason didn't know that he even visited it, because hunters are usually unaware of what they are doing and where they're going?
And I also thought that Gon and Kite used to see each other from time to time on whale island, why would Gon be so immensely attached to him when they only moment they shared was Kite protecting Gon once from a wild animal?
There were some other things, but It just didn't add up to me.
But I do like the additionals for everything after the first episode, gave this whole chimera ant mission more believability and structure, just seeing what hunters based on ecological work do and how they approach situations like these -
They kinda messed up a bit and took liberties with Kite's role.
It's wonky and barely works, but we know what really happened so just roll with it.
And you forget that Ging is a crafty bastard, he probably just asked Kite if he wanted to see something cool and took him there.
-
Man i bet the Madhouse guys are hysterically laughing while adding those Ponzu moments, the extra bits tying the events are pretty cool thou.
And they actually showed human Welfin and IkalgoAlso next week, one of my favourite ants makes his entrance.
Just get to the Ryodan part already Madhouse !
-
I'd find the Pokkle X Ponzu implications cute if I actually liked Pokkle. I've always found him to be annoying.
Hmm…I think the bad manga art combined with plowing through the chapters made me unaware of the significance of the NGL. Specifically, I didn't realize that the Chimera ants nesting in that region was one of the main reasons the entire situation got out of hand. While I miss the fast pace Madhouse gave the Greed Island arc, I appreciate a lot of details being clarified.
-
i like the details being added but man there was a lot of padding. I don't know if i like that them 3 maybe the ones who take gyro down. Especially if he's meant to be all that but we'll see next episode
-
I like how they add those additional bits of phrazes and scenes. Like Gyro's followers, Gon in the airship, sea currents. In the manga there are several moments where the continuity is damaged. Not only because sketches, but also because apparently Togashi sometimes forgets that we know only what he wrote. For him it might be obvious why team rode to NGL, but I was not so sure. So are the early Gyro mentions to give him weight and presence. In the manga he kind of appears out of nowhere.
And since they avoided Kite early on and introduced him now, it's good to see them interweaving some moments with Gon and his reasoning. If they made the start different (now I find it even more realistic then in the manga) it's nice of them working on it and not jumping on the manga version. Makes Gon's reaction later more explained. Without Gon saying that he can stand for himself and doesn't need protection and will run away (even if in the airship he says he will not dash), that reasoning later on becomes thinner. Because considering the way Nen works and the result of Gon's plot line, for it to not look like yet another convenient power-up we need reasoning. Well, I for sure need.
So despite knowing how things will unfold, I still find it nice that these explanations and scenes are added. Makes the story move connected and neat.
-
It seems we are going to see the downfall of Gyro.
Interesting. I don't believe that was ever shown in the manga.
-
no gyro kind of just showed up
-
So guys do you think Gyro is going to play a major role in the manga later on?
-
no, he's just complete fodder. He's all hyped up to be shit. Yep. that seems about right…
i'm kidding of course. We've mentioned plenty of times he's hyped to be the series big bad.
-
But Gyro to live up to his hype, HxH needs to come out of hiatus… is there any hope?
-
Togashi will start writing HxH only when anime ends.. I can feel it in my gut

Why does my favorite shonen manga artist/writer have to be Togashi?
-

"If they pause the anime frame by frame and use the Black & White filter, it's like my manga's panels with more detail! I, Togashi, have only been biding my time in my cocoon until now and have waited for someone to retell my story. When the anime's over, the real story will begin! Until then these dragons sure need some questing."
Sounds likely.
-
Well that was a brutal episode. I liked how they implied that Gon remembered/recognized Ponzu.
I think now that a lot of the arc's background information has been communicated, the anime's speeding up again. Sort of. They covered about two chapters, but it just felt like there was a lot less filler.
-
Oh man, this episode was one of the best yet. It gave me the same sort of chills I remember having when I first read this part of the story. The anime did really well in expressing the increasing hopelessness of the situation. That feeling sort of dominates this arc and it gets exacerbated as the story progresses, but this is where it first really hits.
-
They actually showed all of Gyro's cruel backstory, except for the bit where he gets eaten by the queen and then resisted her control. That bit was a bit unclear and was just a throw-away thing in the manga. I think perfectly fine without it.
Next week (or the week after maybe?), some of my favorite scenes from HxH.
! The bit where Kaito says:
"Don't act irrationally. He's not the only enemy. If you rush out like that, you'll be falling right into their trap."
"Don't turn your eyes. If he throws or shoots something, you won't be able to react."
"Do not hesitate. Kill them without mercy."
"Don't easy up just because you cut him in half."
"Make sure you destroy the head…."
"...and ideally, when you kill, do it as quickly and as silently as possible kekekekeke" -
Is there an ost out for the music that is playing when they're reading Ponzu's blood written letter?
-
This episode gave me the same sensation I get when I go to see thriller/horror movies in the theater. I still haven't re-read this arc so I've forgotten how people got taken out. So brutal.
-
Finding Ponzu's remains made it all the more brutal.
-
Im a few episodes behind, this is going to get so dark so quickly
-

With Dragon Quest MMO I doubt it.
-

I actively searched the web for it and couldn't find it. I don't think it's released on CD yet. It must be from the OST that was used during Greed Island.
But I found Machi singin' and she has a pretty voice so I figured I'd link it:
-
Its been a long time since I read the chapter(s) ep 78 was based on ( I think it was that episode) so not sure how accurate the anime depicting the search of everyone was, but it made me wonder why they didn't discover the needle Illumi put in Killua"s head. That would seem sort of like a plothole perhaps? I dunno. To lazy to look up the chapter right now.
-
because it's a nen needle.
-
Ah! I didn't think of that, that "probably" is the reason I guess.
-
The hiatus thing is getting anoying.
-
The hiatus thing is getting anoying.
Let's see, the series proper has been on hiatus since approximately March 15, 2012. So, unless you count the two movie tie-in chapters, this is the longest hiatus Togashi has had to date (the second longest, which started back in 2010, lasted one year and two months exactly).
-
Thanks to the anime this hiatus doesn't really feel as bad as the other ones, the fact that Togashi actually finished the ant arc helps as well.
On a separate note I started purchasing the volumes for the chimera ant arc but I've noticed that in volume 23 specifically in chapter 236 there is a lot of censoring of the gore. I understand the gore being censored when the chapter is originally printed in Jump but is it usual for it to also be censored in the actual volumes? Also the censoring seems pretty inconsistent as in other volumes and even within the same volume there are plenty of scenes that are a lot 'worse' but they are left intact.

It's assumed they forgot to take out the edits. Oh well, not like it matters, no scene will be as brutal as Gon killing Pitou.
-
After watching the latest episode I was reminded how immature both killua's and gon's nen actually was before the whole arc. It's quite spectacular how much they've grown.
-
So…Kite got about two weeks?
-
three probably. I tried working this out before and with the current pacing that seems right. Does anyone have a preview for the next episode?
-
This questions probably been asked about 10 thousand times… but I'm not skimming almost three hundred pages to find an answer.
Do we have any idea when this manga will return from hiatus? It's been a pretty long time now.
-

Well short answer no, long answer:
! >! >! >! >! >! >! >! MMORPGS NEVER END
-
No one actually knows, but people are speculating that the manga should be back after the anime stops airing, aka a la dragon ball/dragon ball z, 2 parts.
-

It ended, it's never coming back.
-
Togashi strained himself a bit too hard last time when he released 30 chapters in a row. it's only natural that current break will be longer
-
It always comes back to this huh?
Oh and whoa that one CA was really mad. I don't remember thinking about him as a threat(his design didn't help) in the manga but in the anime. He totally seems intimadating, I could see the hate, it just came out of nowhere.
Also does colt somehow associate the queen with Reina?

Also does colt somehow associate the queen with Reina?
As a human he wanted to protect his sister Reina. As an ant he wants to protect the queen. It's just the dominant aspect of his personality carrying over.
Also, Reina is Spanish for Queen.
