@Nia:
Johnlock feeeeeeells. They won't go away. Instead, they're being amplified right now due to womanly reasons.
I seriously need to stop bursting into tears too, cause it keeps ruining my makeup.OTHER THAN THAT … I intend to stop rewatching Sherlock (it might not be healthy) and start watching either Supernatural or Dr Who. Either are just as long (120 hours or something?), have a huge fanbase that managed to sell the respective show very well via tumblr gifs and whatnot, and I'm almost finished with Vampire Diaries, so I'd need a "new" show.
I guess I'll just toss a coin or something.... oh yeah. And university and work. That ... that exists, too.
Would some KFC make you feel better ?
Hey I'm no Rotschild. :O

All the KFC.
Take all of it.
No Maam! Are you the one who stole my KFC? I drove by it the other to find it was just gone, the building and everything, no warning at all. Was a sad day.

If we're all taking things, can I have John?

Post-uni life is pretty sweet so far. I watched Iron Man 3 today, then went for cell and dinner. The movie was pretty awesome for me. A couple of odd bits but overall I really enjoyed it. Now I'm s'posed to be packing for Europe but I'm so lazyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Also I got new shoes which are hardier to withstand any gloomy rainy weather in London so I've been wearing them to try to break them in which means that I have BLEEDING ANKLES

Quiet you. Nia needs it more then you ! I mean what kind of monster are you, denying fast food chain buildings from your fellow forum goers in need ?

If I had enough of an appetite and teleporting abilities I totally would do depending on how the KFC is there.
It's improved up in here a fair bit, actually.
But yes… my mind is giving me hell.
Mass. Hell.

Do something so horrible that your mind will have no choice but to give in. I recommend starting out slow, like watching an episode of Lazy Town and go up from there.

I would swear that that is the second time I've seen that posted around here somewhere in the past day or so.
Also, that is clearly some sort of extremely advanced, waterproof robot, as I have never experienced a real cat being so calmly accepting of being bathed.

You know, KFC isn't exactly popular around here, so despite living almost NEXT to one, I've never eating any KFC. Ever.
So, sure, take it away. :D

I think you should try it though.
I prefer Ezelles or Popeyes to KFC.
Sorry, you are still completely wrong. Subjectivity is going to do absolutely nothing useful unless you're trying to literally start a revolution fueled by rage. People with brains don't need first-hand suffering to realize when a situation is messed up. Then again I sense a deep lack of those kinds of people…
Maybe what you're trying to say that we need to be rational or unbiased when passing such a judgement. I never disagreed with that. My beef was with the sweepingly general statement that people nearest to the situation often do not view it objectively. I think we have muddled up over semantics.
Before you waste your time I'm not saying people don't need subjective experiences because the experiences that occur are sort of driving whatever problem needs to be solved.
So essentially we agree.
I'm just saying approaching an issue with subjective interpretation while trying to evaluate or resolve it is a terrible idea. Even good people can justify horrible acts of revenge to themselves this way.
And that is what I never said. Way to strawman my point.
And remember what I said about reading comprehension? The situation in Tibet has nothing to do with why I said he's not profound. I'm done with this.
And yet you are still to mention a single original argument about why you think he's not profound.
P.S. I'm glad if people you know found hope and inspiration in him, but that doesn't make a person profound or automatically correct. If praying to the tree in your back yard brings you peace, do that too.
Again, I never said he's always correct. What I said is that he's profound and his ideas are worth listening and pondering over, which is where this started.
Wh-what is this I'm feeling? RESPECT for Cooldud?!?!?
I'm a man of many surprises. :ninja:

Yes, this is still true… often when something affects you emotionally, your interpretation loses objectivity. It's human nature.
I think we have muddled up over semantics.
Then maybe you should avoid being clumsy with words; I already extensively defended my word usage, as well as the context, and the way you mocked it.
And yet you are still to mention a single original argument about why you think he's not profound.
And you are still pretending I didn't address this in my original post where I said he's a fabricated persona. But I'll spell it out just for you: he was raised from infancy to be who he is and represent Tibetan Buddhism the way he does. He doesn't say anything you couldn't find in a book about Buddhism or in a book of clichés. Maybe your definition of being a profound person differs from mine, but I would expect it to be something that brings original insight, not just recycled beliefs. And like I said, being respected and/or bringing "hope" to people doesn't make you profound.
yeah! Since I can't afford to fly to Japan myself and will probably never get to see these events even if I do, this will be super cool! Japan has a freaking 50 ft. Shirahoshi slide. I've got my fingers crossed to see video of the Podcast team sliding down if we get this funded. I'm really rooting for 'em! Hell, it's only $15 for access to a live blog! ….let's just say I've got my bases covered on that front.
Wait what?!
Someday I'll get to Japan myself….
....
oh right, today's events. Okay, well the first thing you all have to keep in mind was that it was pouring out for the better half of my journey. Not too much of a problem, but I did get a little soaked.
I had to head over to one of the colleges I'm considering (to be specific, it's one of the CUNYs), just to see if I can score a fee-waiver for my deposit. ….No such luck, but the deposit's not that much anyway. Plus tuition's not half bad.
So then I take the bus back.....I head to my local shopping center to a) get my mom a card for Mother's Day card and b) catch a movie. There's perks to working at a movie theater, ya know! I got to see 42 (amazing film) for free! Admission and popcorn included.
Thankfully when I got out, the sun was shining....one 15 minute walk later, and here I am.
....
oh sweet my mom did the laundry!
Yes, this is still true… often when something affects you emotionally, your interpretation loses objectivity. It's human nature.
Operative word: often. Still sweepingly general.
Then maybe you should avoid being clumsy with words; I already extensively defended my word usage, as well as the context, and the way you mocked it.
That was after the entire discussion was done with sunshine, and you had thrown your toys out of the pram.
And you are still pretending I didn't address this in my original post where I said he's a fabricated persona.
And finally, we're talking. Fabricated by whom, and to what end?
But I'll spell it out just for you: he was raised from infancy to be who he is and represent Tibetan Buddhism the way he does. He doesn't say anything you couldn't find in a book about Buddhism or in a book of clichés. Maybe your definition of being a profound person differs from mine, but I would expect it to be something that brings original insight, not just recycled beliefs. And like I said, being respected and/or bringing "hope" to people doesn't make you profound.
I think this is a matter of semantics again. Profound means "having intellectual depth". Intellectual depth does not always arise from having original ideas. It can also be exhibited by interpreting existing ideas in your own way. A lot of literature and philosophy doctorates do that.
Do you want him to be a philosopher? He is a religious leader, and his job is to provide and expound his interpretation of Tibetan Buddhist philosophy, which he has done in a lot of detail. His lectures are unique as he uses that world-view and philosophy in the context of current problems facing humankind. And it's not all talk. He has recognized the need for reform in Tibetan society and stepped down as the head of the Tibetan Government-in-exile.
Alright well we are still at that point where we aren't arguing about anything of substance, since everything is coming back to semantics – you arguing that I explained myself too late, me arguing that your word usage was bad -- so I'm going to drop the topic, permanently this time.
But I will say that I actually don't have anything against your last paragraph there. It's a legitimate view. I just don't agree entirely about insightfulness. I definitely give him some credit for recognizing that things won't go over too well with him still in position to rule. Hopefully it is sincere.

I'm not even joking! One of the OP events listed on the Podcast's kickstarter is "United States of Odaiba." I had absolutely no fucking clue what that was. In fact if I didn't know better it sounds like some kind of theme park of what Japanese people think the US must be like. It's actually a festival whose theme this year is One Piece, and this article was one of the first to pop up in my search:

Maybe you just can't stop staring at that cleavage. There's no way building something like that would ever fly over here in the United States of Soccer Moms.

I can't stop wondering how they made the Rei Ayanami slide work. because apparently that is a thing they built once. I hope Japan expands its ridiculously gigantic kiddie slides from big boobed female characters to all the tall characters in One Piece. Tell me when Japan has a Kaku slide and I'm there, no questions asked.

So true. She'd at the very least be wearing a modesty panel.
I find it kinda funny the only statue I didn't see in the video was Zoro's.
My job is offering free breakfast food at 10:00 pm, I get off work at 9:30 pm. The choice between home and free bacon is tearing me apart.

Are you taking a bus? If not stay, it's just 30 minutes ^_^.
That's what's gonna happen, I don't work tomorrow so I don't mind staying up late. No bus, but it's approx. an hour long commute for me.

Sorry, I was reading through this thread and noticed this post so I decided to skip the next two pages and inform you of two things:
1. Lazy Town is awesome.
2. I hate you now.
Have a nice day. I hope someone throws a pie at your face.~
I've actually seen an episode or two of Lazy Town, in comparison to all the other junk they call children's shows I'd say its rather good.
Oh and one more thing.
!
That's for stealing my KFC
I really can't believe the topic switched to Lazy Town because I've been wanting to post this all day.
I was singing this for a while then decided to do metal-style screams as I sung it and I did it too much, resulting in a damaged throat. But if this hasn't been covered by a metal band then it must.
Lazy town has only ONE good stuff, Sportacus's airship..that thing is the shit…
This is the closet thing you're going to get for a Lazy Town metal cover:
(If anyone cares, it is done by a ridiculous pirate metal group: Alestorm)

I have only heard this version.
slightly nsfw(swearing):
Lazy town is icelandic… it's the biggest thing to come from Iceland I guess... well after the simpsons episode airs it will be Sigur Rós. There was a play back in the day that's what it started out as, I saw it as a kid, didn't really enjoy it, thought it was offensive towards computer geeks : þ
my uni doesn't wrap up until june 10
seeing most other schools let their students out is painful
i really dislike counting the days until something, but it's bearable if the event is fairly soon. 31 days until summer is too much though
geez hope this phase passes soon
Lazy town: creating pedophiles since 2004.
Is it that old already? Time sure flies.

I already searched google (and it helped a lot), what I wanted was a book, or some reliable material that I could use.. (in other words..I can´t use wikipedia as a source).
I know one character in Samurai Spirits with this apple motif.
