! But it also had its sad side. Russia is still incredibly poor and riddled with corruption and other domestic problems that make the place not so nice.

Overall, it was an interesting trip. Not something I would call fun or relaxing, as the general atmosphere there was that of indignation, stagnation and desolateness. There was also a clear Russian bombastic pride floating around that made me, as a citizen of a smaller bordering nation, feel rather concerned. It was almost like they were compensating for their lack of comfort and welfare with displays of empty extravagance and ironfisted power. And that wasn't a nice thing to witness.
In any case, it definitely was an experience to be had. I feel like I understand Russians themselves, as well as the minorities and the smaller nations around Russia, much better now. I can't claim to be an expert, but there it is on a purely emotional level.
