The fact that they haven't done that yet kis why I expect a new opening soon enough. It'd be really strange to do that in the middle of the arc instead of at the start
587: ''Clash! Law vs. Vice-Admiral Smoker''
-
-
I wasn't expexting the episode to be this good, and I'm not lying if I said this is the best episode I've seen since I started watching the anime weekly. Law vs Smoker was handled better than I thought and I liked how they extended the fight. Also, the animation was great this time and made the fight look awesome. I give this episode 5/5, really deserve it.
-
!
monet looks like a dried up crack whore, all she needs is a black eye
-
I'm liking Ryusei Nakao as Ceasar more with each appearance, and Law and Smoker's fight scene was pretty impressive too. Can't wait for next week!
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Is there a title for the next episode?
-588- "First Meeting In 2 Years! Luffy And Law!"
-
"The weak don't choose their way to die."
Such an awesome line executed perfectly this episode.
I have no complaints for this week. The fighting animation was on point and the pacing was handled well. A great episode.
-
@Miss:
I'm gonna start charging a toll fee around here.
Every time someone brings up the obvious fact we didn't get an opening, while regarding the fact nothing ANNOUNCED there'd be a new opening, I get five dollars and the rights to use your body for one night indiscriminately and mercilessly.
Sounds kind of hot
Man, I sure am pissed off there there's no new opening
-
Jesus Christ, Monet's even cuter in anime form than she was in the manga; I think I'm falling in love with her character all over again.
! Which sucks even more since we all know what's going to happen to her.
Anyway, twas nice to see Law and Smoker go all out badass on us, even if Smoker got taken out like a punk (hazard). The other tidbits were great, even if I'm still bugging how the whole body switching gag didn't see its full potential, but I digress.
Episode Rating: 5/5 Smoker Hearts. Make more episodes like this Toei, I beg of you.
-
Yeah…Law vs. Smoker exceeded my expectations in terms of execution. The middle part of the fight was definitely my favorite part!
-
@Miss:
5/5 episode right here. If they were all more like this, I wouldn't have to bitch so much and my job would be easier. Albeit more boring, perhaps.
Pacing was great. There were plenty of fillers and stretched out bits, but they were done perfectly well and it blended together with the canon seamlessly. Aside from a few wonky shots, the Smoker vs. Law fight was great. Animation was the smoothest I remember since some of the Luffy/Hody stuff. They even made Smoker slightly more threatening than I remember him to be in the manga. Good for him and his fanboys.
Brava, Toei. A great comeback after the break. Take five.
! Watch the next episode suck hairy bear scrotums.
Noooo! But I love it when you bitch.
-
monet looks like a dried up crack whore, all she needs is a black eye
Yeah I just noticed her eyes are drawn differently. The top eyelid part is drawn more round in the manga. The anime makes her look a little bit like Uma Thurman in Kill Bill
-
Pretty solid episode overall, that fight scene was done really well.
-
Was I the only who went "What the fuck why does Franky have Mocha's gigantic head?"
-
Are you serious?
-
I had to.
@Galaxy:
That isn't Mocha.
Realized that after noticing her hair.
-
That isn't Mocha.

I'm so glad there was an episode this week. Monet and C.C. were probably the highlight of the episode for me. C.C.'s VA is even better than I remember him being when I heard him in Bleach as Mayuri. He makes the character much more entertaining than he was in the manga alone. I'm kind of digging the drawn out scenes, like smoker vs. law. The overall pacing is sluggish, but I like the filler we get here and there especially since the manga goes so quickly.
-
Pacing was great this week and the animation wasn't terrible! Smoker vs. Law was done infinitely better than I expected it to be, though there were a few somewhat wonky shots of Law. Not a big deal though. Also not sure why Smoker stopped when that one rock "impaled" him. It's not like it did anything. Maybe he just meant it as a feint for his sneak attack on Law.
Caesar and Monet were delightful as always.
-
This was an excellent episode for once! Hoping that Toei keeps up like this!
Law's and Smoker's fight was just perfect. I just wonder what actually is that box thingy he put Smokers heart in.
Monet's introduction was awesome and luckily her looks weren't ruined like Toei does with Nami and Robin all the goddamn time!
I'm just a little disappointed we didn't get the topless chick centaur tough. :ninja:
-
monet looks like a dried up crack whore, all she needs is a black eye
yep wtf did they do the harpy
-
At this point, people, I'd say it's safe to assume that the next new opening will begin in April after the Toriko/Dragonball Z special. New openings usually begin around the Spring Anime season from my experience, and if it's already mid March, I can't see any other reason other than them just waiting for CC to make his full face appearance, which all should fall in line.
As for the episode itself, it was good overall. The pacing was far better than the past few episodes, and the comedy was spot on. The art was kind of wonky in some places, but the animation was smooth and made the fight look good. So a solid episode this week, and I expect this arc to be done well. It's already looking to be done better than Fish-Man Island in my opinion.
-
Okay'ish episode.
The fight was alright and I'm glad that they added a little filler here and there. It wasn't as enjoyable as Luffy vs Smoker years ago, but at least they didn't fuck it up completely.
!
-
I fangasm'd so hard.
Dat fight.
Dat animation.
Dat Law.
HGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG- [/kasplodes] -
That fight was actually pretty good.
-
That fight was so epic. Had goosebumps all the time.
-
Pretty good episode. the fighting scene is well done…
and that LAW...
Kyaaaaaaaaaaa~next week, finally… Luffy meets law

Mr 2? how did you get out of impel down?and what have you done with Miss Saturday?:ninja:
well,if Miss Saturday gave it 5 the then i suppose i'm actually interested to see this one.
-
Haven't been watching the anime since that episode where they agree to rescue the kids, but I'm watching again since Monet's role is officially in the story now. Frosty harpy waifu ftw.
Episode was great. Nice pacing, animation wasn't static, nice action sequences, good music selection. Also I enjoy watching people whine about the lack of no new opening.
-
Monet looks way better in the manga… But the fight was well done
-
I don't get it, why was Tashigi in one piece again? :getlost:

-
This was a pretty good episode. Law went in.
-
I don't get CC's logic. He says it's bad if they kill Smoker because then the Navy would get suspicious, then says it's okay if they kill Smoker and the Straw Hats because they're a notorious pirate crew? And then just says they'll supress the info about the island if they do get suspicious, as if he wouldn't have been able to do that just by killing Smoker?
-

i haven't watched the episode, but this point should have been made clear.perhaps you are missing something?
or is the anime missing something?:ninja:
so,anyone else who has watched the episode and read the manga, can clarify which is it? -

No the random fodder says it would be bad since killing a vie admiral and at least half of the G-5 marines will definitely raise suspicion. He says the straw hats been notrious is advantageous because no one will miss them if the die and no one is going to ask too many questions. He however says that he can kill smoker if he wanted and he will be able to suppress the information since he has the backing of joker. Is it any clearer now?

LOL WAT?CC has smoker's backing?also, even assuming he has smoker's backing, that will allow him to kill smoker?
or was that a typo -
didn't like the fight, in the manga it was more "epic".

No I read the manga I just forgot about the reasoning.

very solid episode. the fight was nicely done.

This episode was pretty good. Pretty good indeed.

Yeah, i feel the same way. Law's power or Law in generally doesn't look as epic and badass like in the previous episodes. The fight in the Anime was "slow paced". Law looked like shit in some szenes. It would have been better, if toei added a szene where we see how Law replaced himself with the wood.
But still, there were some awesome szenes. Especially "Mes" and "shambels" the bullets. -
@Ady:
I don't get it, why was Tashigi in one piece again? :getlost:
Marine fanservice, and to troll Zoro.

Really hoping the way this fight was handled will carry over for the rest of the big fights and action sequences this arc. Although its more likely that this will be the odd one out and the rest will be decent to bad, especially since Law vs Smoker was two very hyped up characters fighting.
! Even Luffy vs Caesar probably won't be given this type of attention, much less stuff like Smoker vs Vergo (or Sanji's brief encounter with him for that matter)
As an anime only viewer, I've gotta say thanks a lot for the spoilers. Honestly, even if I'm the odd one out that doesnt follow this show as a manga, Im up to the point where I cant even visit the anime forums of Arlong Park without getting disappointed.

Your frustration is absolutely warranted. That should not have happened.

It's fine if I just spoiler tag it, right? Honestly I didn't think saying a few of the fights was a huge spoiler, since it feels like they're either obvious (Like Luffy fighting the arc's villain), or would fall on deaf ears to an anime only watcher. I mean, I don't get how it's spoiling anyone to note that Sanji has a fight in this arc when there's no other context given. Plus I see tons of people saying stuff like this (and worse honestly) in this section.

Spoiler tags are fine.
The "intensity" of the spoilers doesn't really matter, and all those other people are in the wrong too.
