Edit:
Posted this before seeing Eerie's ultimatum. I don't really feel I'm being 'overly rude', especially as my post is more intended to speak out against a general attitude than a specific poster. That said, I acknowledge that it's not the most productive contribution to the thread, so if you feel it steps over the line, I'll be perfectly willing to remove it.

So, at the risk of compounding my hypocrisy by possibly starting my own de-rail in this thread:
@captain:
Got no problem with meat. I cook meat for guests sometimes. I DO however, have a problem with factory farming. Kudos to anyone here who can kill, clean, and cook their own meat. If you can't do that, then you don't deserve to be eating it. Drives me nuts how some people have no freaking clue where their food comes from.
Fuzz off.
I have absolutely no problem with people wishing to be vegetarian or vegan, if that wasn't already obvious from my earlier posts in the thread. If I know the person personally, I might tease them a bit about how crazy they are for passing up on all the delicious meat and animal products they could be having, but ultimately, it doesn't affect me, so it's not my concern.
But I absolutely cannot stand this affected moral high ground stance some people take up, such as what comes across in your post. 'Don't deserve to eat it'? What does that even mean? Do you not deserve to eat fish you haven't caught and gutted yourself, or vegetables or fruit you didn't grow in your own back yard? Even on the absolutely off chance you actually did do all those things, and limit your diet accordingly, could you not see how absurd it would be to apply those standards to the world?
And I know precisely where my food comes from, thank you, and the conditions of factory farming. I choose to eat meat regardless, and do so without a single blemish on my conscience. Does that drive you more or less nuts than if I did so in ignorance, I wonder?

Okay, de-rail-y rant over, with apologies to the thread. That sort of attitude is just such a huge pet peeve of mine, I can't even begin to express.
